Not like anyone is putting a gun to your head to play it. There are plenty of games on steam for you to play that dont involve zombies or shooting.

They're bad? If the gunplay is the same as FEAR 1 I would play them just to use the shotgun a little more.

I really liked them, so I'd give them a chance. Of course, I'm a sucker for everything F.E.A.R. related (except for... nah, it's got old already). They are non-canon, mind you, but I thought the plot in Perseus Mandate was interesting, even though I can't remember anything from it.

But yes, the gameplay is as good as ever. They even added the option to open doors by hitting them with your gun, something that wasn't present in the original game.

Damn, that Pinball Bundle looks neat (as well as the Mobile one), but I don't know if I should buy it, my mother controls my credit card... Well, I could put most of the money on charity and she wouldn't mind, I guess

you'd never have known castle of illusion was a bad port before the patch... it plays and looks fantastic. only bug i ran into in a couple hours of play - i skipped the opening cinematic on my first bootup without watching and couldn't get it to come back, even after starting a new game, so i had to youtube it

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit (fantastic game, brings back the game to its roots to the originals)
Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box (Suoer fun, almost impossible to find haters for the game.)
Need for Speed: Shift (A nice effort by EA on trying to take on GT, still several steps below it though.)

Do not buy:

Shift 2 Unleashed (Tages)
Need for Speed Undercover (very mediocre in general)


All these games have stupid long intro's, honestly go get a cup of tea before starting.

Ah that one. What you want to do is get to the highest point of the steel mill (in the overworld) and you'll want to glide around the the prison wall over the water. You'll see an alcove to enter and the trophy is right in it to pick up.

You will have to do a dive bomb and pull up to make the distance.

How on earth is Max Payne 3 28gb? Going to have to do some spring cleaning.

Surprisingly, Ubisoft actually released good PC ports during the PS2/Xbox/GC generation that were DRM-free.

Well when they're a publisher sure. Developer, not so much. Their Capcom PS2 ports (ala Resi 4, DMC 3 and Onimusha 3) were all really sloppy which if it wasn't for the community behind them they would still be awful. Of the Prince of Persia Sands of Time trilogy pc ports only the first wasn't shipped broken all to hell.

When Windows 8 was coming out, there was a lot of concern over the future viability of Windows as a gaming platform. Valve started focusing on supporting Linux then as a bridge to developing SteamOS to ensure that PC gaming has a home in the future.

Who knows? But Microsoft's track record for supporting stuff is pretty abysmal-- I mean, how many Games For Windows Live games are going to be completely unplayable soon?

I found Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit unplayable due to the 30-60 seconds long unskipable cutscenes and menus after every single race. Add the loading/cutscene before the race and the ratio between gameplay and staring at screen waiting just wasn't worth it.

Talking about racers, weren't we supposed to get news about Sonic Racing Transformed DLC this last wednesday?

No. Valve cannot force developers to port to Linux. But Valve wants developers to get used to a different platform in case Windows starts falling apart within the next decade. If there's already the beginnings of a gaming market on Linux, then developers can start working to port their games over if necessary.

It's not supposed to be a replacement to Windows from what I heard. It's just a way to replicate a Steambox or something like that. People will end up having to dual boot it with Windows unless things change.

What a fun experience. My only gripe is that it's not super fun or easy to use the map and traverse the world if you want to go to a specific spot. One could argue the anti-cubes become way too hard to find, and while that's true, I don't think it's dishonorable to ask for help. Once you find out how to interpret a certain idea late in the game, the rest mostly falls into place.

Vibrant, playful, complex, challenging, and longer than I imagined. Play Fez.

Morrowind is one of my favorite games of all time, I thoroughly recommend it.

These days, it is very simple to mod and get it looking amazing. Only problem is you need a fairly beefy rig to run all of the shaders, they are all run in a wrapper and it is fairly unoptimized.

Skyrim is the most accessible game in the Elder Scrolls series, you're gonna have a lot of fun if it's your first ES game.

Finished DIRT 3 fellow GAFfers.

I'm amazed at how nice this game looks. Seriously. From rain, dust particles, heavy snow, mud and the locations are filled with tiny details. Shadows are great, sound is real enough and the variety of different countries is also good since it can provide different terrains to race. While racing it's amazing to see the flow of the game, steady framerate make this game great too.

- Finished all the races and won the final Championship. Got the 1st Place in all races (which the voice from the game states, which was a nice touch).

- I wish I could skip the Gymkana events. I did not get 1st place in those, I just wanted to be done with them but I also did every single event.

I've been playing this a bit lately and it just feels like it has no direction to it. It might be because I used some trainer type thing to unlock the cars and in turn it unlocked all the events. Is every event supposed to be open? Probably why I'm feeling so lost. Similarly I'm not a fan of the Gymkhana events, I don't think they fit in the game especially. Perhaps there's some knack to it but I wasn't willing to invest the time. Does the game play music in events? It feels like it is just for menus only which is kinda disappointing. Agreed about the visual quality. Super CPU intensive game, even only Q6600 I can't get above 30 fps average.

Good game but a lot of stuff stifles it, from the unskippable menu dialog to the overly similar events. I guess I'm just not cut out for rally games. I would just like to be able to do a world tour rally instead of events sponsored by footwear and energy drinks companies.

What about if you are a fan of the prior games in the series?

Debatable, Skyrim does get rid of some stuff and consolidates a lot of ther features into linear navigation, but it's not really a game-changer for me. Overall the series has been adapting to gaming conventions which depending on your mindset can be good or bad.
