How is that screen? I'm tempted to get one.
I would love to make some footage for you, but my camera is far from good enough.
Here's a try though:
It's pretty much the same screen as a 1000 or 2000 one, except the blacks are just a little bit brighter but it's hardly noticeable. How could i describe the ghosting..
okay, look at this:

The black windows trailing behind is the ghosting problems that everybody has with the psp, it was pretty much like that on my first screen. Imagine it being 90%-95% less, that's what it would be like on my actual 1000 screen. Like i said before, i have "close to" no ghosting, you have to look at it really closely to even realise that there is ghosting. I have never seen anyone with a better display than me until now, including the revised 1000 units of which i had one for 2 weeks. (I don't know anybody that changes the display of his psp as well..)

I was watching some videos and it looks like it's not that hard to replace the screen.
That totally depends on your experience in dismounting stuff and putting it together again. I didn't find it too hard to change the screen, but the PSP was the most cramped thing i worked on til' now, the really managed to put loads of shit in it (poor people that had to solder modchips in them).
Keep in mind that you need a very small cross screwdriver and you may need some of this:
It's some sort of foam to put around the screen so the dust won't get in easily. Like this:
You sould also have some
compressed air to get the dust out of the way without touching the screen
or the faceplate (which is more sensible on the inside!)

You have me very very interested.
I'd like to know as much as you could tell us about this custom screen. Really no ghosting? Same quality as the original PSP screen? Is it availible for 2000 models?
I've been considering getting a PSP for a while now but couldnt decide what I wanted. On one hand I love all the things custom firmware lets you do such as play PS1 games and load multiple UMD games on a mem stick. Yet the 3000 really attracted me with its vivid screen and claims of no ghosting. Yet now that these problems have come up with the 3000's screen I dont want one & am currently in limbo as to what to do.
If I could get a 2000 and swap the screen out with one that had no ghosting I'd consider pulling the trigger right now.
I don't know what else to say about it. Don't expect the enhancements of the 3000 series, maybe the best thing to do is go into a store and look at one of the original 2000 or 1000 screens and see if you like them, if the color gamut etc. is ok to you. Only then i would consider buying a console and replacing the screen.
I can only tell you about the experiences i have with my 1000 screen. I know there are
screens for the 2000 on eBay and such but don't know if they eliminate the ghosting issues.
hope this helped..
