what seems to be happening is that something occurs and forces the console to stop recording the retroactive 15 minutes, and it can't restart by itselft. some folks notice that the recording stops when you go back to the system, there might be other things happening in the background causing this recordin pause. It's exactly how Sony say it works, you are using it wrong.
Go into the Share menu and press Option to see for yourself. There's 2 button configs for the Share button you can choose from.
The default:
- short press = display menu (to save either video of previous 15 mins/screenshot)
- long press = take screenshot
- double press = START new video recording
The easy screenshot variant:
- short press = take screenshot
- long press = display menu (to save either video of previous 15 mins/screenshot)
- double press = START new video recording
So you should never use double press unless you know that you want to record what you are going to play. Double press is not for retroactive recording the previous 15 minutes.
The problem is that the recording of the previous 15 minutes is bugged and sometimes is a completely different video clip from long ago.
you might want to tell it to start if you know there is something coming up you want to record.
Although for me, it seems like the 'spur of the moment' memory catching should be the primary action, so one of the share button functions should be to save the last xx mins without interrupting gameplay by going to a menu
This, for me, seems to have been resolved, but my advice would be, if you do something you want to capture, immediately go to the share menu in either fashion and press Triangle, this will manually create a video of the last 15 minutes or however long you have been playing the game and then begin again from that point.

You shouldn't need to tell it to start recording as it is always meant to be recording.
Did someone cover the the updated Music Unlimited OS app yet?
The app itself seems to be a bit improved. Multi-tasking works better as it doesn't take so long loading the app again from the main menu (double PS button press works anyway).
You can still use it across accounts (free MU sub forever! ;D ) and the switch accounts option now makes it even more convenient.
However, it still doesn't mute the music from any game... So I guess that's a "feature" and not a bug. Really hampers the ingame music OS feature, adding mp3 support won't change that.
Does it still stop playback after every 5 songs or so? It's been pretty damn unreliable since launch for me. I wish one of these teams played the damn 360 while developing their systems, it did this perfectly.
I have no problem with upload, but I can't download Stick it to the Man. Server error every time. And this happen just on PS4. No problems with PS3 or Vita.I'm not sure this is due to the new firmware, but since yesterday this is happening to me:
Any idea what the reason might be? (My internet connection works fine.)
How is the share button holding up for everyone? Any problems getting the correct 15 minutes of video for anyone? I don't have my PS4 with, so I can't check...

Has anyone actually tried to move 800mb video file to a 3.0 USB stick and timed it
Depends on the site. It won't play Flash video. But HTML 5 video should work fine.
If you're trying YouTube, go to www.youtube.com/tv
This + the DVD/Blu-ray DNR shows some work's being done on the Blu-ray player already. Hopefully compatibility's improved. This may have been mentioned already but I bumped into a new undocumented feature while watching a Blu-ray tonight. You can press the PS button and it will bring up the ps4 ui instead of asking if you want to quit the disc.
Thanks for answer mate but I think my issue is I try & transfer 4 vids at 800mb each at one time & it is just a crawl (if that lol) really annoying I got a 3.0 on orderNot sure if it's related, I'm using a USB2.0 stick, and every time I insert it and transfer a file it hangs for a couple of minutes showing 10seconds remaining. After a couple of minutes it transfers.
Then if I transfer more files it does it instantly.
I've also ordered a usb3.0 stick because the transfer time on USB 2.0 is not even 1MB/s.

System: No more log in screen when reconnecting the DS4
I just connected my USB portable hdd (2.0) and as usual it's stuck on 0kb/461MB (10 seconds left) and it's been 2 mins or so and it hasn't transferred nothing despite my portable hdd light flashing.
Edit: it started now and it's going very slow, about 1MB every 4 seconds. I think the drive is formatted in MAC extended.
I think the software is buggy.
Maybe some people could post their transfer times and type of HDD/flash drives they use so we can get an idea if it's widespread.
Getting pretty horrible speeds with a USB 2 pen drive formatted in exFAT. Well below 1MB/s same drive gets around 15MB/s on a PC.
System: No more log in screen when reconnecting the DS4
It took me 10mins to transfer just under a gig to USB 2.0 flash drive (exFAT). Once I connected it to my computer it transferred it in 30-40seconds.

While that is true, I think based on the impresisons and the write speeds here it seems more like that Sony is doing file I/O synchronously instead of asynchronously or issuing a final sync after a full file transfer.Write Speed and Read Speed are very different on USB 2.0: When you write to the stick is much slower...
Fifa 14 don't start any more. Start the game but after the language menu the game switch off the console.
Someone have the same problem?
Same here. I presume the PS4 reboots into Safe Mode? I have it with FF. Haven't tried FIFA but Battlefield works fine.
Battlefield and Infamous work well me too.
Anyone else having terrible audio drop out issues? Mine drops in and out randomly, and high pitched beeps and sounds come out.

I've isolated it to at least my HDMI switcher, because when i plug it into my TV directly the audio seems to work fine through the TV speakers and not drop out.
This used to work fine before the 1.70 update. Also, I hadn't even toggled HDCP on or off. Doing so produces WORSE results.
no one having the same problems? Im so frustrated.

My PS4 is connected straight to one of the TV HDMI ports and I'm running the sound through optical to my receiver. Everytime I start the PS4 after the update, I'm experiencing random sound drops that they go away after 10-15 mins. Before the update I was experiencing random sound drops only while playing NBA2K14, but now the sound drops with any game. No idea what's going on.
