A trip to the Maya Civilization
The version presented in this event was in clear state of early stages (pre-alpha), although you could already see some of the features that will set the so desiered return of Lara Croft. First of all, its important to note that the majority of the information regarding the plot was omited, and the only certainty is that the game will be set in the jungles of Chiapas State, in Mexico. The cosmology of the Mayan Civilization will be backround for the plot/story - one of the traits of this ancient civilization was the mastering of Astronomy and the indepth study of celestial movements, being the Mayan calendar today a reference because of it's accuracy.
Even though we don't know official details, the game will recreate the famous Mayan underworld, Xibalba; at least, that is how the presentation ended, with Lara solving a gigantic puzzle that opens the door to this parallel world of spirits and gods of death and disease.
The level played will be the 4th chapter of the game, and it's set in an archeological complex where rain is a constant. Between the presented enemies, we can find bats, leopards, and humans who try to get to Xibalba's entrance as well. Lara leaves footprints in the mud, gets wet, and the objects and bodies left behind don't mysteriously desappear. The ilumination/lighting is worthy of note, in real-time, in terms of interaction with the stages and objects, demonstrating a great deal of credibility, giving us great imersion, worthy of a next-generation game.
