All correct? Crazy if true. What a turn around.

Insanity. $5.8 billion from PSN alone. Larger than Steam.

PS4 sales show how out of touch Nintendo is, they are constantly trying to find 'new ways to play' when the majority just want a standard box that sits on their media unit and plays the vast majority of games released.

Nintendo lost that opportunity a long time ago.

If AMD is hitting 7nm next year.. why would Microsoft launch Scorpio this year? 7nm would hugely change what is possible for $400-$500. A new PlayStation would run circles around Scorpio in 2018,

If they push it back too far then it's too late for a mid gen upgrade and as an option to compete with Pro. Market timing is important. On current trends if they pushed it too far back they'd be better skipping it entirely as positioned and simply go full new console.

They made it super easy to use and powerful/feature-rich. In comparison everything on the PS3 was slow and limited yet cumbersome.

That's innacurate since the 3.5B figure is game sales only, estimated by Steamspy, which excludes free to play games and DLCs while PSN includes all of these + PS+ subscriptions.

Sold though as of Jan 02, 2017: 53.4m

We don't have any actual numbers after end of 2016.

I think the PS5's timing will at least partially hinge on what Microsoft does with the Scorpio (time, final specs, general approach).

Sony is completely controlling this next generation change. Trust me....if the PS4 can keep selling like this, they will decide when next gen starts.

All they have to do is get the PS4 slim to $199 with a pack in game to hold MS on the side lines.
