The Final Bosman Show

The Final Bosman has the deepest lore.

Yeah those stories really resonated with me. His PS2 launch story reminded me of when I got the Wii at launch, I was about the same age and had a similar experience where I saved up money, worked stuff out with my parents, waited in line with people much older than me, and felt awesome that I got a console at launch that none of my friends could even find in stores for months.

i did a similar stunt for my brother one christmas, gave him a bluray movie, Casino Royale, first and told him i had an extra copy that i just thought he should have. Only after that revealed the bigger package with a PS3.

He was smarter though and already guessed what was coming next as soon as he saw the movie :D

Kyle is such a wonderful storyteller, I don't think he even realises this himself. His tone is very relaxing and he describes things with just enough detail to set the scene but not so much it overwhelms you. People in my house who don't even play games like listening to him talk. It's the reason I love the "Storytime Kyle" episodes so much.

Also, the Lore, my god, such Lore!

That was an amazing episode! Everything was gold; his childhood Playstation stories, the whole restaurant plot/meta commentary and the bonus segment.

Bravo Bosman, this is the perfect time to demand a raise from GT/DEFY Meida lol

I love Kyle, his stories were great and made me swoon with nostalgia a bit. I skived school to work in a restaurant to pay for my PS2. I went through the honestly awful pre ordering process and Sony managed to send my console to a Game store at the other end of the country.

The PS2 story reminds me of mine. Me and my best friend waited at Walmart and they gave us a ticket at the layaway area. I was ticket 12 (they had 24). We grabbed some Mcdonalds that was inside Walmart and then we heard on the intercom, "If you grab a ticket, that will not work. We are not doing tickets. If you want a PS2 you have to wait in line." Me and my buddy ran like our life depended on it. We saw a bunch of cats running to. I ended being 6. They gave out free cookies and waters too! I remember seeing all the PS2 launch games on the table. Good times.

Grabbed it and then Mom put it on layaway for Xmas. My buddy got his that day. But even when Xmas rolled around you still couldn't find a PS2 anywhere. Oh Smuggler's Run. :)

oh shit it was the same for me. i had the nes and skipped the snes because "you already have that". damn mom

I didn't get a SNES because I didn't know it existed. I got a NES that my Dad grew up with, and the first console I got was a N64, wasn't until my teenage years where I went back and played the SNES classics. Good times.

Although my N64 came with Majora's Mask and about a year later I wanted Ocarina of Time as well (my schoolmates hyped it up all the time) but my mom was like "you already have a zelda game" so I can relate >_<

Huh! I don't know anyone who played MM before OoT. Did you ever get to play OoT? Which do you think is better?

Yeah once I got old enough to buy games myself. Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker ended up being my favorite Zelda games, but Ocarina of Time ended up in my Top 5.

I also played The Wind Waker before Ocarina of Time as well, so that was awkward. It did give Ocarina of Time this magical quality. When I played The Wind Waker, the underwater segment was the FIRST time I was in Hyrule and I wanted to explore so badly, and I remember tearing up when Hyrule was destroyed at the end. Then I got Ocarina of Time and FINALLY got to explore.

Yeah having Link's Awakening, Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker being my childhood Zelda games probably messed me up for life :p

Haha, yeah, that's pretty unique I think :).

I didn't really like this episode. The actual topic was really interesting, and then he cut it short for a bit which I don't think I 'got'.

This episode is so clever.

First time bonus part it's not actually the bonus part but part of the episode? Love how they aren't afraid of changing the format and trying new things.

He's done the spoiler before.

My favourite way a game got me to care about what was happening was xcom, because I cared about the characters because of gameplay reasons (i hope he doesnt die, i need my sniper etc) rather than though story/cutscenes. It used something unique to the medium to achieve it.

I love that the episode is half about how and why we care about games and then the other half quickly makes us care about a made up game we have never seen before

Isn't it weird how we all started playing Numbers with Friends instead of the official Scrumbers app because it seemed less crappy and corporate, but now it's just another ad infested piece of Zynga junk?
