Gus Black - Paranoid

It's the best cover that i have heard in my life. It changes the song dramatically, creating almost something new. While the original sounds like some hardcore drug infested paranoia, this one is sounds more about alcohol induced depression. I love it.

Frank Sinatra's My Way and Claude Francois Comme d'Habitude are both better than Hervé Vilard's For Me.

AFI's acoustic rendition of Bowie's Ziggy Stardust is pretty fantastic.

AFI - 'Ziggy Stardust': https://youtu.be/kvJQ2VeeUOI

AFI tend to make great versions of the songs they cover.

Murder by Death kills it as well and even have a kickstarter backed cover album where pledgers requested the songs. I never heard of the below song, and though I like it, the male singer who comes in on the original ruins it for me. So MBD's version stays consistently fresh throughout as a result.

Fun fact: They have a second cover album coming out and they are covering Bowie's Moonage Daydream at mine and my wife's request (and payment).

I'm surprised a lot of people prefer Metallica's Whiskey in the jar and Turn the page. They're not bad covers in my opinion, but I think Thin Lizzy's and Bob Seger's versions respectively have a much richer sound.

My pick for the moment: I prefer Joe Bonamassa's Ball peen hammer over Chris Whitley's.

Lots of people do Bob Dylan better than Bob Dylan

Adele - "Make You Feel My Love"

Miley Cyrus feat. Johnzo West - "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go"

And this cover is a pretty drastic change of genre by Swift:

Taylor Swift - "Untouchable"
Luna Halo - "Untouchable"

EDIT: I found my old post from last time this thread happened http://www.neogaf.com/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=142279675

Rise Against's cover of Ballad of Hollis Brown is really excellent.

Yeah, Nirvana - The man who sold the world

David Bowie liked it a lot but would get annoyed when people would say to him that he's doing a Nirvana song lol

Florence + the Machine's cover of You Got the Love.

Newton Faulkner's cover of Teardrop I don't think is necessarily better than the original, but it's a nice take on it.
