Looks like injured wrist really slowed me down, I don't think I'll hit 52 this year either.

In Progress:
Puzzle Quest (PSP)
Infested Planet (PC)
Lego Jurassic World (PS4)
Etrian Odyssey Untold 2 (3DS)
Bravely Second (3DS)
Pokemon Shuffle (Android)
Terra Battle (Android)

Game 1: Fallout 4 (PS4) 4 / 5
# Not wildly different from fallout 3, polished, but options somewhat limited
Game 2: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U) 3 / 5
# Not wildly different from other mario games, polished and solid
Game 3: Wolfenstein: Old Blood (PS4) 3 / 5
# Run and gun limited, too much stealth, return to occult themes was welcome
Game 4: Final Fantasy Type 0 HD (PS4) 1 / 5
# Character diversity was great, but too many awful or out of place mechanics
Game 5: Elder Scrolls Online (PS4) 2 / 5
# Dull story gets in the way, good build variety, end-game outside of pvp lacking
Game 6: Lara Croft GO (Android) 3 / 5
# Clever puzzles, some non-sensical rules (like no skip turn)
Game 7: Dragon Quest Heroes (PS4) 4 / 5
# Polished, a nice twist on musuo, lots of character variation, somewhat repetitive
Game 8: Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl (3DS) 3 / 5
# A solid dungeon crawler, but not as good as EO IV
Game 9: Metro: Last Light Redux (PS4) 4 / 5
# Even after multiple playthroughs, still remains to be one of my favourite shooters
Game 10: Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (PS4) 2 / 5
# MP is 1 hit kill shit-show, campaign kind of a mess. Wasn't devoid of fun, though
Game 11: The Witness (PS4) 4 / 5
# Challenging puzzles and interesting twists on their mechanics.
Game 12: Pokemon Yellow (3DS) 5 / 5
# An amazing classic, holds up for me after all this time.
Game 13: Hitman Go (PS4) 4 / 5
# Not quite as challenging as the witness, but entertaining and cheap
Game 14: Puzzle Quest 2 (Android) 4 / 5
# Simple but entertaining concept. Much better than the latest free to play match 3 games.
Game 15: Dying Light (PS4) 4 / 5
# Still entertaining the second time through. Parkour and combat is satisfying, story needs to go.
Game 16: Gravity Rush Remastered (PS4) 5 / 5
# Amazing game, second time through. Looking forward to the sequel.
Game 17: Doom (PS4) 5 / 5
# Best shooter I've played in a long time. This is a proper Doom game.
Game 18: Uncharted 4 (PS4) 4 / 5
# Great set pieces and story, gameplay has a few sore spots.
Game 19: Battlefield: Hardline (PS4) 1 / 5
# Dumb plot, dumb mechanics.. when will someone make a proper Battlefield campaign?
Game 20: Mad Max (PS4) 3 / 5
# Repetitive, but matches the style of the movie very well. Combat is satisfying as is driving.
Game 21: Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (PS4) 3 / 5
# Interesting story and presentation. Combat is fun, but enemy variety is lacking.

Game 1: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - 2h (Xbox One)
# Short game more just demo for MGSV (but everyone knew that a long time ago). Picked it up free from Games with Gold awhile back, gave it go to see if I wanted to play MGSV (I do) overall quick time killer.

Game 2: Until Dawn - 10h (PS4)
# I was all about Until Dawn for the last two years. Game launches and I didn't have my PS4 yet but was pleased to hear that is was well received, which helped me get more hyped to play this game. Got a PS4 over the hoildays and picked up Until Dawn. Was very pleased that game lived up to my hype, and was overall better then I could have hoped. Love the Slasher/horror movie setting and plot, but I love how it is deeper then just your everyday Slasher. Looking forward to going back getting the platinum on this game in the near future.

Game 3: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary - 6h (Xbox One - MCC)
# I run every Halo game once a year for the last 5 years. Thought I would get a early start this year, and pan it out through the whole year.

Game 4: Halo: Reach - 6h (Xbox One - BC)
# Game two out if my yearly Halo run, probably will start Halo 2 in the near future. Side note Reach was rough around the edges performance wise on the One.

Game 5: Gone Home - 4h (Xbox One)
# This was just a wonderful experience overall. Short, simple, interactive story that I felt had some really feeling beyond. I love story based games and though this not full experience for a story - based game I'm look for it still scratched that itch. For how wonderful it was I still feel iffy about the $20 price tag. Overall I love this game and understand all the hype behind this game. Also not difficult but it was my first perfection of the year.

Game 6: Thomas Was Alone - 4h (PS4)
# A very fun simplistic game, gameplay wise (puzzle platformer). Found the story to be funny, and interesting story about "shapes". Overall great experience. Also easy trophy hunt.

Game 7: Halo 2 - 7h (Xbox One)
# Third Halo game to be finished in my Halo run.

Game 8: Journey - 2h (PS4)
# Beautiful score and scenery. Along with the atmosphere help me buy into this game in a very short amount of time. I love (and no pun intended) the journey this game takes you on. It struck a note with me. Damn good.

Game 9: Halo 3 - 6h (Xbox One - MCC)
# Fouth game in my Halo run.

February
Game 10: Halo 3: ODST - 6h (Xbox One - MCC)
# Fifth game in my Halo run.

Game 11: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - 8h (PS4 - UCC)
# Beginning my first run of the Uncharted games in prep for Uncharted 4. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was overall fun, but doesn't feel it's part of this masterpiece of a series people claim these games are, but that is what I was expecting. Uncharted 1 works great to set the foundation of this masterpiece series . Looking forward to play UC 2 and 3 and pretty hyped for UC 4 knowing how much better the series gets.

Game 12: Firewatch - 6h (PS4)
# I enjoyed Firewatch, and thought it was a great first effort by Campo Santo (Even with the preformance on the PS4 is not ideal). I felt the game did a lot individual elements well, to me it just seem they didn't blend perfectly. Visually this game is so beautiful. I found it easy to get behind the theme and the message the game sends. Not perfect, but still worth my time. Looking forward to Campo Santo's next project whenever that may be.

Game 13: Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 - 20h (Xbox One)
# For myself "completing" a Call of Duty game gets broken down into three requirements. Complete the campaign, reach first prestige in the multiplayer, and a few rounds of zombies. Let's start with the campaign. I don't have high expectations when it comes to CoD campaigns in fact I have very low expectations. Black Ops 3 found a way to be lower them my already low expectations. I found the campaign to be very boring and poorly write. Yes I know this Call of Duty I'm talking about but even for CoD standards this is bad. I felt that the game fell flat on every tune it tried to set, leavening me wishing that I hadn't wasted my time. The only fun I found was playing it co-op with my friend and just roasting the story one bad cutscene and poor dialog at time. A great example to how not to write a story. Multiplayer. I found the multiplayer surprisingly fun. I'm not much of CoD player and haven't been since MW2, but I enjoy how Black Ops 3 tackeled multiplayer. Yes at its core it is still CoD so a lot my problems I have with the game still exist. I also have trouble adapting to the idea of enhanced movement (had te same problem in Titanfall). All that side the part I enjoy the most is that it more about the gunplay and gunfights. Pointstreaks are not overly easy to get, making players relay on their own skill to compete. Most perk I found to be useless and gun attachment to be more vital then perks, once again making player relay more on skill. Being more of a Battlefield player I enjoy these changes. Zombies. In the few rounds I played of zombies I felt that this isn't worth my time. Yes with some friends fun can found, but I felt like it's just over complicated of such a fun simple idea. I'm passing on zombies.

