The King of Fighters XIV |OT| ¡VIVA REY DE DINOSAURIOS!

Wow, EX Benimaru Collider does some hardcore scaling now. cl.D, Max mode, cl.D, Ex Collider, jacknife, ex Raijinken, qcb+ HP, into Iageri did around 340-ish. Just going directly into EX Raijinken instead of EX Collider, made me do around 400. Normal collider does 100 damage now, and the meter gain seemed to be 1/8th of a bar or so (though I'm bad at estimating this). Well I guess it is easier to input EX Raijinkens than EX Colliders, so I guess Beni's can rest their hands.

Leona does high 300s or so for her 1 bar bnb into slash saber. Before I think she went over 400 for 1 meter. so she still does great damage, just before it was a little too high. I think she is still great. I am sad that light X-Calibur does not combo off j.A or neutral jump D, so if you are doing instant overheads, you basically have to do V-Slasher or nothing. Light X-Calibur is pretty useless now, since the heavy one used in combos. I don't know how big her hurtbox changes are now, would need to play some matches to feel it out, but I have family over this weekend, so I probably can't until next week.

Also Rock is pretty cool. I think he will be my point character.

Yamazaki, Whip, Rock and others combo vid.

I have cash for only 1 character right now. Dunno who to pick. Yamazaki may be too hard to use.

Besides Rock, I'd say he's the easiest to be effective with of the DLC crew. HIs normals are bulky and commanding, his specials are more straight-forward than you'd think, his new LK command normal is a wonder that works incredibly well off strong strikes at a variety of ranges, he has meterless answers for physical pressure, projectile pressure, as well as multiple overheads, meter and meterless command grapples, poison, and he has a few OTG tricks and stuff on the side.

The only real thing I think is odd about him is that he has a harder time gattling varied lights than in even some previous games.

Compare that to someone like Vanessa, who seems to have slow jump normals, and depend on out-speeding or mixing up her opponents more than easy damage situations. Her normals are kinda nice, but very specific, and the finger-gymnastics to keep her moving and weaving are uniquely her own.

And then there's Whip, who has massively punishable recovery for using the wrong attacks at the wrong time (Feels worse than her 2D versions to me), and who'se confirms are a bit backwards to others (Such as being best at cl.b,cl.B,cr.B xx Special for a confirm, rather than opening out with easily spammable crouch B2 / As, her Cr.D being her AA rather than C, and her cr.C being her Sweep rather than combo fodder). She's quite a specialist character with awkward methods of approach that strongly depend on reading your opponent, and landing pain off their dropped attempts at defense.

---

I have to say, getting used to the new to game characters is quite a thing, while still re-learning the methods to play the old, now that they've been shifted so much.

Some fun stuff I recorded because why not:

Whip Super Cancel out of SS: Code VICTORY
She Still has her old OTG, too!

Ryo Use of EX Z.R.K anywhere Juggle via my brother

Yamazaki has OTG tricks? I'll have to see if I can hunt down some tech, because 30 minutes isn't enough for me to figure out anything except for basic B&Bs.

EX Bad Sand Spray can OTG off a sweep or hark knockdown, the first part will whiff, but the STOMPING will make the rest connect.

Opponents can also be smacked on the ground with the low snake arm strike. ( Example: https://twitter.com/EXWildWolf/status/849827448233512960 )

That Whip super cancel is cool, but the challenge will be actually landing that stomping move. Maybe it's easier than I think.

Also, those Yamazaki OTGs are neat, I suppose. Finishing a match with the OTG Sand Spray would be cool.

Seems like there's a bug with Clark's elbow cancel to his neomax(hcbx2 2k) if you are in HD mode and have 2 bars, you can't super cancel elbow. But if you have 3 or more meter while in HD it works.

Lyte Edge

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
Wish I could say my experience was the same today because it really wasn't =/

I only had one really bad quality match last night. The other player was on a mic and was talking to someone else about how bad it was, lol.

Fersis

It is illegal to Tag Fish in Tag Fishing Sanctuaries by law 38.36 of the GAF Wildlife Act
Man, Rock looks friggin' amazing, you can see they put some extra love in him :3

For 5 bars Yamazaki has kill combos against 900 health characters.

Looks like they buffed Muimui's EX rolling head move. She can now combo after it both when used against a standing opponent (in which case it becomes a launcher) and when used to juggle.

Sylvie's damage boost via new EX QCB+P is pretty sweet. On anchor she can now do 600 damage for 2 bars anywhere on the screen and 650 in the corner. These combos cost 3 bars when she is on point or second but still great damage for that bar. It feels like it is easier to quick max with her now.

