I don't think there's anything at all wrong with someone thinking that Uncharted 2 looks better than Crysis - I just don't feel that there is any interesting or enlightening discussion to be had from that comparison. Comparing the visuals between games that are created for similar hardware makes far more sense, because they start off on even ground and that also allows you to throw some facts into the discussion - for example, Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2.

When you can't do that, you're essentially left with people debating the merits of art style, which is a very personal and intensely subjective thing (nobody can even agree on what "art" means) and about as interesting as telling people what you dreamt last night.

Fair enough...we obviously come from pretty different perspectives however...I personally find it interesting to learn about peoples dreams...provided its not some lurid sexual or homicidal fantasy

If someone were to ever write something intelligently dissecting the art styles and technical aspects of Crysis and Uncharted 2's visuals, I'd read it and enjoy it. But no one will likely take the effort to do such a thing, so I say we (both console and PC gamers) just sit back and be thankful that we have all of this lovely eye porn to gaze at.

Kojima should kick his programmers in the nads after checking out UC2.

not even sure when they load during cutscenes since you have an option to skip all of them. crafty indeed.

You can't skip all of them, i found a couple you cant skip while starting to replay it for all the treasures.

I finally was able to find this game and its on hold. Couple questions. I dont want to read through the thread for fear of spoilers.

1. Is it worth it if I have no plans for multiplayer?

2. Are the puzzles better this time?

Let's talk about some of the story stuff

I liked the burning village, and Elena saying "we did this", that really hit home. I felt very greedy and a little evil that my treasure hunting ways are probably the reason for this village getting torched and people with nothing but crossbows getting capped. I like games with a little morality.

But when Lozaravich asked me "how many people have you killed... today" I could only laugh. Because it was close to 1000 at that point, and that's pretty fucking ludicrous. I mean, it's a video game, whatever, but I think it's a little funny to try and mix morality with games about mass enemy murder.

Thoughts?

A handful, most of the ones that are longer than 1 minute can be skipped though.

1. Multiplayer is good but singleplayer is where uncharted really shines.

2. Not really, they are easier and not very exciting.

Are you sure you can't skip those longer cutscenes? It could be that it's loading stuff up at the start of it and won't let you skip until several seconds into it. Some games do that.

1. Totally

2. There's much more puzzling, adventuring and platformming in UC2. The puzzles are never anything complicated though, but it's neat seeing how they unfold.

Holy shit this game is everything.

got it today and played through to Chapter 7.

Chapter 6 spoiler

How awesome was it when you reach the top of the hotel, you see this gorgeous pool and can't resist jumping in, follwed by genuinely funny reaction dialogue, perfect. Then Holy shit when the chopper shows up. Insane.

This is ridiculous

Jesus lord, yes. I really have no multiplayer aspirations either
2. Are the puzzles better this time?
Not really. There are probably more this time around, but not particularly challenging. At all.

Yeah, the puzzles are unfortunately very simplistic, but at least they're far more visually interesting this time around.

Yah I would agree with this, the puzzle's arent' exactly harder or anything, but the platforming involved in them is more diverse and provide some pretty crazy visuals with some of the traversals.

Y2Kev said:
I think the puzzles are a bit harder, but the traversal is 100% as guided. Everyone keeps ignoring this in their comparison. Unlike classic tomb raider, the ledges are actually demarcated and discolored. The platforming is just as much fait accompli (thanks Chick) in Underworld as it is here.

If there's an issue with UC2's platforming for me, it is that because the environment is so realistically rendered and so detailed, it can be difficult to tell what you can climb from what you can't. But this is a good problem to have!
I guess that's another reason why the ledges that you can climb are distinctly colored. That's a good thing to me, it helped me when I was lost.

I'm sold, thanks... shame about the puzzles. I guess it would hurt the flow of the game if they were too difficult.

Gorgeous.

Lots of prettiness in this game. Some of the stuff is just beautifully rendered. My playing time is being stretched out due to the amount of times I've done nothing but simply walk around the environment - I so wish they were larger, but then again, that would have probably required a sacrifice in detail....

The level of detail is incredible.

I thought the same too lol. I mean we (we meaning to us individual players) literally took out a small army with the help of 2-3 people. Kinda weird for naughty dog to try to make Lozaravich put things in perspective. At that point, I'm thinking he must think his hired henchmen suck. Even his treasure guide (Flynn) needed my help.

I kinda wish there was more zoran backstory actually, he wasnt that fleshed out. The concept art of him in the russian winter outfit was awesome, wish we could of saw more of that. And more skully was needed.
But overall, I did like the ending though.

Just completed it. I got it at around 11am this morning and I have literally sat here and done nothing but play it since. It's 11pm now. 12 hours. God damn.

I need to rest.

There are 439 kills in all Rambo movies COMBINED. You rack up such a ridiculously high kill count in games, so while
I like that there are games than question your morality and ethics, it's just a little jarring
