Kinda sucks that I was so close to adding the villager to my list but thought Sakurai wouldn't add him because of that old interview.

Goes to show that the interviews aren't the end-all be-all, I guess. I was close to an AC character too but I probably would've picked Nook.

I was going say its all over if he/she guessed villager, but looking at his/her list I feel less scared. It makes me wonder though who will win. Those who play conservative or those who atleast put down some wildcards. I wonder if a person who put down something close to Brawl's roster (I still don't think there is much of a chance of Wolf getting in) will win because they would barely have any, if at all negative points for missed characters.

Yeah, problem is that if leaked information is correct then he would get 3 points from Mii, Little Mac and Pac-Man. :p

I looked at Retro Studio's New game as NEW IP.

For Emblematic Pokemon, it wouldn't count Mewtwo, but it will count Newtwo.

Once agian, I looked at his statement as new IP which is impossible at the point.

Hmmm. I'm sure that it's same situation with Pokemon Trainer. Some people put Pokemon Trainer without mentioning Charizard, Ivysaur and Squirtle.

Edited: After I'm done with statistic and leaderboard, I will re-read my rules and check all lists again. I fear that it might be my fault that situation with Mewtwo and Pokemon Trainer is just a complete mess.

I have Pac-man and Mii too and if anything Villager makes Mii inclusion less likely. The Villager actually has Wii Sports moves like a bowling ball, boxing gloves and balloon helmet (though that one could be from the original game). It makes me if there was a Mii character being worked on but it was dropped and his moves absorbed by the villager (another chibi, avatar character).

I really love the idea of Little Mac but I couldn't see a unique moveset for a game like Smash. Reminds me of the boxer Steve Fox from Tekken who only has two punch buttons while the two kick buttons just cause him to weave right or left.

Well, why with wii sport when you could borrow from wii music, wii play, mii plaza games, wii sport resort, nintendi land, etc.

Well sakurai could ask tekken for advices on how to make boxer work for smash since they had experiences with boxers.

Going off Sakurai's interviews for Brawl though probably caused a lot of people including myself to hold off putting in an AC rep and if it turns out true Mii as well. Just reaffirms how unpredictable Smash can get entry to entry.

I think we knew the starting roster by December when Olimar and Sheik were revealed? The entire roster was arguably known a month or two later when it got guessed/leaked, but that was incredibly close to launch.

If a similar schedule to things happens with these games, I don't think we'll know the starting roster until at least E3 next year, if not closer to launch (I see this coming out late 2014 as Nintendo's big holiday game).

May 22 2007: Dojo started

E3 2007: Donkey Kong were shown in gameplay video

Jan 16, 2008: They shown last starting character which is Sheik on Dojo.

I'm still kicking myself over not putting Mii or an Animal Crossing character on my list. (I wanted an AC character but gave up given Sakurai didn't add one in Brawl)

Who could have predicted Wii Fit Trainer though?

Edit: Oh and putting King K. Rool over Dixie Kong, think I'm going to be wrong on that one.

Haha, I'm pretty happy to lead for now, I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna win. I should have taken out more Brawl characters.

But get ready to see my Dixie & Kiddie Kong "Ice Climbers style" duo prediction becoming true.

Could happen if Kiddy is the final playable character in DKC:TF.

Combined, we have an amazing low success rate at predicting the Newcomers. It is pretty hilarious. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if there are going to be even more newcomers that none of us saw coming.

I think it's because a lot of us decided to ignore the casual Wii era Nintendo while Sakurai hasn't, hence nobody getting Wii Fit Trainer and the likely Mii. Animal Crossing Villager was entirely misdirection, had we been predicting Brawl's roster we probably would have had a higher success rate for him.

That's what I'm thinking.

Also, IntelliHeath, I made a mistake in my list. In "Stages", I've written "Bridge" (Pokemon X/Y). That doesn't make any sense, I was talking about the bridges from Pokemon Black & White of course. I could see a "Bridge of Ordin style" stage on one of B/W bridge with flying pokemons passing by and attacking.
