We've known about this game for so long, it's hard to think of it as "early" but i know what you mean...
I wonder what the target audience for this game is
They require a Wii Remote, thus causing input lag & wireless interference at tournament settings. The only wired solution the Wii U will support at the moment is the GameCube Adapter.I picked up two of the wii u fight sticks because they were on clearance. I plug them though a may flash adapter and use them on PC. Lol.
Not to mention smash is simplified fighting game incarnate and its a amazing seriesI wouldn't read too much into that statement.
All it sounds like they're doing is making it more "approachable". So that people who don't play these types of games often won't get scared off immediately if they don't know the first thing about 1-frame links and the like.
Persona 4 Arena is another example of a game that "simplified" some things compared to some other games in ASW's catalog, and it wasn't the worst off for it.
I know they do, but I just use them at home using a Wii classic pro adapter may flash has and I noticed no lag on PC. The only game I tried on Wii u are VC games and tatsunoko vs Capcom. They require a Wii Remote, thus causing input lag & wireless interference at tournament settings. The only wired solution the Wii U will support at the moment is the GameCube Adapter.
What about the TVC fightstick? is that also wireless? They require a Wii Remote, thus causing input lag & wireless interference at tournament settings. The only wired solution the Wii U will support at the moment is the GameCube Adapter.
Even Nintendo doesn't want to release games on Wii U.
Not reallyThere is absolutely no way this game will not end up on Wii Us within the first year after it's released in Arcades.
I just don't believe Nintendo would let Namco off that easily when the Wii U is struggling as much as it is.
Come on...don't be that guy. It's not true.
Either that or they don't want to flood the market with Wii U games.
The original teaser we only saw through cam footage, so any flaws were likely removed due to focus, glare etc.
I'd say this teaser looks better, to be honest.

Or, and here's a notion, they're following Namco's advice on how to get fighting games perfect and having an arcade release first, and then a console version later.
I'm not seeing hardcore fighting game fans getting excited for this in my opinion. This game appeals more to the Smash playerbase.

Fighting game players play anything, if they will play all the loli animu girl fighters made by doujin or small companies, they will play a pokemon fighting game made by Harada and the Tekken team.
I don't know why people have this idea that somehow releasing a game on arcades first automatically makes it more balanced or free from other problems.
It's a different strategy, to appeal to a different audience, gain an additional revenue stream.
Or do people think a 100 or whatever arcade centres is better feedback on balancing than a million + first week sales on the Wii U.
There will be several location tests prior to actually being released. Location tests use feedback from players to balance/change the game prior to actual release. After actual release, fans complaints/concerns are listened to for additional fixes/changes. What you may not see as significant may very well be something that hinders the highly competitive quality of a game.
And that is no different than any of the fighting games I was talking about.
I will say this...I fully expect this game since it is announced for Japanese Arcades to be more like GANBARIDE from Kamen Rider.I see this working in the following manner:
You go and collect cards or figures to use and play at the machine and you level them up to face your opponents. Leveling unlocks points and those yield new fighters to hence level etc etc.
Its a collect-a-thon mindset in a fighter and it BANKS money for Kamen Rider in Arcades. I could easily see this being the preferred method for them to utilize Near Connectivity and Pokemon on consoles since Pokemon Rumble didn't work out as anything but a prototype.

This I'd made by Harada's team. I have faith in this.Obviously, but when was the last time you saw Arcana Heart 3 get top billing at a tournament? Yes, we as the FGC play everything. Doesn't necessarily mean that every game gets players. I see it relegating to KI status and having a small base of dedicated players.
Now I want a Mega Machamp
I wish capcom was making this. Not a fan of tekken style gameplay and feel like capcom would be a better fit considering Pokemon should really be more about projectiles and special abilities than hand to hand combat. Oh well, I'll take what I can get lol

Nowadays companies do the same for console releases.
Netherrealms, Lab Zero, whoever's developing Yatagarasu, Capcom, and so on.
An arcade release does not make it special.
And if you're a SoulCalibur fan, it's just one more pinch of salt on an open wound.

I haven't seen this posted before.

Q: Is it true that Tekken characters [will] be making guest appearances in Pokemon/Pokken Tournament?
Harada: Ha, ha, ha. Nope, Tekken characters will not be making an appearance.
Harada: As we're making a Pokemon fighting action battle game, I've already touched on this while on the livestream, but in this game there will not be a high/mid/low guard system mechanic. Instead, we're planning to include a new type of [mechanic]
Q: -As it's a fighting game, I'm a little worried that the roster will be full of humanoid-looking Pokemon.. I'd rather be surprised with unexpected picks instead.
Harada: That's not a problem at all. Technologically-speaking, we shouldn't face any problems in implementing whatever Pokemon we want. In terms of the system mechanics, we'll be looking at what fans would want, so please rest assured.
Q: Congrats on making Pokken a reality! And thank you for that! Rather than tweet you a request, today I've got a bit of a query: in Pokken Tournament it seems like Pokemon trainers do not exist? It's not that I'm requesting for them to make an appearance, but rather I'd just like to find out if that's the case.
Harada: Worry not.
When i saw this new trailer, i was a little dissapointed. It doesnt look as polished as this...
