Already backed. Nice! Glad to see it funded.
Wow, I've never seen somebody miss the mark this much.
This isn't even close to being a similar argument.
Disheartening. To reveal new stretch targets without any chances of seeing them being met is pissing me off :/
We are currently planning on keeping the PayPal store open for several months after the Kickstarter campaign ends and all PayPal pledges will count toward the STRETCH GOALS! We'll update the main Kickstarter page with our PayPal total regularly so that everyone can see our continued progress ^_^
9 days and a little over $6k to go in order to get Risky Boots as playable. Keep it up folks!
We might get them with this.
Even after several months, I doubt they'll triple their goal. An alternative could be to go through with it and secretly create all of the stretch goals, then gradually offer them as DLC and free updates to rekindle interest. This eliminates having to get the team together for a second round of development, and I'm confident sales would make up the Kickstarter difference, even before any DLC is released.
Sadly, unless WayForward has reserve funds that they can rely on, this is a pipe dream. Shantae could go on and make millions for WayForward, but it won't matter if that theoretical money comes after development. The employees will all still have bills to pay and thus need to be paid in the meanwhile.
Judging from some of the comments that have been made, it seems as though WayForward is basically living paycheck to paycheck. For the licensed games they do, they're paid in increments as they hit milestones during development, and then they never see anything on the order of royalties from the games they develop because of the contracts they get into.
So here's hoping Half-Genie Hero does go on to make them a few million, from which point they should be able to fund another game or two of their own. This is similar to how the Yacht Club Games guys have said that any and all profits from Shovel Knight will go into development of their next title.
This right here is a big reason I get annoyed when devs sign on with a publisher after a successful Kickstarter campaign. I don't know about the rest of you but I feel that I'm supporting the studio as much as I am the game in question.

I dunno, it seems like they have enough assets to deliver most if not all the unmet stretch goals as DLC if they really wanted to. At least I think this shouldn't be an issue if they already have a publisher for the game, right?
Confirmed Voice Acting stretch goal.
Anime/Game Voice Actor fans, who is your pick for Shantae?
My top three are Janet Varney, Laura Bailey, or Tara Strong.
are there any actual middle eastern or Persian voice actresses out there?
Not sure. A commentor on Kickstarter mentioned Christina Vee. Not sure what nationality she is though.
The voice of Noel from Blazblue eh? could work. she's got a nice resume going so far.
about that, was it recorded anywhere?Pretty sure she did the theme song and did some mock voice acting on a stream last night.

So that leaves a Chapter and something to do with TV (A commercial, perchance?)

The previous shantae games were self published.

What kind kind of person is Santa?
I don't really get the problem with the tinkerbat exclusive. If it was a significant piece of gameplay then sure, I'd get it, but it just seems like a novel little bonus for some backers.
Actually Capcom published the original game.
It's the best transformation in the game (and it isn't like there are tons of transformations).
It has unique moves, unique animations, and also combines abilities of other transformations to make it very handy to use.
And it's $55.
OK, you can play the game without it. But I hate this tactic and I hate the possibility of it catching on. Right now you have people charging $55 for the best transformation, but not an essential one (though if it isn't fun to play as, why put it in at all). Maybe next time someone charges $55 for Booster V 2.0 in Cave Story.
I just look at it differently then you I guess. It doesn't bother me if I don't get something that doesn't add any new gameplay or content.
It does add new gameplay and content though. Unique moves, unique animations, and combining abilities in one transformation (all of which makes it a unique and useful transformation for gameplay purposes). That's the definition of gameplay and content.
Then there is the $60 transformation in Mighty No. 9. Do you already know it doesn't add any gameplay or content?
I mean gameplay and content made for it, like how levels are designed around using the different transformations. It's not adding anything to the game that wasn't there already albeit spread across the different transformations. Unless I'm missing something and there actually will be content designed with the tinkerbat in mind.
New stretch goal revealed!
New stretch goal revealed!
Knew it.
There's also this:
Quick GAF, let's scrounge up $600k!
oh god....New stretch goal revealed!
Yeah, I don't mind if they miss this one, to be honest.New stretch goal revealed!
Same here, actually. I dunno what to expect, so I'm hesitant.Yeah, I don't mind if they miss this one, to be honest.
They're extending the funding period through PayPal.I don't even know why they are bothering to still reveal stretch goals. There is no way they more than double the total funds already accumulated in only a week, even with the final day or two push. I am betting this ends up at 700k max, and that may be generous. Would love to be wrong though.
