Do they say if the demos are up only for a limited time?

Edit: By the way, the ESRB, USK, and Aussie COB rated a Wii game called Power Punch, it's published by XS Games, and it's even apparently being developed by Grand Prix, makers of Victorious Boxers Revolution for Wii. It seems to be only speculation that it'll be for WiiWare, but I wouldn't doubt it'll be for retail.

Not that I'm aware of, no. They don't have a separate demo section though. The demo's are treated as normal Wiiware releases but for 0 points. Kind of strange and will probably be fixed.

I just saw the demo versions of Bit Trip and Nyx quest on the European Wiiware channel. Downloaded them and played them and liked them both. Especialy Nyx quest. I think this will help sales immensely. When you finish the demo version, the channel loads up and goes to the purchase screen and I purchased them. I hope they make demo's for more Wiiware games.

How do the demos work? Are they time limited, or are they simply sections of the game? Did you note any size differences between the demo download and the full game (i.e., are you downloading the full game and then "unlocking" it by purchasing, or are you downloading a smaller version of the game)?

Downloading the demos now :D Though I already have Bit Trip Beat and my brother has Nyx on his Wii, FFCC should help me out as I've still yet to buy it.

It does say something about them being up for a limited time only, but nothing more than that.

ESRB just rated Indiana Jones® Greatest Adventures™ for Wii.

Platform: Wii

Rating: Everyone 10+

Content descriptors: Mild Violence

Rating summary:
In this arcade-style action platformer, players assume the role of Indiana Jones as he explores 2D side-scrolling environments. Players navigate platforms by running and using a whip; they also avoid obstacles (e.g., bear traps, spiked pits, falling debris) and fight several enemies along the way. Players use hand-to-hand combat, a pistol, and their trusty whip to defeat enemies. Humans and animals (bats, piranhas, spiders, wolves, etc.) react to damage by blinking, then disappearing. The brief gunfights represent the most intense aspect of gameplay.

Demos are up in Australia, too. NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits, BIT. TRIP BEAT and FFCC: My Life as a Darklord.

I didn't see any time restrictions and the demo's were about 200 blocks each so it could have been full games. When you finish the demo a advertisement screen pops up and you automatically connect to the Wiiware purchase page of the game.

200 blocks means they probably are the full games, but it would be clinched if you could say whether after paying for them they just activated or you had a very, very brief download (some kind of unlock key).

I really hope this experiment proves to Nintendo that demos can be effective at increasing sales on the service. If they do go for demos on all new releases, I'd hope that they realise that having time limits on the availability of demos for digital services is a bit daft.

Maturity, bitches.
iPlayer and Wii Ware demos. Good week from NoE and it's not even Friday yet.
Will check on Bit Trip when I get home.

I'm amused that the demo of Bit.Trip Beat is all I've ever actually seen of the game, having owned it for several months now...

I find myself doubting this pretty hardcore.

I was looking forward to Pokemon Rumble, but 1500 points is stupid expensive. I'd love to say "I'll wait for the price drop", but that's obviously not in the cards.

I've watched someone play the Japanese version and it seems to have a lot of content so maybe the 1500 price point is worth it.

Wow! Awesome lineup of demos, and it almost makes up for the lack of WiiWare releases. The Indy game looks interesting as well, and it seems the LucasArts VC relationship has borne some welcome fruit.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
Hrm...I suppose demos are good news. And they certainly picked a great batch of games as the first lineup.

That said, kinda a disappointing week overall.

Cave Story is vaporware, isn't it? :lol

good follow up to last weeks' greatness. hopefully the demos dont expire and i could play them world without end
can nint make it 3 non-crappy weeks in a row and give us shantae, cave story and earthbound in the next week. hehe now i got y'all mad

not only did they remake the original bitgenerations game (for the sake of comparison is selling for 20-40$ on ebay, so u not only save $ u get a prettier version) but they kept the original name too. Best artstyle since Orbient. this will be the fist time i download at least one game off the updates two weeks in a row - last week was excitebike online. this week - the jpg.

Intersect (Digidrive's euro name) is a masterpiece of addictive puzzling – a potent culmination of the series’ trademark soothing aesthetics and completely frantic and infuriating gameplay. Though not the simplest puzzle game around, once you’ve mastered some of its tricks Art Style Intersect will have you hooked.
9/10

Holy cow, demos! I didn't know that it would be this soon since the announcement, and so numerous.

I can finally try certain popular Wiiware games I wouldn't have otherwise tried! Namely Crystal Chronicles, Pokemon Rumble, and NyxQuest.

Joke Post?

In quantity, I mean. I still remember the one-title-a-week days at the beginning.

That said, I personally have found just as much, if not more, to love on DSiWare than WiiWare this year. No joke.

They didn't say Rumble had a demo, I don't think.

NyxQuest isn't a question of a demo for me; it's that I'm not sinking time into it just yet till I clear my schedule up a bit first.

I can't really argue with you about DSiWare at this point because I haven't even picked up anything for it since launch, I just think its a missed opportunity that Nintendo isn't releasing more. I just look for the type of games like Bomberman and Mario march of the minis. Also, quality>quantity.

From a consumer perspective, sure, though what constitutes "quality" of course differs from person to person.

But a higher quantity of releases indicates interest in the service and a variety of kinds of titles can mean a more healthy ecosystem.

Fixed. How about they just port the whole rest of the series. :D

Man, I would have rather had Orbital on DSiWare.

(I wonder if I'd rebuy it...)
