The Official Daily Show Thread with Jon Stewart

Oblivion

Fetishing muscular manly men in skintight hosery
The extended interview with Cain is fucking priceless, anyone else see it?

Yup. I loved how he tried to rebut the WSJ/NBC poll on black people not voting for Romney by citing his own anectodal evidence (and admitting that it was anecdotal).

Oh, and also saying that all the black conservatives were working so they couldn't take the call from the pollster. Jon's reaction to that was wonderful.

If we have to elect a Republican to destroy the country at some point in the future, I really hope it's Hermain Cain. Because he'll at least do it in the most hilarious way possible.

I don't usually watch extended interviews, but if this is what they're like I need to start doing it more often. Someone getting on politifact in the middle of an interview to find out the truth is beautiful and should be standard practice in all interviews.

and more importantly, debates!

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Leonard Nimoy narrating the Romney biography, that was brilliant. I loved the constant pointing out that his dad paid for everything.

Holy shit!! That skit was amzing! Basically shown up the idea that running govt as a business becomes each state for himself if they're in the red.

You're not making money Wyoming, you're fucking fired!!! It's perfect!

Cut states if they're not paying back what they owe. It's exactly perfect. Daily Show is killing it!

This entire week was brilliant!

THat last skit though, where they were firing states for being in the red was awesome!!!

Then there was this tweet tonight:

TheDailyShow: Tonight! We are on the air! Normally we don't work Fridays, but then the chair thing happened. #DailyShow

One of the best things about that was how disarming it was for both of them, and then to see how they responded once politifact was brought in.

Cain is cut from the same cloth as the rest of them, but what makes him awesome is what he's willing to do for laughs and attention. The "If You Were President" segments with Jon Oliver and Cain are ridiculous and amazing.

Fuck, Caine is the best. I almost wish he was elected President.

Stewart's being quite tough on the Dems. This is surprising and welcome.

You don't watch either show, do you? They were ripping the Dems tonight. Ass kissing wouldn't be very funny.

Kosmo is that you? Pathetic comment from someone who doesn't watch the show #24545887.

What do you consider ass kissing? You do know the entire point of this show is to make fun of stupid shit that happens, right?
Oh, come on. I'm one of the first to point out that the GOP is moving into Saturday morning cartoon villainy territory, but even I can admit that Jon goes light on Democrats.

In last night's episode, his criticisms amounted to: you're not doing a good job of staying on message. Basically, while the right can be attacked for their wacky propaganda, he faults the President's camp for not using enough. It amounts to good-natured ribbing.

I recognize that the Republicans really do give more fodder for jokes and have a higher frequency of insane statements. But I can also see that TDS is definitely left leaning -- in the sense of wanting a calmer, more rational discourse. I personally have no problem with that since lately I do, too.

I did not know the Daily Show was on Tumblr. This post is amazing:

An excerpt:
On Friday’s show, we said Mitt Romney’s claim that he had wanted President Obama to succeed in his first term was — and this is a technical term — bull-f@cking-sh#t, and played a clip of him on Neil Cavuto’s show to demonstrate it. So imagine our surprise when BuzzFeed disputed our call! They say the full context of Romney’s 2009 remarks to Neil Cavuto shows Romney wishing Obama success.

With all due respect, that is — and, again, this is a technical term — bull-f@cking-sh#t.

I just saw the abortion piece by Samantha Bee.... just WOW! SOOOO much cognitive dissonance/hypocrisy.

"Romney has every right to choose"
"It's a free country"
"We shouldn't getting into personal lives"
"Personal FREEDOM"

"Except abortion"

WTF....

I just can't believe it. It had to be fake! It had to be!

You're making a case for something else. B.K. was suggesting that they'd actually be complimenting the Dems. We were just replying to that.

Good lord, massive levels of cognitive dissonance on both sides. Where Republicans claim personal freedom is good except for abortion, Democrats claim they accept everyone except for people that don't agree with them.

This is going to be a long two months.

Context. In their party? That's kinda how parties work, and the Democratic tent is pretty eclectic at this point.

LOL so true. Both segments I was just shaking my head (and laughing) thinking this can't be real. People couldn't possibly be that ignorant and/or blind, could they?

Turns out they can.

Huge difference though. Democrats appear to be intolerant of bigots and racists. Republicans appear to be intolerant of anyone that isn't a white male.

Eh, the people they interviewed seemed to try and put a label on all republicans, which is just not true. Just like all Dems aren't socialist.
