"Your missing Titanfall" - Ryan McCaffrey, IGN.
This is EDI itself the most hyperbolic thread this generation.
Also, original poster appears to have completely missed Plants Versus Zombies Garden Warfare, which is an utterly amazing team based shooter that is also insane and completely different in style and direction to other FPSs out there.

Tons? Well I must be really uninformed then? There's tons of games where you're competing to paint over an area before someone else. I don't see how adding a reticle to it makes it somehow more important.
The most important game will be Bloodborne and The Witcher 3. If these games outsell everything till Batman arrives, then the shift will go back to adventure games. We need more swords/magic and less guns.
Sunset would be way more important to GAF of it wasn't XB1 exclusive.
Splatoon? Sure I guess
Sunset Overdrive? Nah, it looks good but I don't see how it could be important.
inFamous with Dead Rising customisation and Ratchet and Clank weapons, to be precise.
How well they will actually turn out is anyone's guess since they are not out yet but depending on how successful they are, it could have serious implications for this generation. Why do I think this? The answer is 2 fold:
1) Creativity
Both Splatoon and Sunset Overdrive seem to fall into familiar territory with their respective genres but both games breathe new life into it either by unconventional travel methods, unconventional weaponry or in the case of Splatoon making the goal NOT to kill the other player but to claim the majority of the map.
2) Art direction
These games are rich with style and both are not afraid at all to be colorful. This is nothing new for Nintendo but the fps genre for them is. For Sunset Overdrive this game is bold enough to have color and style whereas most other third person shooters are some spectrum of brown.
So, the first person and third person shooter genres I believe could seriously use some shaking up and I think these games are the ones to do it. If these fail we could be hiding behind brown waist high objects or running through yet another military campaign for a long, long time.
rofl? Most important games of a gen? No, we are only a year in right now. Splatoon is doing some new things, SO is not.
Rime fits those criteria too, so why isn't it on your list, OP?
I have a hunch
Yeah, see games that strive for realism are fine by me. However, I grown a bit bored of them. While Bloodborne and Witcher 3 will be good games, they do not excite me because they are going for realism. I get way more excited for games that go outside of reality like Saints Row and Blood Dragon.I know not everybody is gonna agree with this thread, but I definitely do.
The only madness I see is you saying two unreleased games are mediocre.
If we talk industry relevance Destiny seems to be very important. Not because it is a high quality game but because it proved that always online games are accepted by the console market.
The next two important games I would name are Battleborn and The Order 1886. Again quality aside, these two games will show if the market accepts the MOBA model on a AAA level and if the classic high budget single player game is still viable.
What does this mean?
Using that metric, Lollipop Chainsaw was the most important game last gen.
Sunset would be way more important to GAF of it wasn't XB1 exclusive.
What does this mean?
Bloodborne is just a moody Dark Souls.
it also proved that devs can release incomplete games as long as they're fun and have "hooks".If we talk industry relevance Destiny seems to be very important. Not because it is a high quality game but because it proved that always online games are accepted by the console market.

So is Clash of Clans and League of Legends. It's a downloadable game, these rarely influence the industry.
I think you're stretching it OP, but I hope they perform well.
