I'm not feeling any more macho or motivated, all I am is far crankier. :l

How many days? Try to make an estimate guess of how many times have you fapped through your life. Compare that to a week and it should be less of a chore.
Seriously. It's not overnight. Month one is ridiculously difficult as you try to resist both your brain and your dick screaming at you to do have a wank. This'll naturally make you irritable and not fun to be around. For the bulk of month two you'll probably experience a real low point where your sex drive crashes, dead. It certainly helps you get through the process, but it's also demoralising. For me, it was only in the third month that the "oh shit I'm a 14 year old again" sex drive came back, along with the increase in swag.

I mean if one of the most important points of this is to motivate you to approach women in the meatspace, it's kind of doing the opposite by my getting cranky and scowling at any person (man or woman), lol.

I should also mention I have extreme dating woes, so being irritable and essentially starved of "stress relief" (since getting laid is my Mt. Everest) is kind of a case of the tail wagging the dog.

It happens. By the time you've reached 90 days, I'm sure you'll stop being a scowly scowler.

That's a mindset you'll need to be rid of if you want success.

Like, during this process just try to improve your life. Go to the gym and start weight lifting. It helps with the sexual cravings. Take up a new hobby/join a club and meet people.

As for motivation, I've found that reassuring yourself that you're doing this for you and to improve your life is really helpful. Like, you are conscious that you want to get better, want to live better and are on the right track, even if it doesn't drastically feel like that (hyper motivated macho). Knowing why you're doing this provides you with certain confidence and hope to endure. It's about loving ourselves and being able to commit when it's needed, otherwise we're just fucking wankers. It's hard, lord knows, but I personally don't find it harder than quit smoking, my ultimate bitch. Stay strong and stay the f out of nsfw stuff if you want this to work.

I tried this a while back. I think I made it a month or so before saying fuck it. I guess I'll try again. I need to hit the gym as well so I can get things back on track.

Last time I did this I didn't really have trouble when I got past the second week. Never really thought about it at all.

There may be something in here. Read through the topic, figured that sometimes I was like that dude in the comic who is annoyed at the shit he has to put up with as he's jerking it. Sometimes it felt alright, sometimes like a chore.

Made a decision. Three days, haven't done anything. I feel... nothing. I watched some porn. Nothing. My boners just pass and go, don't last long.

Guys, I think I killed my sex drive :(

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

So if I don't want to go hardcore "no fap for 90 days" rout, and instead take a sissy "don't fap if you aren't with your girlfriend" route, do I also have to stop watching porn, etc.?

Trying it for the novelty of it, Day 3 now, GF comes on Thursday, so there is never more than a week apart. Kinda dubious such short time will help in anything.

The benefits of not watching porn are different from the benefits of not fapping - having sex, especially with a stable partner, is beneficial to your psyche - your goal shouldn't be to turn yourself into a pussy hungry werewolf, but to increase the quality of your life and increase your productivity by avoiding internet porn, specifically.

If I wasn't masturbating, I'd probably end up cheating on my long-term girlfriend the next time some drunk girl puts her hand on my thigh at a bar. I can't stand the nearly permanent arousal that comes from going 4-5 days without spanking it.

The key for me was giving up porn itself. I haven't looked at Internet porn in maybe 2 months, and I've done more graphic design projects in the last few weeks than I had in the last few years before it. The psychological benefits are great, but I still jerk off if I won't be getting laid for a few days. I just do it without watching porn.

what if you only look at static images of porn, or dont watch porn at all and masturbate to like normal tv or something

Damn, that is going to be hard. I have like 2TB of finest quality Asian material. You telling me to give it all up? :-(((

like i can very easily masturbate from memory of my own sexual experiences, do i have to stop that
There is little practical difference between the two. Both are using your visual sense to create arousal. 'Porn fantasy' is a good way to describe it.

And really, I stress that porn or fantasy isn't bad at all. Its if you've over-indulged and given yourself a problem.

90 days without porn/fapping? I'm in. I've been doing it a ridiculous amount lately. I've been trying to cut back, but the most I last is like 2 days. So I reckon I'll come in here and cry as I try to resist the urge.

In your sleep? Nothing. As the process goes on you will have a lot of sexy dreams and the fiercest morning wood you've had for years.

For the rest of the day, you've got to just be mentally disciplined and think about other things. There's not easy, zen-like solution to that. It is without a doubt the hardest part of the process.

