Was this the first time you played it?
If you weren't satisfied with the roster up to this point, then you probably shouldn't have pre-ordered the game in the first place. I think the roster is ultimately lacking, but good enough that I was willing to put my order in a good month or two ago, and I'm not about to throw my toys out of the pram because a certain someone I wanted in didn't make it. However, I am incensed that Sony/SuperBot picked the most limp way possible of confirming the final line-up.
Played this game extensively at Eurogamer today. I say extensively, we couldn't put this fucker down. I went to the show with four other dudes and we were all itching to sit down and play multiplayer, all of us very competitive too. All the characters - that's the entire roster - was available to play right there on the show floor, and we gave it tons and tons of goes. I tried to work my way through all the chars, but only managed just over half of the roster.
But yeah, we couldn't get enough of it. First of all, I thought it looked pretty astounding really, especially the environments, such a vibrant and lovely looking game. Vita version is, as said, identical apart from controls that are slightly more difficult to accustom to.
Secondly, you guys should've seen the crowds. It was one of the only games still pulling people in droves for just one more go, even as the place was about to close. Only the very most pre-emptively bitter of cynics couldn't have a great time with it. It's a fucking mighty crowd pleaser of a game, just like it's inspiration.
Everyone's trepidation about the Super system disappears once you play the fucking thing and realised how good it is. I had serious problems landing supers for a while - fucked up the Vita controls and kept getting hit mid-activation the other times. I played mainly PS3 but a bit of Vita. I stuck mainly with Lv1's as a tactic but branched out occasionally and used a few Lv2's like Big Daddy's. Saw the occasional Lv3 kicking off but it seemed a fairly rare, and special occurrence, apart from Kratos' 3 which we saw a few times because my mate Dave kept saving up for it. We mostly saw Lv1's and 2's, another of my mates was loving the hell out of Drake's pushing the column over one, he scored three kills with it at one point. There's nothing like activating a super and wiping all your friends with it in one go, just the noise itself is so satisfying.
I started off with Jak and Daxter and made you guys proud, won by six kills on my first play and won a little Ratchet Sackboy keyring! J&D were really easy to pick up, responsive, and the little spin move plus the way Daxter get's thrown about on Jak's shoulder makes me quite nostalgic for the first game.
other characters I tried were:
Big Daddy
Drake
Kratos
Dante
Raiden
Spike
Nariko
Evil Cole
Parappa
Ratchet
Sweet Tooth
I walked away from the show with Spike as hands-down, my favourite character, with Nariko a close second. Spike is fun, easy to use, armed to the teeth with awesome gadgets, and I owned the battlefield with him. Didn't really discover his monkey summoning moves on first play, but there'll be time for that later. Nariko, Dante, Kratos and Raiden were all immensely powerful as well. Everyone gravitated towards their own favourites though.
Favourite stage has got to be Stowaways. It's goddamn beautiful, guys, and the transition from cramped to massive really changes the dynamic of the battle. Had a go on all of them at some point, including Alden's Tower.
So yeah, completely positive experience, couldn't be happier. Fuck the haters. This was game of the show for our merry lot, and we played everything - God of War Ascension, TR, Rising, Hitman, AC3, DMC.
It also made me think about how much joy it brings as it is, with or without DLC characters. I know you guys are feeling sore about the roster not being what you thought it should be, but you should still stay hyped because what the game has, in terms of characters, stages, gameplay and charm is believe it or not, ENOUGH. I hope Kat gets in there and I think there's a few little shames in what was picked, but overall I just can't wait for this beast to come out so I can started kicking ass and taking names again as soon as possible.
Also got my photo taken with Ami Nakajima.
Wait... didn't Seth recently say that we are going to see a new PS1 character? Colin from IGN also said he saw some characters he couldn't talk about (after the latest characters were announced)
$5.99 for blockbuster characters like Ryu Hyabusa.
The worst part is that everyone was expecting the best to be saved for last, with maybe a real killer third-party character to slam the hype into fifth gear, yet "last" happened weeks ago. Oh well, bring on the DLC I guess. I've never hated the concept of DLC more in my life than right now.

