on the drm stuff.
from thinking over night- i posted about it but gaf moves so fast it got lost in the shuffle
microsoft SEEMS to be treating a console game EXACTLY how they treat Software for Computers.
however did not a law DEFINE what a console game is to allow rental and resale vs computer software?
to me the Xbox One is NOT a Games Console.
It is a Dedicated Media Computer that can Play Games .
I build a media computer, toss in a hard drive, toss in a Bluray player, get a decent case,
get one of the Good media player backbones running (xmpc or whatever) and then to play pc games i have to install the game, activate a key, i cannot resell the game, i cannot rent the game, i cannot loan out the game, etc. all this is what the Xbox One -supposedly- does now.
all microsoft did was make a specific SPEC and are marketing it as a games console.
i HOPE sony - first 5 minutes of the conference.
1) shows the console
2) says, you want to loan the game to a friend, you can, no mandatory installs, no online requirement, game rentals will work fine-exactly as they currently do. no extraneous fees required.
3) price of ~350-400.
between MS and Sony, the winner- almost by default would be Sony after that 5 minutes
and oh HEY i'm a member now wonder when that happened, yay me..
