So they are being payed, I thought they were just a bunch of fanboys
lets see how microsoft and machinima respond to this
How i wish they'd just drop out of the gaming landscape, they bring nothing good to the table at all.
I honestly don't get the uproar about this. Someone explain to me what the difference between this and, for example, paying for celebrity endorsement is?
I don't see the problem with this. All Microsoft is doing is paying and supporting the content creators supporting them. If other content creators who aren't fond of the Xbox Brand, decide to jump aboard and sell out on their personal beliefs for money, that's their fault and Microsoft's gain.
Just like any business contract, which this is, by the way, you aren't legally allowed to discuss the terms, conditions, or what you receive from it, so whatever.
The "you can't be negative about the Xbox One and it must be relevant" part also makes sense, why would the support you trashing their product? Besides, it's necessary. You already saw some posts on GAF discuss loopholes and ways to get money from Microsoft without doing anything. "Put it at the end of a totally unrelated video! Make a video discussing this bullshit and make money since it's about the Xbox One! Tall badly about the Xbox One and tag the video so you get paid!"
Can't blame Microsoft.
As a content creator and YouTuber myself, my channel is already practically a Xbox only channel (thanks Sony for making it so hard and BS to capture PS3 footage! And thanks even more for not allowing PS4 footage at all!), so I'm just getting paid for doing what I already do, I don't see the negative. Microsoft is just supporting those supporting them.
I know you're being sarcastic, and the hidden tag is hilarious, but seriously I sort of agree.
So you're saying you have faith in MS setting an awful precedent?
Good to know...
I knew someone that was in advertising, and the tin foil hatters aren't tin foiley enough! Marketing is embedded everywhere. They have gotten smart, and have people working their angles slowly in forums, and places like Reddit (this one a little bit more obvious).
Wait you get paid?!?!?As a NeoGAF moderator who is clearly paid on commission by Sony for banning righteous Xbox and Nintendo fans, I am offended.
I don't see the problem with this.
Just in case anyone missed this little gem from the official FTC document on this subject:
I threw in Example 8 as well to demonstrate that MS has absolutely no problem with violating FTC rules with the amount of fucking shills they throw at this place.
I'm really starting to hope that this is their last console.
You guys are jumping to conclusions way too fast. I think this might be an inside job by Phil Harrison.
I haven't watched much Joe but in the few epodes I caught around E3 he had a giant Superman logo chilling in the background and that was right around when the movie was coming out. What was that about?
Now we're in full-on illegal territory, right?
Aren't we piling on Microsoft for simply playing the system too well?
Yes this deal is gross, but isn't it the case that Machinema and other popular YouTube accounts actively facilitate this kind of scummy behaviour?
It's easy to criticise Microsoft (I do it all the time), but I think what's more important here is this news shatters the illusion that YouTube gaming channels like Machinema provide a more credible or authentic type of games coverage than the regular gaming press.
When even Arthur Gies thinks you fucked up, you know you've hit rock bottom.
umm..The thing is... they can't disclose anything about being paid to say good things about the xbox oneWait, what? Although paying for advertising like this is bloody abhorrent, there's nothing illegal about it...?
Man, my sister just got back from NY, and I was disappointed in your notes. The designs are not bad, but they feel like monopoly money, and there's barely any difference between the $100 bill and $1 bill. In the UK the £50 note is a fair degree larger than the other notes.
Our £20 vs your $20.
? I have faith in MS's legal department, which has undoubtedly drafted forms like this before to have anticipated this issue.
Even Ben Kuchera isn't trying to defend them.

I think this has been grossly overstated. There's no easy fix to the gaming industry's problem.
Publishers (magazines, websites, etc.) preview and review games while producers (publishers, developers, etc.) control access to the games. Writers will lose their audience without timely coverage - something they can only get if they keep game makers happy.
Rock, meet hard place.

Crazy that Ben of all people, sees how abhorrent this is before some posters here see it.
It's payola.Wait, what? Although paying for advertising like this is bloody abhorrent, there's nothing illegal about it...?

Indeed. But it won't since Titanfall is going to sell a kajillion consoles.I'm really starting to hope that this is their last console.

What's the problem with being paid for saying good things about the console? That's how advertisement goes. Microsoft trying to make the advertisement pass as an honest "gamer to gamer" opinion is dumb.
My fellow robogamers, I'm here to spread the good word of our Lord and Saviour, Xbox One. Can I get an Amen?
Oh okay, so that makes this a non issue, besides it being scummy?
Must be a pain to fit in your wallets. The top of the bills constantly sticking out.
I wonder how many "marketeers" has Microsoft hidden in Neogaf.

From what mods have commented on, there were a bunch in the last two junior intakes.
