Is this going to have a physical release?
After hearing the endless good word of mouth right here on Gaf, I decided to give it a purchase.
I'm about four hours in and I'm pretty bored. The story isn't very interesting and none of the game mechanics so far are very challenging. I still die, but not because I'm not good, but because it doesn't matter, I have no lives and I get to start right where I died. The game is basically an experience, so you either like the aesthetic or you don't. Its a pretty game, but there's about all there is to it. It's the same deal with Little Big Planet, its pretty and there's no real platforming to speak of.
I don't even know if I should continue playing it so I can write a review for it on my blog. For a game like this, its not really a fair review if I don't finish it.
Maybe I've just grown out of platforming in general.

Of course. Why wouldn't it.

How do you know? Source?
I loved the Vita version but I'm only getting this if there's a physical release. Resident Evil HD Remaster was digital only on PS4 so I passed on that, and that game has a much larger fanbase.
BEFORE said:In collaboration with the Mm Art, Design & Tech teams, Tarsier is helping expand this remarkable papery world to a whole new audience on PlayStation 4.
Both studios are working very closely together, jamming, chatting and crafting on a daily basis, to make Tearaway Unfolded a fresh and surprising experience, whilst retaining the magic that made the Vita version so extra-special.

I'll probably rebuy it, not for $60 though. Once it drops to $30-40 I'll pick it up.
Considering how poorly tearaway vita sold I could see this being a digital release.
Not sure how I feel about this. This is the type of game you release in the Fall and flood the casual TV channels with marketing for the casual holiday push.
Source? I know they're offering some assistance but the original announcement was pretty clear that this was being done in house.Tarsier Studios is doing this port. An MM producer and sound team are assisting.
Loved Tearaway on Vita, I'm sure I'll get this at some point. A wonderful uplifting adventure game. Beautiful looking and sounding.
You think so? I feel like it's a solid B-tier game. Expecting this game to rack up a ton of sales or win lots of mindshare is a mistake, IMO. I love it, but it's a niche game that's just filling a family-friendly slot in Sony's lineup. It deserves more exposure but would easily get lost in the fall. Summer's perfect.
And we all know Sony won't promote it no matter when it comes out.
More in the charm and collecting things way than being a challenging platformer. But who knows, maybe they'll add more of that into Unfolded.Great game, will buy again. Anyone who is a fan of PS1/N64 era platformers should pick it up.

B-tier? This type of game on a Nintendo platform is AAA tier. It's also on PS4.
I was thinking an October or late September release. Summer as in July/June is a no-no.

Edit: I see the above post, but it seems pretty obvious that this is more MM's project than Tarsier's.
This game looks so amazing I almost bought a Vita for it.
Guess I dodged a bit of a bullet there getting the definitive version on PS4!
Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts. I saw a photo on Twitter of their setup at PAX and was hoping someone would post impressions.played this at pax today. it's just as awesome with a DS4. they have this cool thing where you can pick up objects and throw them at the screen by tilting to DS4 up. then you can throw the object back from the screen to a target by aiming and swiping up on the DS4 touchpad. it's pretty cool. having played through vita version. i was impressed with what they've done here.
also, i talked to the guy from media molecule who said 2 interesting things
- they don't know exactly how to solve the lack of camera issue with ps4. he said they are playing around with the idea of player making an avater that appears in the sun. but they aren't 100% sure how this will really work yet for those that don't have a camera
- MM is working on a ps4 game, but he wouldn't say anymore about it other than that it's "amazing"

Can you explain this? Having not played the original, I don't understand why you'd need a camera, or what you would be missing without one?
Maybe they should create a phone app.