Game 14: Life is Strange - 15h (Xbox One)
# I have a small list of games that I feel like in their own regrades are the best examples of master story telling, and hammer home the "Games as Art" ideal. Life is Strange is now a new comer to that list. I never knew much about Life is Strange. I heard the buzz about the game as the episodes were being released, and bought into the hype when it was all over the "Game of the Year" talk. This game was nothing short of amazing. I put my heart into this game because I was sold on it from the first episode, and I wanted to fully experience the story as it unfolded in front of me. For a game based around the idea of time traveling it came off very believable. From the characters, setting, story, to the situations in which Max and Chloe had to tackle. I was able to relate based on my own personal struggles in life. This left me with so great warm hearted moments while able to leave me with a crushed soul. I never took on a game quite like this. I would spend hours after beating an episode thinking about my choices not only in the game but in my own life. I don't know if I would say it was life changing but it was close. I may never play Life is Strange again but this is now a game I will point to as art as well as a must play. No game has ever made me think about myself more. Truly ( and as cheesy as this line may be) Life is Strange.

March
Game 15: Far Cry: Primal - 31h (Xbox One)
# I thought Primal may have what it takes to be a sleep hit for 2016 though it did not live up to that hype in my time with game it still turned out to be the right game at the right time. Coming off mindless hours of CoD muiltplayer and an emotional trip like no other from Life is Strange. I was in need of something simple but not mindless. Primal is your classic Ubi "checklist" game, which I enjoy. I give credit to FC for changing things up with the stone age setting with out a bad hit the gameplay. The story was simple and forgettable, though the a cool stone age story could be told this is not the game to find it in. The game was worth my time to prefect, and was more fun the FC .4 Primal was kinda overall forgettable, but hold hope that the next FC will bring us to other cool setting.

Game 16: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - 14h (PS4 - UCC)
# My prep for Uncharted 4 continues with my first run of Uncharted 2. The best way I feel like to highlight all the thing that UC 2 does right is to look at the jump it makes from UC 1. UC 2 improves everything that UC 1 set up. Just like AC 1 to AC 2, a strong foundation was made and built on to make an amazing game. As I learned (if I'm remembering correctly) via of Kinda Funny, UC 1 was pitched as a PS3 tech demo. Learning this after playing UC 1 and before playing UC 2 help shed some light on UC 1. In UC 1 the gameplay was not the best but playable. On harder difficulties you could play yourself into a corner and have runs killed. Though overall the story and supporting characters were fine, I didn't enjoy my time as Drake. However UC 2 used this foundation to put this series on the track that I have always heard it was on. The gameplay was much better and had more options on how to tackle an encounter. Overall the game look and moves better the UC 1. The story was a top notch action story. Great set piece (dat opening), felt like a summer blockbuster with some heart. That heart came from the great writing and characters. Once more the side characters were great, rather they were companions or villains, their diolog and writing were great. For myself I was happy that I enjoyed my time as Nate. Yes some hiccups still exist for his character but UC 2 made me care about him more then UC 1 did. UC 2 is a game I now love and an experience worth having. The more of the UC series I play the more clear the path comes. The path that leads to TLoU and soon to UC 4.

Game 17: Tom Clancy's The Division - 48h (Xbox One)
# Most of the time spent with this game was solo gameplay.
Good:
-Lootbased shooter
-Awesome setting
-Enjoyable Story
-World building with collectiables
-Co-op seems great
Bad:
-Lack of endgame
-Can get very repetitive

April
Game 18: Quantum Break - 22h (Xbox One)
#Remedy's most recent effort was a joyous one. Found the blend of in game story centered around Jack Joice, and the live action tv segments that told the stories of the side characters entertaining. Not a masterpiece story by any means, and still feel like Alan Wake is there best outing, but Quantum Break was a risk. Risk I felt paid off in the form of an enjoyable game.

Game 19: Party Hard - 12h (Xbox One)
#A small, simple top down game about murdering parties around the US. Party Hard story was really nothing, but the game itself was fun, and had mildly challenging part. Fun to play and get a 1000 in.

May
Game 20: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - 9h (PS4 - UCC)
#To some UC 3 was the hight of the UC games. I went in looking for the game to blow me back. While UC 3 is very fun and enjoyable game. I don't believe it is best in the series. Like the UC games before 3 it does well to add something worth liking to Nathan and all its characters. My problem with the game comes in the form that story felt cut off. An ending not as satisfactory as I was hyped to believe. Still an awesome game, and one I will revisit.

Game 21: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - 20h (PS4)
#A masterpiece of a game. ND with The Last of Us before UC 4 has yet again made masterpiece and showed why they are the best right now in storytelling. Despite a slow beginning UC gives you everything you hoped for in Nathan's final adventure. Giving almost every character the send off they deserve. There is very little I can say negative about UC 4. It is just a master class of story and a perfect send off.

June
Game 22: Overwatch - 470h (Xbox One)
#I'm fully addicted to Overwatch. I haven't even played a multiplayer game that is as well balanced as Overwatch, plus it being all team based makes it stand out over the fps’s that are out on the market. Awesome gameplay, great team balance, team focused, and of course a loveable cast of heroes to plays as. Overwatch is just all fun and killing it right now. P.S. I'm a Zarya main.

Game 23: Doom - 27h (Xbox One)
#Like how UC 4 was a masterclass in storytelling, Doom was a masterclass in making fps gameplay. The game is fluid, responsive, and fast. Just a kick ass game. Awesome soundtrack, cool story. Just a ton of fun. One of the best of 2016.

Game 24: Rocket League - 6h (PS4)
#Not much to say that hasn't already been said about how fun Rocket League is. Did a full season, and helped scratch my sports itch.

July
Game 25: Lego Jurassic World - 33h (Xbox One)
#Like the Lego games of the past their fun, simple and repetitive. Regardless I have a soft spot for Lego games, and enjoyed the Jurassic Park theme.

Game 26: Inside - 4h (Xbox One)
#I didn't know how to feel about Inside after beating it, but it grew on me. An awesome puzzle game, and cool art house story. Inside is a top tier game for 2017.

August
Game 27: Mirror's Edge Catalysis - 40h (Xbox One)
#I could go in-depth with this game but after all the hours I spent with it I'm just going to keep it simple. This goes for the original Mirror's Edge as well. Cool concept, average exaction, textbook average game.

September
Game 28: BioShock - 20h (Xbox One - BSC)
#BioShock is perfect in almost every way. Storytelling, environmental storytelling, gameplay, the whole works. Can't say more than what has already been said about BioShock before. It is always a joy to revisit Rapture.

October
Game 29: Resident Evil 5 - 39h (Xbox One)
#Resident Evil is not a good game, but really fun on co-op. My friend and I wanted something to do when we get overwhelmed by Overwatch. Fun co-op fun achievement hunting.

