Yup. It was a threefer that did it for me. First, the list of level building blocks is huge, and you can put up TONS of each part. 20 Tube-Y intersections? I'm gonna make a maze. Good luck finding the rawkets. Mwahahaha.

Oh, just saw wooden bridge, narrow little things that will make traversing it interesting. Are these destructible? I made a Front Line Force map that had destructible wooden bridges, back in 2001. So obviously it's time for me to sue if they are indeed destructible.

Lars Bakken: The original idea behind Sandbox was to give players an open map to play around with in Forge (the social map editor in Halo 3). We gave them Foundry as part of the Legendary Map Pack last year, but that was in a dark warehouse. We thought, “what if we give them a big outdoor space to play around in?” From there it was making sure it was possible to open up the space and give players a little more freedom - freedom to build up or down, as the case may be.

I see how they worked the soft ceiling sky bubble into the map's schematics, I'm just not sure how they would work a "down" part in. It's either another teleporter or there's a way to drop below the surface of the map and they haven't shown it to us yet.

Either way, this massive use of space is really unprecedented. Dropping below Gemini to see the enormous scale all directions is the only thing which I feel can come close to what we're seeing here in terms of size. If there are three levels, than we can assume that all three of them could be integrated into play on one map. The sky bubble, the ground level and this third, underground level we're presuming exists. Mind melt from awesome overload.

Wouldn't make sense for it to be the portal. If you have to carry the default objects through the portal (which is only in forge mode much like the visible grid?) you'd need a bigger hole for the larger objects to fit through.

That's what I was wondering. It wouldn't be very practical to have only a single hole to get down. I suppose you could just use teleporters but then you lose the sense of cohesiveness.
