Acty and Capcom seem fine with doing that to XB fans, lol.
I can't see infinite warfare getting descents numbers from the Xbox side this year.
Rockstar has historically also been more "fan friendly", while Activision and Capcom have had poorer reputations of business first, fans second attitudes. Street Fighter is also a fraction the size of Red Dead, and in the case of CoD and Activision, that's a deal favoring the console with the significantly higher install base. A Microsoft Red Dead deal would alienate what is by far Rockstar's largest market.
But you agree that would be a hell of a bump on console sales, even with timed exclusivity.
Did the exclusivity deal with Capcom with SFV hurt its reputation with Xbox Fans??? It didn't. So it's the case with Rockstar. Nobody gets hurt if this deal happen...
To be honest, considering Bully ant Warriors only on PS4 it's clear that Rockstar is open to deals...
Yes, of course it would bump sales. But would it be to the point that it's worth justifying the costs? In order to cover the lost sales from true exclusivity MS would have to pony up somewhere around $300m (this is a conservative based off of Redemptions sales on PS3). That money could fund the entire development costs of 3-5 AAA first party games. It's just not worth that much money. They could do a timed exclusive, and it's not
impossible that would happen, but I'm unconvinced it would. It's one thing to net Rise of the Tomb Raider (which in the end didn't seem to be all that beneficial for MS), it's another to net a game that sells tens of millions.
As for Capcom and SFV, honestly? Probably a little? But as I already said, Street Fighter is a much,
much smaller game, and Capcom is no stranger to high profile exclusives. Furthermore, hasn't SFV's numbers been less than expected? That's not exactly encouraging for a deal involving a
far more expensive game.