Game 30: Halo: Spartan Assault - 2h (Xbox One)
#Useless, not good Halo game but it was a good quick time killer when I didn't have a lot of time to play games.

Game 31: Call of Duty: Black Ops - 6h (Xbox One - BC)
#Enjoyable campaign for Call of Duty, needed something quick to play and it was backwards compatible.

Game 32: Left 4 Dead - 3h (Xbox One - BC)
#Needed a quick game, been years since I ran L4D. Still a fun game.

November
Game 33: Dishonored: Definitve Edition - 49h (Xbox One)
#Played to refresh my memory for Dishonored 2. Love this game.

Game 34: Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist - 22h (Xbox One)
#Fun game to play with friends a have a quick trip down memory lane for a show that I loved as a kid.

Game 01: Xenoblade Chronicles X
Wii U - 152 hours - Beaten 12/01/16 - ★★★★★
I was initially down on this because it was so vastly different to its predecessor, but once I got used to it I fell in love. The story is much more focused on the more fleshed out side quests, and it has a more slice of life anime feel to it than an epic, and well, I loved the side content enough to beat the game 100%.
The world of Mira was incredible to explore, and I'd play this game forever if the content kept up. Just a breathtaking and beautiful game.

Game 02: Axiom Verge
PS4 - 13 hours - Beaten 17/01/16 - ★★★★
This was a really fun Metroidvania and the one that comes closest to the overall feel of Super Metroid that I've played. Fun boss fights, great exploration, and some really cool powerups.

y2KgVyD.png

Game 03: Hatoful Boyfriend
PSV - 10-15 hours - Beaten 21/01/16 - ★★★
Visual novel with the best premise, I've always wanted to date pigeons. Once you get past the initial premise, the game actually has a really dark backstory to it and the finale is fantastic, I'd recommend it. Vita version was a bit glitchy though.

eZF18Qv.png

Game 04: Shovel Knight
PSV - 8 hours - Beaten 24/01/16 - ★★★★★
Damn, this game is great. I actually bought it when it came out on Wii U but never finished it for some reason, so bought it again in a recent PSN sale and restarted on Vita, and have now just beaten it with all collectables found. Just a really well made retro platformer in the vein of Mega Man and the like. It never gets too difficult which is something I like, it just stays fun throughout and never gets to the point of being frustrating.
I'll do the (free) DLC campaign at some point soon too.

f5GGoLe.png

Game 05: Katamari Damacy
PS2 (via PS3) - ~10 hours - Beaten 03/02/16 - ★★★★
This game was super fun and the soundtrack was fantastic. Really simple gameplay of just rolling around collecting stuff, but you need to strategise a bit about what path to take to reach your goal within the time limit.
I feel it could have used more maps (you visit the same places over and over again in different missions), and more objective variety, but overall I really enjoyed it and have a copy of the sequel ready to play later on.

Game 06: Life Is Strange
PS4 - 18 hours - Beaten 07/02/16 - ★★★★★
Oh man this game was hella awesome. It's a massive step forward in the whole 'point and click adventure' genre. Exploring the world, interacting with everything, talking to people, making choices, taking photos, it all worked so well, and I fell in love with everyone in Arcadia Bay, and Chloe is the best, best friend ever.
Also, I legit cried. I love this game. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to listen to the soundtrack because this had some great tunes in it.

Game 07: Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin
PS4 - 50 hours - Beaten 12/02/16 - ★★★★
My first experience with Dark Souls II.
Overall, it was a good game that I had a lot of fun with, but compared to its predecessors, it was a massive step back. The combat feels wonkier, the world isn't connected (and areas don't even fit together regardless), the bosses were boring and easy, and the lore was uninteresting.
But still, the core Souls gameplay is still there, so it was a worthwhile experience, and there was some nice areas in the game.
I still have the DLC areas to go, as well as NG+ and onwards, but I decided to list it here now as it'll be a slow burn between other games for the rest.

mBf4mvQ.png

Game 08: Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth
PS4 - 118 hours - Beaten 08/03/16 - ★★★★
There we go, another game that ate up nearly an entire month, but I have no regrets. Game was super fun and it rekindled my love of Digimon seeing I've ignored the franchise since I was a kid. Started rewatching the anime as well and am almost done with season 1.
Anyway, the game is really a really cool SMT-lite, raising Digimon is fun and satisfying and you can do it super quick with the right setup. Story was nothing to write home about but it got the job done and provided enough motivation. Went all the way to the platinum trophy and 242/242 Digimon.
Biggest disappointment is the shit-tier localisation, they clearly did not spend much money on it and some parts are almost incomprehensible, so here's hoping that Next Order gets a better one seeing this seems to have sold well.

mtwO5UT.png

Game 09: Rhythm Tengoku
GBA - ~10 hours - Beaten 09/03/16 - ★★★★
Had a couple hiccups starting this game, but once I got it going it was bliss. This is one of my favourite franchises right now, and each game is fantastic.
I've played the other two games already, and I'm not sure if it's just age, but this one felt the weakest. It didn't have as good music, or as fun games (though it had a few I loved, Night Walk is the best), but it gets a free pass for creating this franchise.
All ready for Megamix now!

Game 10: Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie
DS - 48 hours - Beaten 27/03/16 - ★★★★
My third Dragon Quest game after playing 4 and 5 on DS last year, and well, I think it was definitely the weakest of the 'trilogy'.
While 4 and 5 both had a really unique aspect that made them stand out, this game was really just a standard JRPG, which isn't a bad thing, but it means it wasn't really memorable. Overall I did enjoy my time with the game, though I was a little soured by the crazy difficulty spike of the final boss, I had to grind for around 8 hours which was no small feat.

QUBkXob.png

Game 11: Dark Souls II: Crown of the Sunken King
PS4 - 5.5 hours - Beaten 29/03/16 - ★★★★
Finally I decided it was time to go back and do the DLC areas of Dark Souls II before III releases.
The first was the one I found to be the weakest of the three, the bosses weren't very original (though still fun), and the level design wasn't as interesting as the latter releases.
Despite having yet another dragon boss, I found it really fun to fight, watching the dragon crash into pillars as it swooped at me and the like, was a breathtaking battle.
It was a really enjoyable experience, and better than the vast majority of the base game.

Game 12: Dark Souls II: Crown of the Old Iron King
PS4 - 7 hours - Beaten 31/03/16 - ★★★★
This one was phenomenal. It was interesting starting a castle/tower level at the top, and working your way to ground level, and the Fume Knight boss battle that awaited down there was glorious. I love the 1v1 swordsman fights in Souls, and his devastating attacks meant you had to dodge, hiding behind a shield does not work here.
The Alonne Knight was a similar fight, but well, he's extremely easy to beat by hiding behind a shield :p
The Iron Passage let the DLC down, swarms of enemies in front of a recycled boss made for an unrewarding experience.