The timing is tight but Yamazaki can OTG with his low arm flick even after a sweep. The sweep isn't a hard knockdown but they will still get hit if you time it right despite being able to tech roll.

Whip's reflect fireball doesn't count as a fireball it seems, it goes right through Athena's reflector. She can also have more than one of these up at a time. Really seems like a bad idea to play a fireball game against her.

Yeah this has been their balancing philosophy since the last patch, they remove things that are silly from the high tiers (while still keeping them strong and viable, ala K' and Nak) and then mostly focus on buffing the rest of the cast.

Damn, didn't think to try Bandeiras OTG super on his regular throw. This buff keeps on giving.

Can he add anything after the EX ZRK mid-screen?

Okay, either SNK's sense of humor is meaner than I thought or that April fools game they teased with Mian, Muimui, Zarina etc. is turning into a real game.

They have set up a website for it.

... and started doing comics.

Doesn't work. Tested it with a friend, back throw is not a hard knockdown, it shouldn't be in the video TBH.

Ah okay, thanks for the confirmation.

It can work off an Izuna drop though if you land in the corner with the opponent close by.

Yamazaki feels so satisfying to play because like, all of his best combos start the same way.

I am struggling a bit more with the neutral compared to CvS2 though, mostly because Sand Spray's input feels awkward and has much less range than before. Anyone have advice for laying on the pressure and tagging confirms with him?

Snake arm cancels are + most of the time

Just whip it, whip it good.

I tried online for like 10 hours today and only got few fights, heh. I must quit trying before I go crazy.

Not sure if you know but they introduced a region filter a while back and a lot of players are using it unfortunately when setting up rooms.

If I try to play from my main (Canadian) account then I pretty much never get any matches. So I set up a US and a JP account and between the two of them I easily find people to play pretty much any time of day and night. For example yesterday I was playing after work with the US account and the match searches resulted in a wall of rooms each time. If I tried the same with my Canadian account I'd most likely get zero.

So Andy is the Goat.

Think people are going to scream for nerfs with this thing?

It looks like more abusable than the Bird bypassing everything, no ?

I feel like we never actually played against each other no ? I don't remember lol.

Nope, not even close, the bird actually hit them immediately, this just gives you a projectile wall

Yeah, that's mostly what I've been doing since Yamazaki's normals seem really bad on block if not cancelled. Spacing is extra important too since both his far C & far D are awful on block and can't be cancelled, so you've gotta be either far away stuffing approaches with Serpent Strike or in their face challenging their buttons with blockstring/command grab mixups.

My favourite thing to do is land a Pit Viper and then stand back chipping away at them with snake arms as they slowly succumb to poison. Idk what it is about poison that makes people play so recklessly, but it's a joy to behold.

I use "all". I see some rooms. Can't get into them. In ranked I get one guy sometimes.

They should've quick player match like most fighters have.

The problem is if they set up their room to "same region" you won't see them, even if you're near geographically. That was a huge mistake in my opinion, because it makes it feel the game is dead online when a an effective connexion filter (which doesn't even work) would be much more effective.

I also want the possibility to host 1V1 lobbies.

Have to agree with Spuck-uk, the bird was also usable on its own (zoning, combos, strings, pressure) in addition to being a total dick.

Whip's only comes into play if the opponent helps her trigger it.

Not sure, I'm always playing against randoms so we may have come across each other without realizing :p

Doesn't matter if you use "all", they won't show up if they have the region filter on even if you have a good connection with them.

It's just that "Could not acquire room information" msg is killing me inside.

I'll try my US account tomorrow.

My US account is Hyunsai972 if you want to spar sometimes (US east time zone) !

For sure, looking forward to seeing your Bandeiras in action :)

I barely ever get that message now after the previous patch. What helps is closing the game and starting it again, I especially do this after waking the PS4 from rest mode and if XIV is on at the time. I make sure to close it and start it again. I used to get it a ton at launch but it happens very rarely now after that last patch (don't think I got it even once all day yesterday).

It happens to me all the time. I never use rest mode.

Watching all the streams and seeing all the tech you guys are posting here is making the wait until I can get the dlc tomorrow even harder ;_;. I can't even bring myself top play the game again until I get my hands on them lol.

If anybody is interested in playing some matches over the weekend , add me! my PSN ID is oldyella. I won't be able to play seriously until Saturday night at the earliest, though.

What's the ideal way to play Rock on each point in the stage (i.e. long, middle, and short range)?
