Sony might actually get the PS4 to 120m
You guys are just trolls at this point. Let me guess.......you fully support yourself and others buying a Xbox Series S though right?
While this was obvious, this wasn't the message that Sony was conveying, they were saying a clean break was necessary for true next gen games, then went and announced most AAA games as cross gen. And now this.
You can play every game (except three, I believe) on your PS4. For a lot of people that's probably not worth the $500!
Well, I don't need one, but yeah, I do support people buy an XSS if they want it..? I don't get the point you're trying to make. I like my PS5 but right now if you aren't interested in Demon's Souls, Returnal or Ratchet then spending $500 for improved framerate/resolution and load times is a pretty massive ask for a lot of people and I completely understand why someone would sell the system.
1. Millions of people do seem to disagree with the bolded.
2. Why the heck would someone sell their PS5 to get a PS4? It's literally the dumbest thing in video gamer history to do. It's hustling backwards.
3. People always seem to say 60fps matters to them, and yet we're now to believe improved framerates of today's best games "don't" matter? Come on man.
4. Decreased load times is a quality of life feature that's super undervalued. But once you get it, there's literally no going back. Only an idiot would want to go from 4 second load times to 90 seconds.
5. There are some posters that are super PRO Xbox Series S, that are trying to turn this thread into something it's not. It's clear as day and we know their motives.
No, if you go back to the communication, FranXico replied to my comment (speculation) by bringing PS2 sales. I wanted to show that even if it looked the same for PS2 & PS3 (selling consoles after their next gen started), their motives could be different and has a chance to be different. Not sure what comment you are referring to. You asked why PS5 had BC and that's what I answered. Are you talking about your comment suggesting PS3 remained in production in order to outsell 360? That's just speculation, nothing to invalidate.
Crossgen was already stated till 2024 for Sony while people were bitching about MS saying crossgen until 2022 soI really hope this doesn’t mean they’ll stretch crossgen out even further.
Hopefully it’s just to meet a possible increase in demand because of Horizon FW, GT7 and God of War Ragnarök.
Still, doesn’t sound like a good thing to me.

For example, PS3 launched with PS1 & 2 emulation, but it was then later removed. Why? due to high cost and they wanted to bring the price of PS3 down.
Was it also cost that did not allow PS4 to have PS3 emulation? Not exactly; the architecture of PS3 would prove impossible for PS4 to emulate PS4 games.
So, a similar phenomena (a Sony console lacking backward compatibility of its predecessor) could have 2 different causes.
Clearly you don't. You can seek after something and get it or not. Seeking after something doesn't mean you don't get it. With the Switch, you can get it. English not your first language, mate?
You don't clearly don't know what sought after means.
Well I have an XSX so I understand the reduction in loading times. However, I also have an SSD in my PC so I get that same benefit. Now I have not played Halo Infinite or Forza Horizon 5 on my PC to see if the loading times on the XSX are that much quicker, but I do understand the benefits an SSD brings. But $500 for better loading times? LOL, not a great value propPerhaps if you played some games on those PS5s instead of flipping them then you might have a different perspective. I'm more inclined to game on Xbox and/or PS5 than PC at this point due to the substantial reduction in loading times. I fired up Halo Infinite on PC all of one time. Same for Forza Horizon 5. Stark difference in that regard. And like @DeepEnigma said, we are finally getting PC level performance on consoles. But if you just want to flip consoles rather than play the games then that's up to you.
Fair enough. I've enjoyed the consoles thus far myself. To each their own.
A niche product that will not draw in the mainstream? What's your point? I made that comment as of today and saving it wasn't a great value proposition today. You're talking about the future, probably the end of this year. Quite a ways away! You do realize that PSVR2 is coming out this year right?