X8mvbWH.png

Game 13: Dark Souls II: Crown of the Ivory King
PS4 - 7 hours - Beaten 05/04/16 - ★★★★
Ever so slightly behind Old Iron is the third release. The base area was fantastic, with two stunning boss battles, and exploring the area at first in a blizzard with various areas frozen, and again in the calm, with all paths open to you was rewarding, and the level design was masterclass, with paths interweaving and shortcuts opening all over the place.
What let this one down was again the 'challenge area' From decided to include. The Frigid Outskirts. I actually didn't find traversing the blizzard and fighting the reindeers as bad as I was lead to believe, but the boss was ridiculous. Recycling, not a boss from the base game, but a boss from this very own DLC is a baffling decision. And I ending up just quitting on it due to the sheer difficulty (and the fact it's optional of course).

Game 14: Steins;Gate
PSV - 41 hours - Beaten 12/04/16 - ★★★★★
This game was a ride and a half. Surpassed all expectations I had upon going in. Fantastic story, great twists, respects the intelligence of the audience, phenomenal OST, gorgeous art. Has everything going for it that a visual novel could, and it's made sure I'll pay attention to any future notable VN releases in the future.
Only minor gripes I have are that the pacing was off a bit (especially earlier on), the few instances of fan service seemed out of place with the serious story being delivered, and that the sequence to unlock the true ending is a bit obtuse to do without looking it up online.

Game 15: Dark Souls III
PS4 - 42 hours - Beaten 05/05/16 - ★★★★★
Another big game eating up all my time and making me fall behind.
But oh so worth it!
Played the game with a dexterity/pyromancy build and destroyed my foes with my flaming katana(s). The combat is a fantastic evolution from Dark Souls', with a faster pace, better controls, and plenty of QoL improvements (plus no useless stats!).
I was a little disappointed that the world wasn't interconnected like DS1, and instead is a pretty linear progression area to area (though the areas themselves are nicely designed), but I accept that they're two different games going for different things, and that's ok.
I think I'd overall put the game behind Dark 1, but above Demon's and Bloodborne, and well above Dark 2.
Still have an optional boss to go actually,
Nameless King
, but fuck him.
Patiently awaiting the DLC.

Game 16: Ratchet & Clank
PS4 - 20 hours - Beaten 25/05/16 - ★★★★
I had high hopes for this game when it was initially announced, and while I enjoyed it, I felt it felt very short of what it should have been.
Practically every change from the PS2 original (outside of the base gameplay) is a downgrade. The story has been butchered, characters have become jokes of themselves, worlds and weapons have been scrapped etc.
I think the main reason for that is the whole "game based on the movie based on the game" thing. They made a children's film based around the original game, so they removed asshole-Ratchet, added a band of merry heroes, changed the villain etc to help appeal to kids, and this game is based on that. Thankfully though the movie bombed while the game did well, so the inevitable R&C2 should be able to stand on its own and be more like the original trilogy again.
But yeah, other than that, the game looks gorgeous, plays well etc, so I'm really excited for the sequel to build on this foundation, now that the series has become a success again.

Game 17: Valkyria Chronicles
PS4 - 46 hours - Beaten 10/06/16 - ★★★★
Man, this game was great. The way the game was presented was really great. The SRPG map, that turns into a third person camera as you move the characters around, feels like a great step forward for the genre (cue someone telling me some game I've never heard of did it in the 90s).
The story was nothing to write home about but it had its moments. One scene in particular got me a little teary eyed.
I will say that the game balance was a little off, the maps were too large for the limited movement of most classes, so I relied upon my scouts way too much. And getting A-ranks really breaks it as the only requirement is the number of turns it takes, so buffing a scout and rushing the objective is almost always the best option. It's because of this that I'm really disappointed that we only got PSP sequels to the game, and not a big budget home console release to really fine tune the foundation. I'll try VC2 at some point though.
Going for the platinum nearly broke me though, I beat the story at 28 hours so the rest was just trophy farming.

Game 18: Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright
3DS - 25 hours - Beaten 26/06/16 - ★★★★
Alright, I'm going to say something that will upset the Fire Emblem fanbase. I played this game on normal/casual.
And had a blast! I played up until chapter 12 or so on hard/classic but all that led to was frustration, I'm just not good enough at these games. I much preferred just playing through the game, learning from my mistakes but not being permanently punished for them.
The game overall was pretty enjoyable, but the story was as mediocre as I expect from the series and the characters were mostly all bland. There was at least quite a few neat stage gimmicks which was better than Awakening's "defeat all enemies" 20 times.
My MVPs towards the end were my two snipers, Takumi and Setsuna, and my two falcon knights, Hinoka and Subaki.
I actually didn't manage to get anyone to S rank supports, so entirely missed the paralogue chapters and children. I'll uh, try harder at that in Conquest I suppose.

Game 19: Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE
Wii U - 81 hours - Beaten 22/07/16 - ★★★★
Well, this one sure surpassed my expectations.
Gameplay wise it's a pretty standard JRPG, you go through dungeons, the combat is turn based, you get new weapons, new skills, blah blah blah.
The game takes a page out of Persona's book though, with the game being set in modern day Tokyo, with the cast living two lives, one as entertainers, and one fighting the evil Mirages.
Then for the cross over part of it. TMS combat lifts heavily from SMT, it's a turn based system, and you have different damaging attacks, with enemies having weaknesses and resistances to exploit, then the very important buffs and debuffs, heals, status ailments etc.
Then from the Fire Emblem side, it's mainly just references, the allied Mirages (basically your Persona :p) are all Fire Emblem characters, as well as the boss fights being Fire Emblem villains. Then rather than using the SMT slash/strike etc for physical attacks, it uses the Fire Emblem weapon triangle of sword/spear/axe which is cool.
For a game based so heavily on the entertainment industry though, the music was really disappointing, the battle and dungeon music is all pretty forgettable, and a large amount of the songs in the game are pretty bland, but there were a few nice ones.
Overall yeah, I really liked it and if you like JRPGs you really should give it a go.

Game 20: Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma
PSV - 21 hours - Beaten 02/08/16 - ★★★
Well this game disappointed. Story was dumb and lacked a great twist that the previous two set expectations for, the returning characters were lacking, puzzles were easy, all the standout music was just returning tracks from previous entries. Such a shame.
I was actually enjoying it around the middle, I felt like everything was leading somewhere and all the pieces were being put in place for a big reveal, and then just nothing.

Game 21: Ape Escape 2
PS4 - 16 hours - Beaten 06/08/16 - ★★★★★
First time playing this since I was a kid and it was glorious. Such a charming platformer littered with wacky humour and a ton of references. Gadgets were fun, levels were entertaining, boss fights were great. Really happy I revisited this, and super excited for 3 to hit PS4 as I've never played it.

Game 22: Dark Cloud
PS4 - 26 hours - Beaten 15/08/16 - ★★★
I loved this game at times, but at others it just frustrated the hell out of me. Extremely janky. The camera is terrible, the combat is annoying, the thirst and weapon durability makes it very tedious, enemies annoyingly block attacks (which can take off massive amounts of durability, sometimes causing your weapon to break and having to reset).
But yeah other than that, it was a cool game with nice ideas, and I really loved the town building. Listening to all the townspeoples requests and moving everything around to accomodate was nice, and it had enough freedom that you can still design a nice looking area for yourself. Really excited to try out the sequel later, hopefully it's polished up some of the gameplay.