Wait... you serious?EDIT: I can now confirm that the internal reasoning for the massive Sony PR layoff a few weeks back was due largely in part to the handling of this game.
Yes.Wait... you serious?

your post hyped me up way more than all things superbot did for the past 2 months (excluding the beta)
Well at least Omar said that if Crash was in the game, he wouldn't be DLC ....
oh wait. :|
Confirmation Crash will NEVER be in the game, I guess.
Well you edited but that is thread worthy stuff if you want to still share it. I guess not and I get that.Yes.
In a recent interview, Platinum Games and Koji Pro alluded that this was supposed to be the case with Raiden and acknowledged their severe disappointment with both PSASBR and the team behind it.
They were told that Raiden was getting a massive surprise reveal to himself but once the game leaked Superbot decided to rush out the character releases four at a time and Platinum was pissed because they wanted that one character reveal to be a boost for Raiden.
Superbot severely fucked up with the beta leak and instead of acknowledging it and just saving a few choice reveals like Raiden for last, they mindlessly revealed a bunch of characters and then used Paul Gale as a community manager of sorts to keep the base interested by teasing non-existent reveals. Since Gale isn't technically a Superbot employee, they know that they won't et shit if they throw out false hype.
Sadly, the Paul Gale shit has all but been a scapegoat for the larger problem, the PR team is having severe issues marketing the game and while I am still there day one for this, it's being primed for failure this holiday.

*snip*
We still have 3 stages we did not see yet.Fucking community needs it, man. But yeah, as much as I, and we would all individually love our own *perfect* roster, as it is I'm happy for them to release this game the way I played it today so I can have it in my veins.
I mean it's fucking Kratos, Nariko, Raiden and Drake fighting each other on U3's plane with the Columbia skycity flying in the background. Come on, son. And there's minimal excitement around here?
As much as I compeltely agree with Afro's post above, maybe it's time to stop griping about the marketing/reveals and just congratulate Superbot on doing a great job on the game.
Plus tbh, I'm still hyped just for the unrevealed stages and their mashups.
Well, then at the very least one good thing came out of this game. SCEA marketing was awful.EDIT: I can now confirm that the internal reasoning for the massive Sony PR layoff a few weeks back was due largely in part to the handling of this game.

I posted a couple of days ago about how I suspected the marketing layoff and this game's very weird PR handling may be related. I was thinking more along the lines of how such a transition could screw with releasing info, though.
Totally agree but the problem is that the proper pre-launch hype and early sales will completely determine whether or not Sony decides to truly support this game with DLC the likes of Kat, Crash and Ico characters. As much as I compeltely agree with Afro's post above, maybe it's time to stop griping about the marketing/reveals and just congratulate Superbot on doing a great job on the game.

If people would like specifics, I'll happily PM them what I pm'd you post-edit. But yeah, that's thread-worthy stuff.Yeah, that kind of confirmation is definitely thread-worthy.

Don't think for a second that we're getting any DLC characters if this game bombs.
Look at Starhawk, and I am pretty sure this game will do much better.I think that's obvious.
To people who are keeping their expectations in check it is.I think that's obvious.
To people who are keeping their expectations in check it is.
I will take a glance at Starhawk after I look at all of the countless bombs that didn't get random free DLC (probably to promote the new split SP/MP download).Look at Starhawk, and I am pretty sure this game will do much better.
Its going to get DLC no matter what the outcome is.
Does he have a tag? lolI'm just laughing at the fact that Paul Gale was teasing even more reveals when there is none. For shame on him.
That sentence may sound crazy and makes this game sound creative and out there, but in reality it really doesn't.
What you wrote is like the bare minimum of what a crossover game means since the original Smash Bros and the multitude of Capcom cross over fighting games. You need to do more then just that to sell this game. Seriously you can write that exact type of thing about every single crossover game ever made.

https://twitter.com/SuperBotEnt/status/251489679994650624@jessej3117 Legitimate question. We don't have any reveals this weekend. Wish we could share more! Thx for sticking with us. Almost there.
