Nope, they'll just create a new NintendoWare. Nintendo has a lot of very experienced tech guys and nearly unlimited ressources.
I still stand by my prediction. Hmph!

Europe!
(Not getting any more specific than that, so you guys can feel free to believe this or not.)

Theres appareently 50 Cyengine games in production
Ubisoft it is then.
I think we'll get at least one or two Wiiu news around GDC. I highly doubt it though lol

I'm going to throw out an off-the-wall prediction: Nintendo will be licensing CryEngine as the official engine for all of their big next-gen titles.
Mike Capps of Epic games, who made the garden demo for WiiU
It woul be really nice to see an agreement of some sort between Nintendo and Crytek as a provider for middelware but i hope that it won't cause any trouble with Epic...
We don't have to forget that in the end, Crytek and Epic are fighting for the same.

It might just be more time effective to buy the damn company and all the rights to the engine. Then just make all forward development on it for the WiiU and start adding Japanese developers to the engine team in case the European guys up and quit like what happens with a lot of purchased companies.
pipe dream territory lolNintendo won't do anything as far as that goes.
They may, read MAY, have Crytek do an exclusive game using the engine (like MS does with GoW).
And that game MAY be Time Splitters 4.
pipe dream territory lol
would be amazing though
House Nintendo need to rally the banners of all the developers which have pledged fealty to them and have them combine their efforts on some form of super title. This title will become somewhat the 'Moat Cailin' of the industry, and so the Wii U will be invincible unless Ironmen take the north.
Who agrees?
There's a rumor going around that Crytek will be showing a CryEngine Wii U demo behind closed doors at GDC.
We'll probably not find out either way if it actually happened, but I would go ahead and label this as pretty damn credible.
ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhsafskdalksdafkkjdfa I just want E3 to come already. I just know they have a megaton or 2 when it comes to partnerships or games confirmed to be coming to wiiU in the future. I SENSE IT.The franchise is basically dead.
Nintendo could probably get it pretty easy.
And it fits Nintendo pretty well.
It's a light hearted game, despite semi serious tones.

well the most appealing things about time splitters is the MP, can't say how the SP would play out. That's the game that Crytek UK has been working on,isn't it?
I've never been too much into Time splitters but i like very much the tech used by crytek so that may be a good reason to bite..
Do you think it would be more like Crysis 1 (open gameplay in extense sceneries) or 2?

Why would using CryEngine be a bad idea though?
I'm not doubting the skill of Nintendo's internal tech people, but the fact remains that they don't have much "real-world" experience developing HD games. We saw a lot of Japanese devs with impressive internal software devisions stumble at the beginning of this gen because of similar inexperience (Square Enix, early-gen Capcom).
Licensing a ready-made next-gen engine would go a long way towards insuring Nintendo maintains their current output level, even increase it.

Nintendo has never used an outside engine for their main games. And with good reason. They know how to get far more out of their systems than any middle were every could. Why would using CryEngine be a bad idea though?

Winter is coming...
Ah yes, I had forgotten that Capcom have bent the knee to Nintendo, but what about Sega? It seems like a shady alliance at best considering the blood shed in the past between the two. I think there's always the chance that they'll betray their liege lords and try and reclaim power once more. I imagine Hajime Satomi is liking the thought of being 'Lord Paramount of the East'. Nintndo would be wise to try and marry Reggie Fils Aime to one of Satomi's daughters, keeping her hostage in Nintendo HQ to prevent them from trying anything.
Nintendo should be pleased that the full might of Ubisoft appears to be on their side, I just hope Ubisoft do not hold foul intentions.
At most I could see a censored version of Kana: Little Sister on the Wii U. Though other visual novels could probably work really well with the Wii U remote. Fate/Stay Night (all-age version), Clannad and so would be a nice addition to what Nintendo usually offers. And as they've expressed interest in e-books, there's manga as well.My sources tell me Nintendo will be reviving old third party franchise. The first will be Virtual Valerie, to capture the mature market.
I thought Timesplitters singleplayer was pretty shitty.
The multiplayer was TITS though.
/Quinton
That is true, however Sega have gained a lot of power since then. As I mentioned, it'd be wise for Nintendo to marry off Reggie..
What is the relationship like between Namco Bandai and Nintendo these days?
]So what you're suggesting is that Nintendo's been sitting idly by for the last half decade, with all their tech dudes working on extracting more shader effects from the TEV?
Sega's power only comes from making games for Nintendo, though.
On their own, they are powerless.
Also, I believe Reggie is already to be wed to Capcom's daughter, in exchange for Resident Evil and Monster Hunter.
I wonder what the possibility of shipping a cry engine based game at launch. Surely it could launch with Crysis 2.

Timesplitters would likely benefit from being Wii U exclusive than another multi platform FPS to forget about. The level creator could utilize cryengine's creation tools and the Wii U screen in tandem for some awesomeness. Additionally Timesplitter's multiplayer game types could be made really interesting with the Wii U controller. Don't forget the tech developed for Star Wars Battlefront 3, so TS4 could be a real kick ass title. Well if some of you would prefer Homefront 2 instead, be my guest.
Why is the CryEngine on the WiiU interesting though? If the WiiU is 360ish technically, then the CryEngine running on it makes sense no?
I have a question for you crazy people. If the WiiU is an 360 in tech, what are the odds of 720/PS4 games coming on it then?
Total WarSega's power only comes from making games for Nintendo, though.
Well it's like Call of Duty... who *really* plays those games for the singleplayer campaigns anymore?
Total War
I think a lot of people still do. Crysis is arguably the most successful this gen but I thought TimeSplitters 3 had a pretty good campaign and could be played co-op thru the whole thing. If we're talking about pipe dreams, I'd love to see a new Turok on Cry Engine 3.
In the UK they have a BBC iPlayer channel, I would expect them to have it for the Wii U (unless they try and charge for access).
What are the odds of Witcher 2 and BF3 being ported to 360 / PS3 ?
Uhhh...no?
But I really doubt that many of the other devs who've stumbled this gen were just sitting on their asses until HD gaming hit consoles. Like most other industries, there's a big difference when it comes to prepping and releasing an actual retail product. Just don't think it would be an entirely outlandish thing that they team up with a company that has plenty of experience in that regard. And they have been pretty chummy with Crytek, it seems...
native PC games...buh?
They explicitly can not charge for access to iPlayer, thanks to The Unique Way The BBC Is Funded. I'd hope it's a given on the Wii U, and if it streams to the pad, that'll be fantastic.
buh?
