Zelda or Metroid
It's heavily online based Metroid Prime -title. We won't like it but it's what we'll get.
Zelda or Metroid
Ok, what if the Wii U controller had a vitality sensor built into it? Or did we totally abandon that idea?

I don't think Retro is working on Star Fox. I don't see them hiring all those talented designers and coders from past FPS franchises (Crysis and I think Killzone as well) for a new Star Fox game. I'm guessing from them something like Metroid, a FPS, or Zelda.

I have doubts on this story because I don't believe Retro ever said Its a project everyone wants us to do as the original mention of such a claim was from Paul Gale. Unless I'm mistaken.

Uncharted 3. But i thought it was artist, not coders?I don't think Retro is working on Star Fox. Just sit and watch it come true.
I am not keeping my hopes up. I don't think Retro is working on Zelda.
It is most likely Metroid.
On the other hand, whatever they are working on is probably going to be awesome
While it's common knowledge that the CPU could access the 24 MB 1t-SRAM and 64 MB GDDR3 on Wii, I don't believe many people are aware that the CPU could actually access the 2 MB embedded framebuffer as well. I know I didn't until Blu brought it to my attention.
What does this mean for Wii U? The CPU will have access to a low latency scratchpad (pegged at 32 MB, possibly more, by reliable sources) in order to offset the higher latency of DDR3/GDDR5/whatever the external main memory ends up being.
This might also explain the lack of AA in some of the demos last year, even though they were 720p and Wii U should be capable of it. Not every developer may choose to use the 32 MB eDRAM as a frame buffer.
Thanks for the input. I'll have to look more into the A2 for a point of reference.
So Retro's next game will have bosses. I love those.
Starfox would be so amazing. <3

When I return to Austin in June, I'm willing to go on a mission.. I know the area quite, quite well..
I just heard that voice:
"GOOD LU-UCK!"

They did hire the guy from darkstalkers... so it has a bigger chance of being Zelda
Don't know why people are quite so instalaugh on this. Most of the time I've mentioned Retro's mysterious project in the past, I've always added "Star Fox" in a spoiler tag, because I think it'd be a great idea for them to handle. The hiring of environmental artists fits well with the series's (pre-fuckup) 3D aesthetics, and I personally thing they need to give the series to a outfit new to it that can produce top tier quality.
Something like Zelda is already in good hands, producing titles that are consistently good (if not always groundbreaking) in the home console space. Donkey Kong Country Returns Again almost certainly isn't their title, given the hirings they've made, unless they suddenly decided to make it a gritty, first-person DKC game somehow. Metroid? They did that. Three times. There were probably more hours of Metroid designed by Retro than there were hours of Metroid designed by anyone else before that! Sometimes companies like to move on*. Their M.O. is making great (to the buyers at large) revisitations of classic titles. Their M.O. is not making Metroid games.
So Star Fox is not at all a bad match for them.
That said, the logic in the article is pretty weak. Basically they seem to be saying "Our source told us there's a Star Fox game but not who made it. We know that Retro's making something. So they must be making Star Fox."
* This statement should not in any way condone the non-continuation of the TimeSplitters series unless it's done by Retro.
If it would be outsourced to Treasure, sure. Can't say I'd be happy to see Retro working on a rail shooter instead of an action adventure game.
Yeah, Retro should be working on either a new Metroid or a new IP. But just the idea of Starfox in good graphics in 1080p makes me shiver.
Just for you...
Let Star Fox die in dignity or give it to Treasure.
Im not sure the guys would be stating its there crowning achievement in art if its Starfox.
Wasn't 64 3D done by Q Games? I'd trust them with making an original Starfox for Wii U.I think a WiiU Star Fox installment would be done by EAD, considering that they handled the 64 remake. Perhaps a full DD title priced at $30-$40. There's certainly no market for a big budget rail shooter, so that's probably the most unlikely game for Retro to be working on.

We all know it's really time for Mother 4.
Star Fox needs a reboot badly
There hasn't been a truly great Star Fox game since the N64 days, that's just not acceptable

I know some unannounced third-parties projects, but no first or second party ones.
Hey GP, you are thanked in the bannedsite for your summary post
This confirms that the little black window on the top of the Wii U pad is actually an IR emitter, not a Wiimote-style camera as many (including myself) had presumed. This pretty much guarantees that there's going to be a universal remote control app for the Wii U pad.
I CAN'T HEAR YOU! LALALA! MOTHER 4 IS GONNA HAPPEN ! LALALA !
I heard visitors get to sign an NDA, but the question is are you going to be there before e3. Will it be worth is really to leak a project thats going to be released in a day or two?
Fifth Nintendo Wii U thread with almost no new info. If this keeps up we will reach Thread ten right before E3
but instead of shoehorning space combat into an adventure game like Metroid, we should shoehorn adventure elements into StarFox
but not like SFA. I'm talking about making the Lylat System open and explorable, and Team StarFox goes on various bounty missions (chasing marks from planet to planet!), whilst uncovering the newest plot by Andross, or some new villain
and have a Classic Arcade mode where you choose paths and have maybe a 1-hour playthrough for scores

Well it was better than the GC ones (well, better than the flying sections of Dinosaur Planet, which otherwise isn;t really a Starfox game at all), and it was perhaps a bit of a stretch for the hardware. At least it managed an online mode (I think?)I wouldn't. The one they did on the DS was pretty dull.

Haha.. a few podcasts ago, they discussed the upcoming Nintendo Juicy™! They even came-up with game name ideas.. I almost fell out of my chair laughing..
They didn't say that, either.
An artist there tweeted he was working on what he considers his crowning achievement. It turned out to be a project for his brother.
