Sounds like Uncharted.
There's a story here. I wonder if we'll ever know what happened?
They said absolutely no questions regarding Amy's departure or the change in project leads, obviously.

5.Uncharted 4
6. Halo 5

An entire article that discusses AI and gameplay, and some of you fixate on a comment about it being the biggest game of the year. How ridiculous are some of you. Get the fuck over it.
The same applies to combat. Here, too, are moments that whiff of the cinematics designers hand though its hard to complain when youve just swung across a gap on a rope, let go, smacked a goon in the face on your way down, grabbed his rifle out of the air and started shooting at the next poor fool in your way but the improvements are immediately apparent. Theres the enemy AI, which has been afforded a similar traversal moveset to Drakes, enabling opponents to jump gaps and clamber up ledges in pursuit of their quarry, a true generational leap from the days when foes would spawn behind cover and stay there. Break line of sight by crouching into the dense, reactive foliage, perhaps, or dropping yourself off a ledge and enemies wont return to their preset patrol routes, but stay in place or seek you out, communicating all the while. Uncharted 4s combat isnt just about shooting, but a blend of stealth, traversal, melee and gunplay set in a vast, vertical space full of opportunities. Suddenly, a series once famed for its linearity feels uncommonly like a sandbox.
It's gonna be freakin salt mine there.I have a feeling we might see a repeat of the UC3 review thread if it doesn't get showered with 10/10s
Nice read... I want to see more. My #1 hope is for a great variety in environments, and more satisfying/visceral weapon combat (similarly to TLoU).
I'm less talking about gore, and more about weapon sound and impact. The Order does it well also. Enemies stagger when hit, weapons have significant recoil, etc. Uncharted enemies have always been very bullet sponge'ie. And tge assualt rifles for example, always feel like pea shooters to me.I don't think we're going to see gore TLOU style but definitely more satisfying (smooth feel) weapon handling. Improved A.I goes a long way in creating the "satisfying feel" too - it's a feedback system after all.
Very true, but even on it's own merits I don't feel it'll top things like Arkham Knight, Witcher 3, No Man's Sky MGSV, Zelda, Xenoblade or Persona 5.
It's still going to hopefully be awesome though.

More anticipated by who? you? cool.Interesting article indeed. Although, the "biggest game of the year" is totally arguable. I can think of like a lot of games that are more anticipated such as Metal Gear Solid V, Zelda, The Witcher 3, Arkham Knight, Persona 5 or Xeno X.
Back on the article, I love what they're doing with the vertical settings. Very too few games are doing it and a lot feels like you only have a unique layer.
It gives, IMO, a better feeling of your game, like expending your possibilities or the size of your world, just by being able to reach new heights. I loved that in Assassin's Creed series, and I'm really anticipating it for Uncharted 4, even if it's done in a different way.
It's gonna be freakin salt mine there.
I remember these exact things being said about the TLOU review thread in the run up to it being posted, and when that didn't happen some members of GAF really embarassed themselves with trolling, provocation and occasionally actual begging for 'meltdowns' when they didn't get the reactions they wanted. I expect similar for UC4's review thread.
More anticipated by who? you? cool.
UC4 was chosen by GAF as the most anticipated title for 2015. GAF is more than you alone right?
Bruce Straley has directed two games, one sits at 96 and the other sits on 95 on Metacritic. Both decimated every other game in terms of GotY wins the year of their release.
Yep. Then add visuals with the Naughty Gods working with everything the PS4 has to offer, I'd agree with the 'Biggest game of the year' line.
Ever since Nathan Drake first reached for a glimmering handhold in 2007s Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, this series climbing systems have been exercises in linearity, in following a single, obvious path to the next combat scene or set-piece. The PSX demo, and the extended version were shown at the studio, do a poor job of conveying just how much that has changed. At a glance, Drakes clambering seems to be the same as ever, a semi-automated journey between conveniently placed and similarly coloured ledges and handholds. There are new tools, but the 2014 Nathan Drakes piton mimics the 2013 Lara Crofts climbing axe right down to the look of the surfaces on which it can be used, while the grapple rope can only be attached to preordained points marked with a button prompt. When Drake misjudges a jump and nearly falls, saved only by the tips of his fingers, it is hard to resist a roll of the eyes.
He takes a totally different route. Uncharteds climbing has been drastically overhauled, its PS3-era animation system scrapped and rebuilt to allow full analogue movement through 360 degrees using real body physics. Slip events, as Straley calls them, are not mapped to individual parts of scenery but triggered by the angle and distance of Drakes jump, as well as the type of handhold. ... Uncharteds most linear system has become remarkably freeform. Instead of pushing up on the stick, youre solving a puzzle. Its not about finding the start of the path and sticking to it, but forging your own.
The same applies to combat...