Game 23: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
3DS - 20 hours - Beaten 25/09/16 - ★★★★★
I really loved this game. Super charming world, quick pace getting from dungeon to dungeon, some nice puzzles, cool use of the wall merging mechanic, a neat new villain.
I enjoyed the freedom you have as well, you can tackle dungeons in whatever order you desire, which really made exploring the world worthwhile, as you never reached a dead end.
Definitely my favourite 2D Zelda, and I'd even rank it above some 3D ones.

Game 24: Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
3DS - 83 hours - Beaten 21/10/16 - ★★★★
Ooof, this ate up some time. Was excited for it after playing through 4-6 the past couple of years, and it met expectations. The job system worked really well, and the game was long enough that you could actually max out the jobs you wanted. The stories on each island were great, and gave the game an episodic feel, and the overall story was better than expected with a great final boss.
Only real downside was the amount of backtracking, you constantly have to go back and forth through caves and the like, and you have to explore every island twice (past and present).

Game 25: Dragon Warrior
GBC - 10 hours - Beaten 23/10/16 - ★★★★
And now back to the series roots! Played this one straight away as Builders is set in the same world, and I wanted to understand all the references (and having played ch 1 of Builders, it was worth the investment).
This was a really good, simple RPG. Charming enemies, simple combat system, and just exploring the world collecting what you need to take on the final boss. It is old school though, and 90% of the game is just grinding up levels, but being a short game it didn't feel too bad at all, and was almost relaxing.

Game 26: Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel
PS4 - 5.5 hours - Beaten 26/10/16 - ★★★★
This was a decent DLC. Only two bosses, one of which was hardly a boss, but the other was brutal. One of the toughest fights From has created to date. The setting was cool, a snowy forest landscape, and the enemies were neat (wolves hunt in packs!).
Felt fairly short though, and I think it needed a third boss fight, but overall I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the second DLC.

Game 27: Rhythm Paradise Megamix
3DS - 16 hours - Beaten 02/11/16 - ★★★★
Pretty conflicted on this game. The Rhythm Heaven gameplay is as great as it's ever been, and some of the new games are really great (Blue Bear <3), buuuuut, the story really drags it down and kills the pacing, navigating from game to game is a massive pain compared to the amazing simple menu of the previous titles, and there's way too much grinding for coins needed if you want to buy everything.
Weakest in the series easily, but I'd still recommend it.

Game 28: Dragon Quest Builders
PS4 - ~40 hours - Beaten 13/11/16 - ★★★★★
Well this game surpassed expectations. Who knew a JRPG with Minecraft mechanics would work so well. It was a lot of fun building your base up, completing quests for villagers, upgrading your equipment etc, and I even enjoyed the boss battles. I hated the way the game was broken up into chapters when I had to leave everything behind at the end of the first, but I grew to love it by the end, it's like four little RPG campaigns which was neat.
I actually went and got the platinum, which was fairly simple. Basically just have to get the challenges for each chapter done which is good enough gameplay that you should do anyway, then the cleanup at the end took under 30 mins.
Highly recommended and am excited to see how a sequel improves on it (and I don't even want multiplayer for this kind of game).

Game 29: Pokemon Sun
3DS - 100 hours - Beaten 10/12/16 - ★★★★★
Well this game sure was something. I can not remember the last game that made me super excited every day when I finished work and could go home to play it. Was probably another Pokemon game when I was a kid (replace work with school though).
The changes they made this generation completely reinvigorated the series, and in my opinion, gave birth to the very best entries in the 20 year history.
I had so much fun working my way through Alola, the trials were fun, the characters were great, the story was engaging, the music was phenomenal, and hunting down Pokemon and collecting all 301 in the Pokedex was thrilling.
This is a game that's going to stick with me and has made me excited for the future of this franchise on the Switch.

Game 30: The Last Guardian
PS4 - 13 hours - Beaten 15/12/16 - ★★★★★
After a rocky development I think everyone was a little wary about this title. It definitely did not disappoint. Trico is the most impressive AI character I have seen. The way it follows you around, listens to your commands, fights to protect you, and even sometimes shows you the way to proceed is just remarkable, and I felt a genuine bond with my feathered friend.
The games puzzles and platforming were also really great. The game respects your intelligence and lets you figure things out for yourself, and the jumps are all unscripted, there's no auto-platforming or weird magnetism going on here like some big AAA titles have.
Of course there were a few minor faults, though to me it was mainly with controlling the boy rather than anything to do with Trico, but those small blemishes were not enough to really effect the game in a meaningful way and give it a rating any lower than 'masterpiece'.

Claiming this. I have to FINISH 52 games? Might be hard, but I'm in for the challenge.

GAME 1: Until Dawn [9 hours?]
Loved it. I got it for $16 on Black Friday from Best Buy, and for that price it was 100% worth it. Might be a little dicier of a proposition at $60, but I think I would get a sequel at launch.

GAME 2: Life Is Strange [10 hours]
It's a Dontnod game; it has some weird moments and some awkward elements, but overall I really liked it. This studio does things that no other studio does, and they should be applauded for it.

GAME 3: Nuclear Throne [15 hours on PS4, probably 12 on Vita?]
Best roguelike I've ever played, hands down. The action is so tight and rewarding, and once you start climbing the learning curve you never want to look back. I got to the throne, which I'm considering "beating it," but there's definitely a lot more to go. Apparently there's a second boss on other playthroughs when you start looping? I'll go back to it.

GAME 4: New Super Mario Bros. 2 [11 hours?]
After finally getting my hands on a 3DS, my brother let me borrow this game. I haven't played a 2D Mario game seriously since NSMBWii, and even though this is a re-tread of a lot, there are few things better than 2D Mario.

GAME 5: Bastion [7 hours?]
Been wanting to play this one since it dropped on 360 years ago, and I'm glad it's finally come to platforms I can play it on. Played the first half on Vita, but I ended up doing the second half on PS4 because the loading times were too bad. Cross-save always seemed to put me one level behind, but it's whatever. I enjoyed the game a lot.

GAME 6: Volume [6-8 hours?]
Enjoyed this a LOT on PS4. I was planning to finish it on Vita but it ended up launching without Cross-Save... :/ Despite the game being great, it definitely has some technical issues: it crashed at the end of level 76/100 for me and corrupted my save, although deleting the corrupted save in Save Data Management helped without losing my level progress. Unfortunately, it reset my trophy progress, including the one that involves reading all of the notes in every level. Now that I'm done, I'm doubling back around to get that one (the last trophy I need for the Platinum), but I shouldn't need to do that. It also hard crashed my system and forced me to re-start it once, an obvious bummer. Other than that, the game rocks.

GAME 7: 80 Days [4 hours]
One of the best games I've played on my iPad. A combination visual novel and... Strategy game, I guess? You have to manage your resources, so I guess that's it? Role playing might be more apt, but you don't really level up, so I have no idea. Beautiful game with spectacular writing, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

GAME 8: Gone Home [2 hours]
Whether you think it's a "game" or not, this was one of the most engrossing interactive experiences I've ever had. I don't know how many things I can say about it that haven't been said, but it put me in the world of a time before my birth and in the mind of a person I will never be. Incredible.

After finishing the last two, it's a great way to clear a backlog. I have just bought a house though and now I am working more I may struggle to finish as many longer games. Though I am in the process of creating a little retro room so hope to do a lot more gaming on my older systems this year.

