Because it seemed obvious to me from the design of the whole thing.
You're sliding a screen up and down against plastic. What did people think would happen? Nintendo really should have spent the extra money on either gorilla glass, or something cheaper in the dock to protect the screens. Like line it with something.
It was big news back in the day. Prompted amazon to react due to the huge number of returns they got for the 3DS near launch. Just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it didn't happen at all.Didn't even know this was a thing. Just checked my launch 3DS and yeah, no scratches around where the bottom screen touches the top.
Plastic shouldn't be scratching glass (because physics), and I'm struggling to think of any modern consumer devices with capacitive touchscreens made from plastic.
The whole concept of the Switch revolves entirely around docking and undocking, too, so I find this scratching information rather dubious.
I find it so funny and sad that's so many people jump to conclusions after one report of an issue. "Dock scratched my screen" = happens to everyone. "Left joycons disconnects" = happens to everyone. Etc etc. Stop jumping to conclusions some of you, damn.
They did add something. What Nintendo didn't add any felt or anything on the front of the inside of the dock? Seems like a pretty obvious thing to do.
I am not surprised.
At least the de sync has multiple reports. This is all based on one report that multiple people have been unable to replicate.
It isn't a plastic screen. It's glass. No need to spread misinformation.
I did. But I had played with it prior to the screen protector arriving. It came with a dry cloth and microfiber cloth as well.
Here's some pictures I'll try to get. Better shot without reflection so you guys can see how it sits. Tempered glass protectors are just amazing in terms of application. Only ones I never seem to have an issue with. Aside from liquid ones.
Would cloth even help? I used to put a microfiber cloth between my OG 3DS screens when closing the shell and I still ended up with scratches.I think I'll line the dock with felt or a microfiber cloth. That's probably the easiest solution plus a screen protector. Always wrap it up.
I opened it up and it apparently vanishedThere is a thread about the plastic screen here.. Can't seem to find it however
Dirty felt is way more likely to scratch your screen than the dock isWhat Nintendo didn't add any felt or anything on the front of the inside of the dock? Seems like a pretty obvious thing to do.

It should have required the disconnection of the Joy-Con, and slid in on guided rails into the dock making ZERO possibility of screen to plastic contact. The rails are already part of the system design to lock the Joy-Con to the middle/screen part of the system. Would it have been so hard to add guide rails on the sides instead of leaving it open a-la taco style?

Are you telling me you don't open-palm slam your Nintendo Switch into place to round out a great jam sesh on the ol' Hyrule Express? My dude, the Switch was made to be slam dunked. If you're not serving it up wildstyle, I've got nothing but pity for you.
http://m.neogaf.com/showpost.php?p=231439903Hopefully someone makes a tempered glass screen protector.
Thanks for posting these, I've just ordered a set.
The dock bothered me the very first time I used it. Can't believe there isn't any sort of soft material in there.
i'm smelling horse poop on this, like a little smoke and mirrors, create hysteria, drive some sales.
yep.

Beta testers doing their job.
The difference for me right now is that we only have reports about the quality of the "amFilm" brand..so I went with amFilmBetween the two tempered glass protectors, are they about the same, or are there any notable differences in color or quality?
Unrelated but did you buy a Neon Switch+Red/Blue joy-con pair+Double Grey joy-con pair in order to get two red joy cons and a grey pair ?
how will a/v/data transfer and charging work through pogo pins/magnets?

The screen is plastic, this checks out. Get yourself some screen protectors.
Oops, forgot about the Vita lol.The Vita's screen was. There is merit in plastic. It's cheaper and doesn't shatter easily which for consoles and especially for Nintendo that sees their systems as toys is a benefit. It's better if your kid drops their system to scratch the screen than shatter it.
I guess we can all look forward to this now.Switch seems to have a plastic screen.
So what are the best screen protector options available? Never bought one but after my n3ds got scratched for nothing I want to get one for Switch
The pre merged thread had pictures of a Switch with scratches after a week of useSo wait, have there been any confirmed scratched screens or just scratched screen protectors?
No I just bought the double red Joy-cons and had a Grey Switch.
