Super Switch is the obvious choice but modern consumers are dumb as hell and would likely be confused similar to the Wii U fiasco.

If they stick with the Switch name it will be Switch 2. Nintendo does weird stuff though so I could see them making a new name altogether.

I think the name that probably will have a better outcome is Switch 2. Everyone knows what that means, the successor of the previous console that plays the new games. I think last time they used a number for a successor was with the DS -> 3DS and that was wildly successful.

If the new console is iterative as it has been rumored, then calling it Switch 2 makes the most sense.

However, this is Nintendo we are talking about, so my vote goes to The Switch.

We don't know when it's coming and we don't know how much it will build on the Switch. But let's assume it does significantly though with some added features (AR is showcased heavily in Super Nintendo World and also features in Mario Kart Circuit so that may point to the direction of travel)...

Anything else but Switch 2 would be a colossal mistake from Nintendo's part, surely they've learned something from the Wii > Wii U debacle? Or a new name altogether, but to abandon the Switch brand now would seem even more foolish.

For the senior boomers among us, how was the Super NES/SNES received as a name? Did people immediately know it was a successor and not an add-on like some folks thought with the Wii > Wii U?