I also have a small challenge with my brother, we had to come up with 3 games for the other to play this year. The criteria were:

1. A game you wouldn't have played yourself but the other thinks you will like. My game is Just Cause 2. His is DMC Devil May Cry. (He is a huge Dante fan, but the non-emo one).
2. A game you have always wanted to play but haven't got around to it. My game was God Hand. His was Gun Valkyrie. (He has just played it - he hated it!)
3. An RPG. Mine was Xenoblade Chronicles. His is Ni No Kuni.

Only made it to the 20s last year. Really helped me take some games off my backlog, so I'm in again. Already close to beating Xenoblade and Undertale, so I'll have a decent start.

Claiming this. I'm in. Gonna limit my purchases this year, too. All about the backlog, baby!

Game 1: STEINS;GATE - Approximately 16 hours
What a crazy game. Really mixed feelings about this one - not in a bad way, all those feelings are positive - but god damn, it's fucking sad. Loved it to bits. Going to grind out the other endings soon, too, then watch the show. Can't wait for S;G0 now.

Claimed. I'll see how many I can do. I really loved seeing others do this last year, so I'll give it a shot. If anything it will be nice to see everything I played and my thoughts at the end of the year. Had a hard time thinking back to early 2015 when I was doing my top 10 list this past week, so this post should help. I decided to not include playtimes, since it's hard to really estimate how long I've played some games. All games are either beaten or I played long enough to where I feel it is equal to beating it. So 20-30 hours on a mulitplayer game might be considered finishing the game.

1. Tale from the Borderlands: Episode 2-PS4 : Since episodes seem to count as one game, this will be my first game completed for 2016. I bought TftB during one of the Christmas sales for $3, and so far I feel kind of getting it for so cheap. I played episode 1 before new years, so I won't count it on the list, but I very much enjoyed it. Episode 2 was great as well. By far the funniest Tell Tale game so far, some of the stuff with Rhys and Vaughn had me dying. Nice to see some of the previous characters from the Borderlands games beside Jack showing up in this one as well.

2. Rainbow Six Seige-PS4: This game just never clicked for me, and as a big Rainbox Six Vegas 1&2 fan, this was disappointing. Gameplay-wise it is perfectly fine, but everything else is just a mess imo. I still ended up playing a ton of terrorist hunt with my friend, who I played a ton of TH with on Vegas 1&2, but I was frustrated by so much of the game, we eventually moved on from it.I personally hated the operators. I much prefer building my own characters and picking what type of gun I wanted and what type of perks I had, again, much like the Vegas games. I get how they are built well for a balanced multiplayer approached, however, as someone that only wanted to play TH, this was frustrating.

3. Payday 2: Crimewave Edition: After our disappointment in Rainbow Six Seige, me and my friend still wanted to play a co-op shooter with a heist/TH type of style. Payday was a cheap option, and for what it was, we enjoyed it quite a bit. Eventually the missions do become pretty repetitive, but they are still fun. It has a lot of issues and doesn't look very good, but at least it was fun to play and was relatively cheap.

4. The Witness-PS4: This is by far my early game of the year. I honestly can't say how much I adore this game. It sucked me in like so few games do, to the point where I was thinking of those damn line puzzles even when I wasn't playing. I am also happy to say that this is the first game that I ever Platinum. The process of learning all the puzzles in each section was incredibly rewarding, and it felt great seeing all 11 lasers shooting toward the top of the mountain. The challenge, which I won't spoil, is one of the most enjoyable yet frustrating things I've ever done in my life playing games, however finally finishing it off and getting that Platinum was beyond amazing. I still plan to go back and finish any puzzles I missed, but I will mark it down as completed.

5. Firewatch-PS4: After a very interesting opening, I knew I would really enjoy my time with this game. Firewatch is a very pretty game, with a fun, bright, and simple art style not unlike The Witness. Walking around and climbing up rocks in this world is breathtaking, which is only made better by the fantastic story that plays throughout the game with the conversation between Henry and Delilah. There is some great story telling in this game and you really become invested in Henry's life. Delilah though is definitely the stand out character, with her quirky and sarcastic nature, she is a joy to talk to as Henry and you want nothing more than to talk to her all game long like he does. The overall story of the game is great, and I enjoy where it goes. The ending was a little bit of a let down however. I am not as upset about it as others, and I don't mind there not being a twist, but it just feels like a let down. I'm not going to go into spoiler, but I'll just say I wanted more for it, especially when it comes to Delilah. Still a wonderful story that deals with some tough and real grown up subjects. Great game overall and I'm happy I played it.

6. The Division-PS4: I enjoyed my time with The Division quite a bit. The combat was a lot of fun and I enjoyed all the gear throughout the game. The map was fantastic, and I especially loved the winter setting which isn't used enough in games in my opinion. The nighttime snow storms were always a favorite of mine, with the sight line being limited and the explosions looking extra awesome. The main story missions were for the most part pretty entertaining. The side missions were mostly filler, but since the combat is fun, I didn't mind doing them a lot. Probably my favorite part of the game was the homebase upgrades though. I loved filling out the base with different things and getting perks for them.

Multiplayer is such a key to this game, and I had a blast playing it with my friends. The Dark Zone is a cool concept, but I felt it could have used some type of mission structure. Going around killing AI enemies to get gear and then trying to extract it before another player kills you is fun but only for a little while. The gear was better but not enough to justify going in and shooting enemies without a mission. I'm glad it's there though, and hopefully they figure out more things to do with it in the future, whether that be DLC or a Division 2. Overall though, the game is pretty great. If you have a friend or two and want to play some fun combat then I definitely recommend it.

7. Hitman-PS4: While there will be more missions coming, I feel I have played enough for a review. I originally had no interest in this game, but after seeing how fun it looked while watching the GiantBomb quick looks of it, I knew I had to give it a try. Turns out, this game is a blast to play. I absolutely love how many option you have to complete these maps. You can play them however you want and all options are fun. You can be serious, sneaky, and precise, or you can go around throwing shit at peoples heads and killing everyone. I've tried old Hitman games in the past, and for whatever reason I could never get into them. The gameplay in this one is a ton of fun though and the genius way of selling it by maps is perfect for the game. I was able to buy in for a low price of $15, get a lot of quality content, and realize I want to keep playing more of this game, so I bought more. This isn't something I want every game to do, but in this case it works perfectly. The maps are big and detailed and the options you have adds even more to the replay value. I'm really surprised by this game, and I can't wait to try out all the future maps.

8. Uncharted 4-PS4: I don't even know how to express how much I love this game. Uncharted has been my favorite franchise and Naughty Dog is my favorite developer, so I was obviously looking forward to this game like crazy ever since they announced it. As a final Uncharted game for ND and maybe ever, this was absolutely perfect. I'm going to come back to this and write a lot more. Just wanted to add it to the list and praise this game for how perfect it is!

9. Overwatch - PS4: Overwatch to me is just pure fun. I've been over pvp multiplayer for a while now. I was sick of the COD type games and I could never get into MOBA's. So it was a bit surprising to me that when I tried the beta for Overwatch, that I liked it as much as I did. It's just so much fun though, and the amazing characters are all so unique that it stay relatively fresh, even after puting in 30-40 hours. Definitely my go to multiplayer game now.

