Do you think they have a 3DS successor?
I certainly now think they do. And I don't think it will be 100% cart-for-cart compatible with the Switch, even if it will use Tegra architecture.

Give me Monster Hunter or give me death.
Do you think they have a 3DS successor?
If they do than any interest I have in the switch is GONE.
I think they can't replace the 3ds with the switch. The products are too different in everything. It's way too pricey.
And they keep insisting this is not a portable. Wich is crazy when you think about it.
Cause i'm telling you. If they say tomorrow, there is a new portable coming after that. Switch preorders are cancelled everywhere. People are motivating themselves cause they think this will have all the portable games.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U was the best experience I've ever had with the series.
I don't believe in the Stars rumor after last night so yeah I'm gonna wait this out.
They're gonna do that eventually. I do think they could've shown a bit more but they have to save stuff for directs and E3.
The real problem is that they absolutely needed more games for launch.
I know this seems like a "well, duh" comment, but sit and think about that for a second.
I'm talking about games like:
Fire Emblem
Mario and Luigi
Pokemon and its Mystery Dungeon spinoffs
Golden Sun (one can dream)
And so on. The past few generations have had a clear handheld/console split where the handheld titles suffer from their inferior hardware, but with the Switch, this is obviously no longer the case. I'm pretty sure the Switch is meant to play both markets at once and not support the 3DS at the same time, but correct me if I'm wrong.
If so, this is awesome. Pokemon is getting its third version on the Switch, so we already know that's coming. Fire Emblem might have the chance to increase its scope and scale once again, like it did during the Tellius games on GCN/Wii. Mario and Luigi might finally feel like the proper console sequel to Super Mario RPG.
Then there's the fact that major games like Luigi's Mansion or Animal Crossing, or spinoffs like 3D Land, will no longer be held back by handheld hardware. We won't get anymore Hyrule Warriors: Legends cases where the best version of the game is the graphically inferior one. And there won't be a split between Virtual Consoles anymore!
Do you see handheld franchises coming back in bigger and better ways? How do you think they could take advantage of their new console-level power? I think out of all the things the Switch represents, the cannibalization of handheld games is the most exciting. Can you imagine a console level Advance Wars game?
The lesser selling one's don't have to look decent, and hd and modern development tools will make them look nice regardless at the bare minimum nowadays but still being sold on the switch won't hurt them too mucbSome of those big ones will probably get upgraded, which is great.
However, some lesser selling ones will probably die off as they can't justify the higher development costs too look decent on the big screen.

Yeah, think more like $60 for those (more outside US).I'd be totally fine with a Fire Emblem game whose presentation is almost exactly the same as Fates or Awakening, but at 1080/720p. I think (well, I hope), we get a lot of those, priced at $40 for those "traditionally handheld" games.
For example, there's Youtube videos of 1080p Pokemon Sun/Moon, and outside of the textures it looks... really good! Not going to blow anyone away, but I would totally go for pretty much exactly that at a $40 price point.
Give me Monster Hunter or give me death.
Monster Hunter not getting announced is a huge warning sign.
Couldn't Nintendo even secure that franchise from Capcom?
Switch is reaching scam territory, it's absolutely not future proof.
There's no guaranty Nintendo portable franchises will go to the system.
New entries of the best selling portable series should at least have been announced.
Why isn't it the case?
Is Nintendo planning a real 3DS successor besides Switch?
It's fishy.
Or The Pokémon Company is doing what they did in the past & is saving the reveal of Stars for its own separate Direct.Announcing pokemon would've killed it, but the fact they didn't has me doubting it's real as well.

Tell that to TPC, they usually want to keep the spotlight to themselves as far as mainline Pokémon games go. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that X/Y were also revealed in a separate Direct in the Spring.Well that's stupid because people needed convincing and Switch is absolutely not future-proof right now.
I'm imagining Lady Layton may very well get a Switch port.

YesDidn't the PSP have video out too?

I might be wrong but I don't think the 3DS is the end of the line for handheld only devices. I know they now have Switch and some mobile games but I would bet real money by mid 2018 we will be hearing about a successor to the 3DS. Maybe I will be wrong if this thing sells real well and people accept it as a handheld device but I have serious doubts about that. The fact also being that they have gone out of their way to not say that this is their new handheld device replacement for the 3DS speaks volumes to me. Also being Nintendo and seeing how they seem to be totally oblivious to criticism I think not having every team working on Switch games would probably be the icing on the cake that already has an over priced hybrid, over priced controllers, an all time weak launch lineup, an under powered console when in dock mode, not putting that 1,2 Switch as a pack in game etc. That would fit in with the rest of their decisions that they have made including making their first mobile Mario game a runner.
There's no way that the Switch is going to be considered Nintendo's new handheld. We'll get a follow up to the 3DS next year at a price point that people can accept.
Why do you think Switch uses carts?
Think harder. Why would Nintendo make a hybrid?
Because they cant support two platforms at this point with their size
Yeah, I think that's possible. Maybe even likely.Yea, I think it's far more likely that we see a revised Switch that is smaller and handheld, but plays the same software.
Did everyone forget that they merged their console and handheld divisions in 2013?