That may not necessarily be true, don't be surprised if at least one or more dev scramble to announce downported versions to last-gen that may not have been announced/known before.
LOLPC SSD isn't the "same benefit" as console SSD at all due to the lack of dedicated hardware compression. This is what Direct Storage and RTX IO hopes to provide but PC isn't there yet.
And no, $500 isn't just for "better loading times". Better visuals and frame rate.....you do get that, right? Why did you even bother buying an XSX? Why not just flip it like you did all those PS5s?
No problem man, and I admit my post was just baseless speculation.Ok......don't necessarily disagree with any of that. And again, my response wasn't attempting to invalidate anything, simply answering the question.
Thats how they make money.Indeed.
Sony stops production of PlayStation 2
Sony has ended production of its best-selling PlayStation 2 console and will no longer supply them to shops in Japanwww.bbc.com
Bloomberg seems desperate to generate news.
Sony would never release a Series S type console because the PS4 is already a good budget option for the time being. If I were Sony right now, I'd probably be looking at the red-hot sales of the Xbox Series S which has been able to side-step the chip shortage and thinking why we didn't develop an entry-level console as well.
Wont this prolong cross gen even more?
They only scale back for demand. This scale back was due to chip shortage. Maybe because the shortage is easing up and they still sell globally to places PS5 hasn't even officially launched? I mean with the PS1 they released PSOne at PS2 launch and sold millions of it. It means nothing in terms of 'cross gen'.Yes, but they typically scale back production. Sony is making a million more PS4s than they did last year. They're increasing production!
Same difference as XSX and XSS. They play the same games, except with better fidelity on the PS5.
You can play every game (except three, I believe) on your PS4. For a lot of people that's probably not worth the $500!

You can play every xbox game on your xbox one except one
You're acting like everybody thinks and feels exactly the same way. Millions of people feeling one way doesn't discredit the people who don't. You can't just say "people" care about a things like 60fps, "people" aren't a group. Selling a PS5 right now isn't dumb if you're not enjoying it enough to justify the cost and can sell it for more than you paid for it new. You do know that, right? Used PS5s still go for more than RRP?
The cost difference between systems might not be much to you and I, but it might be to a lot of people who feel like not having to wait a minute for a game to load between levels is not worth what the $500 they paid to upgrade their console, after they've learned that they could play nearly all the same games on the box they had before. If you really can't understand that then you're severely detached from reality, it's not about people wanting to go back to inferior products, it's about whether the new one is worth the cost at this time.
My PS5's not been turned on for 6 months and won't be until Horizon 2, but you won't catch me calling people idiots for being in the same position and selling the thing until there's more games for it. It's not a bad idea at all, I just don't need the cash back.
Lognor is clearly talking first party only otherwise he would have said PS5 games you can't play on PS4 is greater than 3 too. He even got that wrong because it's 4 if you include a game everyone has forgotten about. All games on PS5 not just 1P would be around 7 or 8 I think.Untrue. There are at least four to my knowledge you can't play natively on Xbox One.

If he didn't imply first party then he is completely wrong then.He doesn't say first party, regardless there are at least four games that only work on Series consoles to my knowledge.

I’ve bought 2 at retail.Can you buy a PS5?
If he didn't imply first party then he is completely wrong then.
Demon's Souls
Returnal
Ratchet and Clank
(I assume these are the 3 he thought of)
But there actually are others like Deathloop, The Medium, Destruction all stars etc.
Anyway, point being he is concerned about people not buying PS5 due to lack of next gen only games yet he went out and bought an Xbox Series which has the least next gen games out there.
You'd think anyone interested in playing those games on PS4 would own one already.
What a wierd take.I like how you assume every gamer cares about those games what if you don't like any of those games? then the PS5 offers absolutely nothing
and PS5/Series are on an even playing field thats the situation I'm in right now until Armored Core (a game I actually want to play) comes out next gen doesn't exist
Lol this thread is hilariousPS5/Series are on an even playing field thats the situation I'm in right now until Armored Core (a game I actually want to play) comes out next gen doesn't exist

I'm not saying selling your PS5 is dumb. I'm saying selling your PS5, in order to buy a PS4 is SUPER DUMB! Literally everything the PS4 can do, the PS5 can do it better. Why wouldn't this potential dumb person just keep their PS5?
Not when I quoted him but ok.He corrected himself I think in the thread, it was 200k for the last q