10. Dark Souls 3 - After taking a break to play games like Uncharted and Overwatch, I finally returned and finished DS3. I'm a big Souls fan, I've played them all, and 3 is damn good. I think my final play time was about 43 hours or so, and I beat everything, including all the side quest. I liked the added storylines for different NPC's, even though I managed to mess up all of them, including letting Onion Knight die on his final boss fight because I couldnt figure out the simple trick to beating that boss. That frustration aside, this game is just so well made and I love everything about it. There is a reason why the Soulsborne games are among my favorite gaming series.

11. Paragon - I have never been a big moba guy, and I still wouldnt say I am. I tried out Paragon because it looked interesting but was also free, so that's a big part. To my surprise though, I did have a good time playing it. The matches were still too long, and there are things that could be better, but if I was to ever dive hard into a moba, this would probably be it. I really enjoyed the movement and actual control of the shooting. There is enough of a console shooter in the typical moba style that makes it feel more active and fun for me. I've passed level 10, so I've played a decent amount, but not a ton either, and I still feel like I want to play more, which is a good sign. They are obviously still developing the game, but I think they have something special there and it could turn into a hit moba for the people that might not be into the point and clicking of dota and league.

Finished 01/01/15
10 hours, True Pacifist

What an incredible ride.

I really wanted to finish this before the end of 2015, but a last minute family reunion got in the way... I didn't expect it to, but this was easily my game of the year.

I know there's presently an Internet backlash calling Undertale overrated; while I understand where some of this is coming from, I believe it has something to do with the fact that a lot of the really mind blowing stuff is packed into the end game. I mean, the first half is no slouch, but the things I saw in Undertale's last 5 hours will stick with me for a long while.

Also, absolutely fantastic soundtrack - in my top ten all time, so many great tunes.

Game 1 : Invisible Inc
played about 15h in a couple of days, really good!

Game 2 : Super Mario Maker
Got it for Christmas, played a whole bunch during the holidays. Made it on my top 10 just in time

I've already beaten more games this year than I had last year.

Currently Playing:

- Uncharted 1
- Forza Horizon 2
- Sunset Overdrive
- The Old Hunters
- Fallout 4

Beaten:

1. Bloodborne 1/4/2016: My GOTY 2015. This game was brilliant. The bosses all were challenging and interesting. When you beat one boss on your first try you would get this rush of adrenaline and kill the next one on your first go until you got to a more challenging boss. The feeling of linearity mixed with exploration was just superb, and made the levels feel fluid and complex. The gameplay was also a real spectacle here and it was insanely fluid. Great, great game here and one of my favorites ever. 9.5/10

2. Rise of the Tomb Raider 1/10/2016: I think this game has got to be one of the best Adventure games ever. Up until the very last part where it felt like "KILL! KILL! KILL!" I was completely enthralled. The story was on point, and the feeling of exploration and accomplishment after completing tombs was ace. I think this could be better than any of the Uncharted's but I really do think the ending was enough to say it was less than U2, and U3. 8/10

3. Pony Island 1/16/2016: Really interesting little game. I can appreciate some of the things done here and the puzzles were decent. The 2nd boss wasn't that good, and the first was okay if not a bit mediocre. I feel the puzzles were overused a bit and the depth of the actual Pony Island game fell flat. The third boss however was incredibly interesting and very "meta". It tricked me a bit, and I appreciated that. The very end was pretty damn bad where you had to just run and kill things. Went on for far too long. Overall, super short and sweet game that had some decent ideas and one idea that really elevated this above some others. 5.5/10

Game 1 - Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls (Vita)
Definitely not my favorite Danganronpa experience. This felt like it took me forever to get through even though the overall game itself isn't very long due to the short bursts I had to play in. I'm not sure how popular the side modes are but the lack of anything like school/island or the Monomi modes disappointed me quite a bit.

Game #2 - Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale (Vita)
File under: Average to bad games that Threads plays to completion because she doesn't love herself.

Game #3 - Mad Max (PS4)
This was my first Mad Max experience overall. I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I'm not a fan of most sandbox/open world games because most content just feels like filler but this wasn't too bad. I didn't finish everything but I enjoyed what I did get to. The upgrades were actually helpful/useful in this game unlike some I've played.

It's too bad about that ending though..

Game #4 - Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse (PS4)
Played this before getting around to 3 or 4, oops. This was more of the same really, if you've played a Broken Sword title you know what to expect. This was still pretty good though. Shears is one of my favorite NPCs in the series.

Game #5 - Game of Thrones (PS4)
Fantasy is not really my thing, no matter what form it comes in media wise. This game was no exception. I'm sure it was a fun ride for fans of the license but I had trouble getting truly invested. Not being as invested in this stopped me from overlooking some of the more noticeable flaws that I usually would in a game of this type. More than ever in a Telltale games I felt like my decisions were useless. Definitely my least favorite Telltale game I've played with The Walking Dead season 2.

Game #6 - Resident Evil Zero HD (PS4)
First time completing this even though I originally owned the Gamecube version. My opinion hasn't really changed. Easily the worst classic RE game. There's great atmosphere and music but it's like the game goes out of its way to be frustrating at any chance it gets. The changes to the item system are abysmal, making an item that you use multiple times across the whole game take up two of your already limited item spaces is one of the more unfortunate design moments in the series. Odds are unless you spoil yourself and/or use a guide you'll be doing a ton of backtracking either due to low inventory space or leaving behind important items. The enemy/boss design also leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe I'll enjoy this on further playthroughs as I'll know what I'm doing and they should pass by easier/faster.

Hopefully we'll see more of Billy in the series someday.

Game #7 - Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 (PS3)

Nothing special by any means but it was kind of an improvement on the original? The medal/high score system added an element of challenge (usually small but still) that was missing before. Still not a fan of the new design and had to turn down the voice sound.

Not sure if I was doing it wrong but there was a chase section with a dinosaur that was really janky. I kept getting caught and thrown around randomly and it took a few attempts to get through smoothly becasue the checkpoint dropped you right in the chase.

Not a bad way to spend an afternoon or something if you're really wanting a platformer. I'd rent or get it cheap though.

Game #8 - Snoopy's Grand Adventure (PS4)

Charming little platformer, especially as a fan of the license. I could definitely see it being something that overstays its welcome but thankfully it's pretty short with only some of the space levels really being annoying. I really liked the art style.

Game #9 - Lost Dimension (PS3)

A nice little strategy RPG. I'm not a huge fan of having the true ending locked behind potentially 2+ playthroughs depending on how the RNG goes but I got lucky and only needed to do a second playthrough. It's very easy to tip the scales heavily in your favor with a decent skill/gift build which will speed things up even more. About halfway through my second playthrough I was able to beat most missions in 2, sometimes 3 turns tops thanks to the Daydream and Teleport Allies gifts. I wish there was a bit more happening story and/or gameplay wise as it gets a bit repetitive but if you're a fan of the genre it's worth a look.

