So I played Torchlight for a couple of hours and it's pretty good so far (voice acting is terrible but whatever).

But I have a question. Is there any reason I can't use my numeric pad? I can activate magic and items using the normal numbers but I can't when I try on the pad, I tried with and without num lock but nothing.

Kinda frustrating so help would be really appreciated.


Also I'm thinking of picking up:
Hazen for $3.39
King Bounty: Golden Edition for $9.99

Good games? are they worth it?

Very fun, colorful and surprisingly large (perhaps overly lengthy) RPG/Turn-based strategy. I bought it for 30-ish and felt like that it was a steal considering the amount of quality content you get.

Eeeeeeeeeek, just saw that I have 17 items in my Wish List. Most of them from this sale and I just waited for a daily. Seems the last day will be an expensive one -_-

I am running everything on high just over 720p on my 27" imac with no slow down. I have 8GB of ram and a 4850 ATI card and 2.66 i5.

I'm getting a bit depressed about Borderlands.

How is it possible to release three DLCs without even trying to patch this freeze fest game? After about twenty times my PC froze, I'm not going to play this anymore until Gearbox fix it.

For reference: 1920x1200, high settings, i7 870, win7 64bit, 8gb ram, gtx 275, whql drivers for anything, no overclocking, no enhancements running (ie. nhancer).

I've tried pretty anything: updating and reverting drivers, disabling cpu cores, launching with "- onethread", and so on. The best luck I had is lowering the random freezes, but being next to explosions is instant freeze.

So how many deal are there on the last day usually even though it will most likely be a best of? Nine like there have been each day?

I am hoping to get Deus Ex, Tropic 3, and some other deals I missed earlier in the week.

Anyone else get anything they regret, even for a low price? Mine so far is Kane & Lynch, lol. I've yet to be able to play past the first mission. It even crashes to desktop even if I'm sitting in the menu for too long.

Avencast, there's nothing there that grabs me. played for 20 minutes or so, then went to play the other stuff I got.
Besides that I have no regrets, it's been an okay sale, I got a few reasonable games for a low price. But I can't say I've picked up anything mayorly awesome either.

Sounds an awful lot like overheating. Is your desktop really noisy prior/during the freeze?

Huh. While I'll readily admit that the gameplay and UI are rough around the edges, this is the first I've ever heard of it randomly crashing all the time.

Thanks, I was editing the ini files manually but this made it easier.

After hour or so of tweaking and testing settings I got it running nicely on my aging C2D / ATI4850 rig. Only thing I needed to turn off is dynamic shadows - that option absolutely destroys my fps. Everything else is on or maxed. Game looks nice without dynamic shadows so its not a huge problem. Fov and mouse smoothing fix plus v-sync on top and game runs just the way I like.

Your 4850 shouldn't really have any problems with Borderlands, that's weird.

In fact using a mouse made a lot of the mini games (i.e. classes) stupid easy.

It's not a problem of overheating, kind sir, it's a problem with Borderlands engine (probably a matter about particles effetcs and or memory leaks).

Googling it I've found many gamers debating how to solve freeze / crash problems, with drastic solutions like reverting to XP 32bit OS.

You can check ie the General Protection Fault topic on Gearbox forum here: http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=89763

The best solution I found is using 257.21 ForceWare (8.17.12.5721 - 07/06/2010), XP SP2 Compatibility mode, no nHancer. But as soon as a big explosion is displayed the game freezes. :/

The Void. After hearing so many recommendation and seeing the artsy quality in some videos and screens, I bit, but after playing for several agonizing hours just to get out of the first area, it has mostly been dull and slow gameplay with softcore porn.

Flotilla actually put me to sleep.

Agreed, only thing I regret buying so far. Incredibly boring, not because there was nothing to shoot, but because it felt so dull.

Cryostasis is much more interesting of a world to explore.

It's not all the time but 22 times in 4.2 hours. Jokes apart, it froze again.

The lol-part is it froze once my character said "boom!" after a critical hit to a spitting beast.
It's a pity, I'm enjoyng this game (I love the setting)...

Trying again (wiping/reinstalling drivers etc).

Ghostbusters. It won't get past the first loading screen without crashing to desktop. I meet the specs, but reading into it it sounds like I'm not the only one. I'm not outwardly upset or anything, I just wanted to actually play it.

You might as well wait 2 hours, it's not likely that they will take that pack down now.

Is there a complete list of what games are on sale for what price etc somewhere? The page on Steam itself is kinda broken for me with the same games coming up multiple times in the same category and so on. Only being able to see 10 games at a time is a bit weird as well.

That sounds more like a problem with your system or config dude.

I played it way back when it first came out with like a dual core and a 9500gt with no problems.

When it freezes, how do you get out of the game? Do you have to shut your whole computer off or what?

Had the same problems, they refused to fix it. I pestered Steam. They refused to give me a refund. They said they contracted Atari and promised they were working on a patch. It never materialised. I posted warnings at length in the Ghostbusters thread.

Hoping for a new batch but it will probably be some from earlier this week.

Get DMC4. It was underwhelming for a DMC game, but the combat system is still incredible, the port is fantastic and looks great, and Turbo mode is the best way to play the game (exclusive to PC).

The last day of the holiday sale was an Encore, the "best" offers from the previous days.
I hope for a new batch though