If you're a HEAVY porn user, you will notice effects after 2 weeks. You will be beaming with energy.

You will also feel depressed before and after that though.

Oh and you will also encounter "dead dick". Your penis will be shrivled into nothingness and you will literally think its broken. Its not. It will come back stronger.

Porn is a hell of a drug.

Sounds like a wild ride. o_O

That's an extremely common phenomenon in men on their (mandatory) military service. Porn being inaccessible could be one of the contributing factors.

I've tried this many times, the longest I've made it was 20 days, no jerking and no porn. I really did feel great though after the 2nd week or so. I find it harder to stop edging over everything. I kind of cheat myself and tell myself that "if I edge, it's not really fapping since I don't finish" when really you're probably doing more damage to yourself by reaching a constant climax and coming back down.

I haven't "watched" porn since April 1 (I always like to start these things on the 1st day of a month so it's easier to keep track of progress), but if you want to get technical, I just load up Google images and search for my favourite porn stars and look at the pics.

It's really easy for you to cheat yourself on this whole thing, there are so many shortcuts you can take, and your stupid fucking brain will tell you things like this are okay because you just want to get a quick fap in. Don't do it!

Yeah, seriously, no riding the 'edge'. Still bad.

Though that does remind me how at around day 60 or so, your average, vanilla Playboy cover spread was suddenly really fucking arousing for the first time since I was 14.

If you're trying to not fap for 90 days, it really helps.

Feels utterly demoralising, though. It does actually get smaller. But, bonus round: once life returns, it returns bigger than before. True story.

I was doing fine but there was this girl in my class that was hot as fucking hell and instead of having sex with her I went home and jacked one off. =[

Porn is a hell of a drug.

Pretty much my experience the last 2 times I went 2 weeks without porn. Didn't even last 5 minutes, it was kind of hilarious.

If I don't masturbate for over a week, I get random boners constantly, like if I were 14.

I woke up with morning wood today, and I was in a dream where people would be telling to just wank off. I thought I broke, but felt this huge relief knowing it was just that- a dream.

I was doing fine but there was this girl in my class that was hot as fucking hell and instead of having sex with her I went home and jacked one off. =[

That willpower man.
I'm assuming it was to a girl who looked similar?

It has been 56 days for me. I never thought that I had any addictions but this has been a good exercise for me. I wanted to encourage everyone who is trying to drop porn cold turkey that it can be done and many times self denial is much better than giving in. Develop some will power and it will do wonders for your confidence. Stay strong people.

I think we should have a topic where we try this.

The difference being that instead of calling it the stop masturbating challenge, we could call it Abstaining From Yourself. Hopefully that follows any decency requirement required by the board.

Also it wouldn't be a contest since we are trying to encourage each other. If someone "fails" part of the way through, they should feel encouraged to try again. Compliments when a person reaches a milestone such 5 weeks. Wet dreams and sex are allowed.

I realize we really can't do a control and experiment group study with this, but if it makes people feel better, it is worth it.

This experiment is in direct opposition to my culture's need for me to be docile and easily manipulated. Therefore, I reject it and its common sense. My culture tells me to do things in absolute excess until its unhealthy and then keep going from there. Food. Technology. Communication. Consumerism. Sex. All perfectly fine things, so why not pig out on it all? What could possibly go wrong? It's freedom!

Sarcasm aside, I'm in. (The "in" is referring to the experiment, not...yeah know)

Because moderation doesn't exist, yes? With masturbation also, logically, comes an excess of food, the unrestrained use of technology, communication, and rampant consumerism.

One second; let me get my book of hyperbole out, and lace everything I say with what I find inside.

That's encouraging, I'm looking to cut myself off porn and just fapping without it, glad to see it worked with someone.

Any other tips?

I've been lurking the site (neogaf) for the last few months. I decided to post in this thread because I've been trying to experiment with this 90 challenge but can't seem to get past day 3.

I think I can do the challenge now. Now that I see it's wide spread and everyone on these boards seems to know about the plasticity of the human brain on how it changes and isn't directly hard wired.

I found out by revisiting Gary Wilson personal website and Marnia Robinson personal website also (I am member on both sites). They have a lot of information in regards to what highly sexual stimuli like porn does to the human brain. It's not your penis that's the problem (erectile dysfunction). It's your brain that is being desensitized by the highly sexualized content that is available to us.

I'm ready. Even though today I fap. I'm up and ready for tomorrow. Withdrawal is going to be b*tch once I get past day 3 or 4.
