We'll see. You people seem confident in the source, but I just can't see this being real. It's such a fucking weird move for a company that already has the most powerful console on the market, and already control a vast majority of the marketshare to boot.
Most people that have even a passing interest in owning a PS4 already do so. Sure, many will probably buy the new one regardless if they own the original, but most people will just feel annoyed and ripped off.
Also, this would, if true, completely invalidate some of the things that makes me like console gaming more than PC gaming.
From a dev perspective, it's a lot easier to target one SKU instead of two, and from a player perspective I really appreciate the even playing field consoles have traditionally provided me with. And I like knowing I'm getting the same experience as everyone else, even when I'm not playing something competitive.
On the other hand, this would, if true, kind of explain Spencer tip-toeing around potential Xbone upgrades. He might know something.
In summary, maybe it's true, but if it is I neither understand it nor like it.
