He did a amazing job with that Pearl Harbor review,i have laughed a lot from his video's but this a new level of goodness. Production value is waay higher. He takes a lot more time for it. I liked it,when he raged so damn hard on Bay,he is right though. And it is a horrible movie.

I repeat I loved his Michael Bay backstory, especially the ending since...it's how Bay direct movies: he porns every scene. I could seriously see him saying "PORN IT" while directing a dramatic scene :lol

He kinda missed the point of Roxanne in Megamind (she's essentially part character part plot device), and turning her into a "hero" kinda screws the dynamic. Otherwise I'm glad he's seeing how DW films are actually good and different unlike this board.

The side segments got old, fast in this one. Even santachrist couldn't save it.
Once again, I thought they were fine. The middle part where Santachrist convinced the Critic to continue watching the movie was probably my least favorite part, honestly. I enjoyed the end and the beginning and the buildup of Son of the Mask as a piece of true evil.

The actual movie review itself was great. Possibly my favorite yet. I guess I've always been curious on some level about Son of the Mask and why it's so horrible. Awesome that the Critic really went into it and showed us all the fucked up imagery. Can't believe what was going through the filmmakers heads when they put this thing together.

The CGI was certainly nightmare inducing at times, and the Critic's reactions were perfect. That baby.....

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
The Lord of the Rings jokes went on way too long. Should've stopped after the fireplace.

otherwise, good review

i don't mind the skits. the actors are more charismatic than doug, which helps save some of the poor writing in those segments. plus, there's occasionally some stuff i enjoy, like 'how many times have you done this?' 'once. ...including just now!'

Satan: This can't go on! I need to call my human wife!
Girl: Hi, Kim Kardashian.

AMAZING. :lol

Yeah, the skits may go on just a tad too long in some cases but I enjoy the charm of them.

I also approve of the skits Red Letter Media uses for Half in the Bag.

You could say that I'm into that sort of thing, I guess.

Catching up on the past few weeks worth of TGWTG stuff.

I both love and hate that they used a rendition of "The Show Must Go On" by Queen for the never-needed-before intro theme song.

Of course he did. Ebert and Siskel helped pretty much invent the video review. Everyone's a critic now. I'd say a huge chunk of internet video is a review by some relatively unknown person trying to find their own niche style. A large chunk of the video I watch on a daily basis is a review of some sort. Whether it be video game, movie or TV show or food.

Regardless of one's opinion on LTS... CN really is fucked up for cancelling another cartoon yet again

The Devil's Daughter returns for Cat in the Hat

The moment with the analysts, how NC explains how often people don't know what they want, their reaction when charts are not on the screen...can someone make a video with just that frame? I feel it can be used perfectly in Gaming Topics. :lol

Gaming side isn't exactly receptive with the critic you know.

Also no Favorite Character #8?

I think TGWTG has a one post per reviewer per day policy. In October, Linkara had to put two episodes of Longbox of the Damned in a single post the day after he posted a new Atop the Fourth Wall episode to keep LotD to 1 episode for every day in October.

The part where they "hang" The Cat in the Hat and hit him in the crotch with a bat. WTF?

Messed up and horrible movie. Glad I never saw it.

Ugh...I watched it. I need to cleanse my soul. Easily up in the 10 worst movies I have ever seen.

Man, cat in the hat is stupid...

Also outside of Edward I don't recognize his faves so far :lol

Doug's an asshole sometimes.

Say it's just opinion, then add in stuff to insult anyone who disagrees with him.

That being said, I liked the list. The only criticism I would have is including Chinpokomon, Good Times With Weapons, and Make Love, Not Warcraft. Three homage episodes on the list with the same reason "It's a great send up to this medium" just seems a bit lazy.

There's really no better choice for #1 though, and the reason why.

Like the nods to parody online at the end, but it is strange that he totally ignored a few modern and well liked parody films, like Shaun of the Dead, or Hot Fuzz. I'd even still call Galaxy Quest a great example of more recent parody films.

I think he's focusing way too much on the negative... While it is very true that the "movie movie's" are really just a bad epidemic that plague Hollywood, he did miss some good spoof movies that happened in between them. For example...

This was a spoof movie of James Bond and 60's spy films and TV shows. It was funny and knew how to rip on its source material in a clever way. yeah, there were sequels, and the sequels started degrading into more vulgar territory. They were not as witty as the original, as far as I am concerned and no where near as good.

Another one:

I'm not really sure if this one really counts, but I suppose it was a spoof of 1970's era local news organizations. The plot satirized the "boys club" mentality of TV news anchors in the 70's. and I thought it was quite effective. I would rather watch this again than any Scary/ Epic/ Whatever Movie.

A more recent example:

black_dynamite.jpg

Spoof of 1970's black exploitation films, well the theme is kind of similar to Austin Powers (not sure why I keep picking 60's - 70's themed satire movies?), but this one was very effective at what it did and funny too.

Those are only really two examples I can think of off the top of my head at the moment. I don't know, maybe good spoof movies have gotten a little smarter these days, and end up going under most peoples radars. Or they get buried under a lot of the main stream garbage?

Ah, Shawn of the Dead is another good example, and so is Hot Fuzz.

Parody might be relatively close to dead, but satire sure as hell is not. Parody films almost don't work at this point because satire is so deeply embedded into every element of pop culture that parodies are satire of satire.

Scary Movie is a great example of this, actually. Scream was *already* satire. It's pointless to parody it, because not only is Scream a better horror movie but it's also a better satire.

I thought he's mostly focused on the new ones, hence he didn't mention those. Speaking of which is the last Austin Powers movie, Goldfinger, good?

Also I think Robin Hood was pretty meh. I already said it in my LTTP Mel Brooks tho :p
