February was the month of small, yet polished experiences! Plenty of smaller games that surprised us more than we thought possible, which is also reflected in the voting. March looks a bit meatier and hopefully we see more impressions to have some more people participating in the vote than last month.
Additionally, minichange in the title formatting to make a distinction to last years threads.
Other than that, the current month has 51 games in the released section and 86 in the future section, so have fun guys with another month of Indies!

| 3.5 Quick Note about Formatting |
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you want to suggest a game that has recently released or that looks interesting, but hasnt released yet, please follow the following formatting structure:
Released games:
Not yet released games:
If the game is free, then put "Free" as the price, otherwise please use $ or € for the price. You can also include more than one game per post (like the Screenshot saturday posts), but please stick to the above format for every entry.
If someone posts a non-proper formatted post, I'd appreciate if you could repost the game with the same info in the proper format.
Hey! I assume you are new in this thread series and want to see what we were up to? Or you didnt have enough time to play through all of the games from the last month but still want to catch up with the best ones? Then this list is for YOU! These were the games we enjoyed the most in the previous thread, voted on by the community (More thorough descriptions and impressions in the previous thread, especially the last few pages with the voting):
I noticed there are a few noteworthy, and relatively unknown, projects that deserve a shoutout here because I feel that they share a common interest with the people in this thread. I talked to the guy from Pixabyte and MetaVendetta and both are very enthusiastic about the things they love and figured you might appreciate the shoutout as well. If you enjoy anything here or want to give feedback, let these guys know via their websites or also here in this thread. If you appreciate something, let people know. A heads up can sometimes very valuable.
These were the games we enjoyed the most in the previous thread, voted on by the community (More thorough descriptions and impressions in the previous thread, especially the last few pages with the voting):
1. Olympia Rising - Free Online Demo/ (PC, Mac, Linux)
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/paleozoic/olympia-rising
The visuals are charming, the animations smooth and fluid. Perhaps the most rewarding aspect is when you build a smooth flow through an area, leaping from one enemy to the next, tripling jumping around platforms to continue your chain. It just feels satisfying and the solid responsive controls means such skill rests in the player's own ability. I think Olympia Rising is a promising title with great potential, appealing to both the fans of speedrunning and platformers who enjoy the thrill of moving through an environment with swiftness and precision, and the fans of exploration and old school challenge.
2. Lyne - $3 (PC, Mac, Linux, IOS, Android)
http://www.lynegame.com/
While LYNE is also available on PC, I'm convinced that the best way to play it is on a touchscreen. The smooth minimal interface hides a massive wealth of content. The puzzle mechanics themselves are simple - connect various paths between nodes - but the infinite levels and the increasingly challenging puzzles make it an enjoyable addictive experience.
3. simian.interface - Free/PWYW (Browser, PC, Mac)
http://www.vested-interest.co/simian/
An excellent month for abstract Flash games, it seems. This one is a simple, but very stylish puzzle game that plays around with perspective on a 2D field. Heavily inspired by Fez, methinks. Starts out innocently and goes to some weird and awesome places (you're trying to reboot a monkey, I think? also,drugsbananas and behaviourism?). I finished it in a single sitting. Soundtrack keeps you pumped all the way through.
3. Magnetized - Free, $2.99 (PC, Browser, IOS)
http://www.cloud-macaca.com/2013/04/magnetized-available-on-gamejolt.html
Stylistically, it is very similar to a game like *ahem* Impulse (obligatory and required Impulse cameo as sacrifice to avoid any other impulsive thread havoc) . The mechanic is quickly explained: You're a little dot that floats in a straight line and you have to navigate through a level by activating the magnetic pull which influences you're trajectory. It's free to play in your browser and, well, I've kinda been going at it for for at least 45 minutes now and it simply hooks the player.
5. The Banner Saga - $24.99 (PC, Mac)
http://store.steampowered.com/app/237990
An epic role-playing game inspired by Viking legend. Hand-painted landscapes portray a world eerily suspended in perpetual twilight. Cities and towns begin to crumble into chaos. Heroes abandon their hearths and homes to traverse the snowy countryside, gaining allies along the way to help battle a strange, new threat. Decisions have consequences; wise choices must be made when conversing with possible allies during intricately crafted dialogues. Turn-based strategy brings tactical challenge in hand-animated battle sequences to gamers waiting to re-experience classic adventures and tactics.
5. Magicians & Looters - €5,49 (PC)
http://www.desura.com/games/magicians-and-looters
Its an action platformer with RPG and Metroidvania elements and also actually very apt at what it does. The initial 15 minutes are really bland and I wasnt too sold on the combat itself, but past the starting area, I was very surprised to see plenty of hidden areas, metroidvania style map progression, interesting room/enemy setups that require some mildly challenging strategies, switches, shortcuts, a magic system, equipment, a level up system and 3 different characters between which you can switch to reach certain areas of the map. It might be short, but its certainly enjoyable.
Episode 8: New Indie Year
[Valdis Story: Abyssal City | The Cave | Antichamber | The Stanley Parable | Samurai Gunn]
This is a monthly podcast series that presents notable Indie Game soundtracks. A likeable host and guests, a fantastic track selection, interesting discussions and a focus for Indies will make this one a mainstay in my monthly threads.
