Exactly. It's so perfectly dumb, but not actually bad like Falling Skies or any other show of its ilk.

Man, what a terrific episode. It may very well be the best of the series yet, IMO. Imagine if Last Resort had been this good... The only things that bothered me were:
a) That coastal defense system not blowing the sub to shit with the first direct impact.
b) It doesn't look like the sub nor its captain are dead-dead. I'd rather not have another silly comeback.
I kinda disagree. Sure, it's chovinistic drivel at times, but S2 has been very enjoyable so far, while S1 was dangerously edging on "so bad it's good".
Absolutely not under those circumstances. Creating a huge explosion under the keel of a surface ship is how modern torpedoes work. The water gets pushed upwards with tremendous force, to the point that it can easily trounce a big ship or create massive damage to its hull.
Dropping depth charges right under your feet = Inbound fuckery.

S1 really verged on oh rah rah Join the Navy-isms but I think they sorta pull it back. Also this show is really just summer fare stuff so it doesn't take itself too seriously. I think that's what Last Resort's problem was, because the pilot was amazing and it didn't do anything fun afterwards, even though I got the point it wasn't supposed to be fun.Man, what a terrific episode. Also I'm sure Shawn Ramsey is dead, but I wouldn't be surprised if he came back or something. They made a point of having his sub come up from the deep sea so I assume the sub didn't sink that far down or anything.

I've really enjoyed this show. This week I even prioritised it over Fear The Walking Dead.
I think they're dead. Was going to say the captains death scene was bad, with him screaming. If they bring him back I will stop watching the show. No way he gets out of that sub without dying.
Glad they took out the sub, i'm not sure I could take another season with them.
I think the Captain might be alive so they can kick his ass in the next episode. Alternatively, they messed up his death by not showing the sub exploding and the next episode is just downwinding and set-up for next season.
Also, almost every important character got to leave the Nathan James. Had you switched Eric Dane and Adam Baldwin, I would have guessed we'd be losing the boat. They could always find another one that looks exactly like the James.

Oh my god, sic semper tyrannis. I was hoping for something bigger scale, like a Chinese invasion of the west coast, but I'm happy with that. lol
I think they know they can't make the show scale up really big but what they have is pretty good, so that's fine with me. Finale was pretty good though.

I just watched the finale,
they really better have not just killed the doctor, she's one of my favourites, an absolutely stunning women.
She isn't, she'll be discovered in the first minute of the next season, they'll rush her to a hospital and they'll be able to save her at the end of the episode after it is touch and go for a bit. Based on years of experience with finales.

I guess the easy way to "spoil" the show is to just find out if she's contracted to be on season 3.
Yeah, although it is weird that they're basically ignoring the west coast. They don't even mention it.

He pretty much just collects a paycheque now. Despite having second billing he has almost no screen time this season. It's like the writers know he's a piece of shit but can't write him off so they just only bring him in when absolutely necessary.

His character
saved the ship and 95% of the crew from certain destruction by "being a badass" and killing the guy on the missile pod control while being shot in the shoulder. I certainly understand why people despise Adam Baldwin and agree with that but like he certainly seems to have a normal amount of screen time. The problem with this season was throwing in a half a dozen new characters without any real development arcs for them which split up the screen time in some weird ways
He doesn't even get less screentime than most main cast members (people who get paid for every episode regardless if they are in it or not). Baldwin logically gets less screentime than Chandler and Dr. Scott because they are clearly the main characters. Tex gets a lot of screentime because he is one huge source of awesome. Then look at all the other main characters. I don't buy it that Baldwin had less to do than Jeter (the master chief that messes up the call to his in-laws), Danny Green (the blonde luitenant that always gets sent out on missions to act cool), his girlfriend Kara (whose role was being pregnant and looking worried), Alisha whose mother was the crazy end boss of season 1 and Carlton Burke, the black luitenants that always gets sent out on missions to act cool. That doesn't give me the feeling Baldwin was sidelined. They just gave a lot more attention to guest actors like the president and the bad guys.
I hope so...just saw the Season Finale myself and was like WTF...

I am active duty navy and I have had a few nitpicks like...in the first episode that wasn't the correct way to deal with the situation as it was done in the way to make it look coolest (which its TV I GET IT), threatening the Russians with a tomahawk...I mean you could but you got alll those harpoons that could do the job.... but my largest one is they sent this ship out with out their enlisted intelligence guy. Cruisers and destroyers always deploy with an IDIS (independent duty intelligence specialist) now I think it would have fit and opened up a lot of storytelling possibility...but oh well. Yes I was an IDIS at one point.
Other then that I really do enjoy the popcorn fun of the show. Plus it was filmed on a friends ship in the pilot and I got to see one of my old LT working in CIC during it which was cool.

No to the first part,it has action but nothing on the Strike Back level but yes to the pretty fucking ridiculous its awesome part lol...I like this show.
Nice...love Bridget ever since she was in Legend of the Seeker(I whish that show lasted longer).
