Stardew Valley |OT| Resting Under a Harvest Moon [Up: now on PS4]

How many levels are there? I've only gotten past the first boss.

3 I believe, I was able to beat the minigame with 1 life remaining, and I can beat the first level/boss without dying, but after that it just gets to be a matter of RNG on the drops. I'll get 4 coffees in a row and 3 coins in a round or something and completely kill all momentum

Either I don't understand fishing or it's really difficult, I seem to only be able to get it by luck
I'm on PS4 and i press square when the green thing is on the fish but the second it moves it's pretty much over because the fish started thrashing around and it's nearly impossible to get a bead on the fish again

Does combat ever change? seems pretty simplistic to me just stand and swing the sword

I do like mining, and farming though

Does upgrading to copper actually do anything? I upgraded my pick axe and axe but it still seems to take the same amount of whacks to break anything

Fishing is tricky; the goal is to keep the fish in the green section until the bar fills up completely. Some fish tend to hover for a while, others love to jump all over. Best advice I can give is to hold the button rather than tap it repeatedly, and keep the fish near the top rather than the bottom of the green bar; it takes longer to descend than ascend. Also, the green section will bounce off the bottom, so carefully tap to control your speed as you drop.

It's very tricky but once you get the hang of it it'll make sense. As you level your fishing skill up (which increases as long as you catch something, even trash) it will also get easier; the fish move less and your green bar gets bigger. Better rods will help yoo. You'll also unlock Crab Pots at level 3 fishing, which increase your fishing skill as well.

Combat stays pretty simple throughout; there's some items you can get that increase your stats or give you effects like magnetism, illumination, etc., but that's about it. There's different weapon types (sword, dagger, hammer) that have different special attacks (block, rapid strike, and ground pound, respectively). That's about it, it's mostly just to make mining more involved / hazardous than tedious.

Upgrading absolutely helps, but the jump from default to copper doesn't increase power, it only allows you to break the big 2x2 stones. Gold is when you really notice an increase in how many hits it takes to break rocks. Axes are kind of the same way; copper only gives you the ability to break stumps. All the other tool upgrades have very noticeable effects (larger hoe / watering area).

This is really disheartening to hear. I've only tried it like 3 times. I'm gonna slowly try to chip away at it.

I want details soo bad. I hope it's interesting, it could literally be anything.

I can't imagine you both live and farm in the same town.

That would be so amazing if you could somehow share a town, or seamlessly go to/from each other's towns. I can't wait, really.

I hope with multi-player you can both live in the same house and each move your spouses in, starting a commune that the townspeople look down on.

Finally made it to fall, game is really addicting, almost like it digs into your brain and presses the just one more day button
Finally realized what you're supposed to do with the community center
Gonna get a barn and silo then hopefully buy some trees, since I'm playing my wife's game I'm a girl so I don't think I'll try to romance anyone none of the single people appeal to me
Fishing is still not great, but farming and foraging is cool

Yep, it's somehow simultaneously mellow and impulsively addictive. The original Harvest Moon was like that as well. Glad you're settling into things and having fun.

As far as marriage candidates, you can marry anyone, male or female, regardless of your character gender. Not sure if that will make any difference to your opinion on romance or not.

Thinking I ran into a bug?
At the casino where you can look at your stats, it says I've crafted zero items. Now I know this isn't true, because I've been slowly working at building at least one of each thing. Has anybody else had this issue? Hoping it's just a numerical bug and that it's actually registering me crafting items, because I'm going for the trophy.

Edit: it fixed itself.

So I'm not sure how Silos are supposed to work, I had my friend install a silo and it's empty but I don't know how to put the cut grass in there, it's right next to my chicken coop but he dispenser won't let it out. Do I need to install another one for the my barn?

Any grass you cut on your farm, either with a sword or scythe, is automatically deposited to your silo. You'll find a bin inside all of your coops and barns that allows you to take some hay out and put it in the trough. The silo can be anywhere on your farm do feel free to move it if you like (I put mine in an out of the way corner).

Havent played this game in a longggg time

I got bored once I got access to that mine quarry and had everything I basically needed and the money flow was insane with the farms and mines and all that

Got too rich, and I enjoy it solely for the struggle lol

Can someone update me on whats the next big patch/thing? I know there was the new maps update and im hoping for more content like that and more in terms of managing farm life

I know MP is coming but is there much info on it, or anything known for sp expansion?

Incredibly Naive
Loving this. Finally jumped in after my gf played for a while. At first I was bored to tears but eventually got hooked and time just disappears once youre in that zone.

Is there a mod for the non-uniform pixels? I just loaded this game up and I couldn't get more than 10 minutes in, I can't stand the terrible sins committed to the otherwise decent pixel art.
FlFVpYy.png

It's not even consistent within assets... look at the pixels on the pickaxe, they're significantly different sizes, not to mention the text. And then the clock hand is being rotated smoothly and has tiny pixels.

Steam needs a tag for 'non-uniform pixels' so that I can ignore them.

I may give it another shot some time because I'm sure it's a great game, but it's so hard to get past this

i was lurking to see why this OT was bumped up because i recently purchased the game a week or two ago and i see this. tbh i let out a cackle

Ah snap! Yeah I got it in like five working days.

Btw where you at?

Five working days is nothing. $12 for shipping is easier to swallow for 5 days.

Is the guide as good as it looks? I know it was produced independently so I'm wondering if it feels "premium" for the price you paid.

And I'm in Taipei.