Calling it the "biggest game of the year" is such a stupid thing to say, especially when there will be so many bigger titles this year.
MGSV for example will beat the shit out of it with content and sales.
That being said I'm sure it will be a good game but "biggest" is definitely the wrong word for UC4.
And this on the other hand is just what I wanted to hear; I never could buy in on the hype for Naughty Dog, Uncharted to me has always been a very mediocre 3rd person shooter (with unsatisfying weapons, excessive use of set-pieces, janky controls and awful enemy and encounter design).
But. The Last of Us changed this though, showing that Naughty Dog could create a game with not just a much better story than the tripe in Uncharted but also great mechanics along with it, it felt like a completely different game.
I believe Neil Druckmann is a huge reason why The Last of Us became the masterpiece it did - and I think Amy Henning leaving and Druckmann taking over was the best thing that could ever happen for the Uncharted series.
l simply could not agree more. I hated all 3 uncharted games but TLOU was spectacular
Uncharted 4 from the setup is not that different as you make it seem.Simply could not agree more. I hated all 3 uncharted games but TLOU was spectacular, I don't care about story in games so ND did something very right with TLOU in terms of gameplay. If Hennig and the other guy were still leads for UC4 I would not even give the game a second glance but now that the two behind TLOU are making this game? Sign me up, this game will be good.

And Gaf isn't the entire video game buying community. He made a valid point. Title should say "the biggest game of the year according to Neogaf."
Of course not. Uncharted is more like "Indiana Jones", if you know what I mean.I don't think we're going to see gore TLOU style but definitely more satisfying (smooth feel) weapon handling. Improved A.I goes a long way in creating the "satisfying feel" too - it's a feedback system after all.
You definitely are with those statements. Jk it's your opinion after all.Great seeing I'm not alone. I seriously think you're the first guy ever agreeing whole hearted with me on this; in all these Uncharted threads I felt like I've been living in a separate reality. Ha!

Bruce Straley has the same position on Uncharted 4 as he did on Uncharted 2. Neil Druckmann was promoted from Uncharted 2 to Uncharted 4, but was still a lead designer.
In addition to that the game was already in pre-production when they took over.

Wonder how dynamic the AI is really going to be. Them being able to traverse now sounds promising.
We already got a taste of it in the gameplay demo, but it would be cool to see how they behave in different scenarios throughout the game.

The trailers and gameplay for MGS V look nothing special to say the very least, watched the gameplay video and all I could think was that the woman needed to put some clothes on. Xenoblade looks awesome so could very well beat Uncharted 4 but Witcher 3 and Zelda? People are having a laugh..
I'm gonna give you a free pass because maybe you didn't see it there, but Metal Gear Solid is a whole lot fucking bigger than Uncharted or any Naughty Dog series.

The game isn't going to fail because there are some over eager people trying to have a wank off over what is the "biggest."It's these kind of statements that cause major friction, I don't want people to see MGSV fail just to spite posts like these, c'mon guys.

biggest game of the year ... lol
uncharted games are good but come on
He made a solid point about other games that are more anticipated for him? I don't get it, it's a better merit than GAF's chosen games? What!?And Gaf isn't the entire video game buying community. Fun read, slowly getting more interested in this game the more I hear about what they are adding to the gameplay.