Game #10 - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered (PS4)

This one didn't hold up so well. I thought of it as my favorite for awhile but a lot of issues stuck out to me this time. I never noticed as much back on PS3 (maybe it was the same) but the platforming felt really janky, at times Nate would just jump off in a random direction when trying to navigate around ledges. Swinging back and forth on ropes also felt more complicated than necessary. The jet ski sections were miserable experiences too. At least the combat wasn't a painful experience like 3 in parts?

I complained a lot above but the game is still okay and not a bad way to spend some time for at least one playthrough. I wouldn't recommend playing on Hard or Crushing personally though.

I AM NOT ON THE FIRST PAGE, I HAVE ALREADY FAILED IN MY CHALLENGE DUTIES.

2015: 59 games (list, wrap-up)
2014: 63 games (1, 2, 3, wrap-up)

COMPLETED
1. Yakuza 4 (PS3, 2011) - 15:39 (+14:40 in 2015) - COMPLETED January 3
Four men from the Kamurocho underground are haunted by a three-decade-old mob hit, and the result is one of the best crime dramas you'll ever play. (full post)

2. Tearaway Unfolded (PS4, 2015) - 6:50 (+4:17 in 2015) - COMPLETED January 5
It's a little too long compared to the first game, and not all the new elements work. But Tearaway Unfolded has a lot of heart, and that's all that really matters. (full post)

3. Amplitude (PS4, 2016) - 2:48 - COMPLETED January 7
A lovely rhythm game with tight mechanics and a good soundtrack, marred by some odd mechanics that try to extend a campaign that ends all too soon. (full post)

4. Shadow Complex Remastered (PC, 2015) - 7:23 - COMPLETED January 9
Why did I wait so long to finish this? It's a fantastic action platformer. (full post)

5. Read Only Memories (PC, 2015) - 4:01 (+2:38 in 2015) - COMPLETED January 10
A futuristic cyberpunk adventure that isn't all dark skies, rain-soaked streets and replicants. It's actually a light-hearted transhumanism romp! (full post)

6. Hitman Go (Android, 2014) - 7:29 (+2:25 in 2015) - COMPLETED January 14
A neat puzzle game wearing an assassin's outfit. Who happens to be wearing a guard outfit. Who happens to... you get the idea. (full post)

7. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (PC, 2014) - 28:52 - COMPLETED January 20
It's more Borderlands, which isn't a bad thing, but the formula needs major rethinking before they make another one of these. (full post)

8. You Must Build a Boat (PC, 2015) - 9:39 - COMPLETED January 24
Like 10,000,000, but with more things to upgrade and more ways to get screwed in a dungeon. Figuratively speaking, I mean. (full post)

9. Lara Croft Go (Android, 2015) - 7:09 - COMPLETED January 24
Did you like Hitman Go? Do you like Tomb Raider? If you said yes, this is the game for you. (full post)

10. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (3DS, 2014) - 16:26 (+2:02 in 2015) - COMPLETED January 27
The granddaddy of trial games, and only occasionally shows its age. (full post)

11. 80 Days (Android, 2014) - 4:45 - COMPLETED January 29
You'd be hard-pressed to find a finer choose-your-own-adventure experience. (full post)

12. The Witness (PC, 2016) - 18:47 - COMPLETED January 31
An early contender for game of the year. Just play it. (full post)

13. Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak (PC, 2016) - 12:18 - COMPLETED February 3
Uneven difficulty and a few clunky mechanics bring it down some, but Deserts of Kharak does justice to the Homeworld name. (full post)

14. ilomilo (360, 2010) - 6:06 - COMPLETED February 6
A cute, if somewhat shallow, puzzle game. (full post)

15. Empire TV Tycoon (PC, 2015) - 5:15 - COMPLETED February 7
Running your own TV station is hectic but fun. A tycoon game with great fundamentals. (full post)

16. Me & My Katamari (PSP, 2006) - 5:16 - COMPLETED February 8
Of all the Katamari sequels, this is the one that feels the most like a retread, for good and for ill. (full post)

17. Kami (Android, 2013) - 3:06 - COMPLETED February 9
A gorgeous and entrancing puzzle game that ends too quickly. (full post)

18. Firewatch (PC, 2016) - 3:51 - COMPLETED February 10
An intriguing short story about how to cope with middle age. Kind of. Sort of. Also, pretty trees. (full post)

19. Bird Assassin (PC, 2011) - 1:04 - COMPLETED February 12
Hope you like hunting birds with a minigun, because that's basically all this game is. Except you have to earn the minigun. It doesn't take very long. (full post)

20. Cities in Motion 2 (PC, 2013) - 23:59 (+6:52 in 2013/2014) - COMPLETED February 18
As transit system simulators go, Cities in Motion 2 is one of the best, provided you can deal with its steep learning curve and the ability to use essentially the same strategy over and over. (full post)

21. Darkspore (PC, 2011) - 16:30 - COMPLETED February 24
It's not a bad Diablo clone, and it has some interesting ideas. It was worth playing once, and unfortunately I probably won't be able to play it ever again after next week. (full post)

22. Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright (3DS, 2016) - 52:14 - COMPLETED March 18
Birthright is basically more of Fire Emblem Awakening, and that's a good thing. (full post)

23. SuperHot (PC, 2016) - 2:27 - COMPLETED March 19
Hi friend. You have to check out this game. It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years. [ENTER] (full post)

24. Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest (3DS, 2016) - 51:21 - COMPLETED March 27
Conquest is its own game in a lot of ways, and would probably benefit from distancing itself from Birthright even further. Very much Birthright's equal, maybe even my slight favourite. (full post)

25. Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation (3DS, 2016) - 37:16 - COMPLETED April 5
While it's still a good game worthy of the trilogy, Revelation is in some ways the least essential of the Fire Emblem Fates games. (full post)

26. Lyne (Android, 2014) - 17:37 - COMPLETED April 5
The best kind of mobile puzzle game: quietly engrossing, doesn't kill your battery, bite-sized puzzles that nevertheless take a lot of thought. (full post)

27. The Room (Android, 2013) - 2:29 - COMPLETED April 9
An intricate puzzle game of elaborately detailed lock boxes designed like the secret passages of imaginary castles. Recommended. (full post)

28. Quantum Break (XB1, 2016) - 12:37 - COMPLETED April 14
Press LB to declare this game great. Press RB to declare this game a hot mess. (full post)

29. Aegis of Earth: Protonovus Assault (PS4, 2016) - 30:01 - COMPLETED April 18
A fun and unique take on tower defense that unfortunately grows dull well before the finish line. (full post)

30. Battlestations: Midway (PC, 2007) - 7:54 - COMPLETED April 19
Interesting blend of boat/airplane simulator and real-time strategy, but feels a little too awkward to really get either right. (full post)

31. LOUD on Planet X (PC, 2016) - 2:24 - COMPLETED April 20
Don't play this on PC, but do play this if you want a rhythm game shooter with Chvrches and HEALTH in it. (full post)

32. Ratchet & Clank (PS4, 2016) - 12:16 - COMPLETED April 22
A fantastic return to form for the Lombax-robot duo. (full post)

33. The Room Two (Android, 2014) - 3:25 - COMPLETED April 22
Everything you'd expect from a sequel to The Room--slightly better looking, slightly longer, still very good. (full post)

34. Project Gotham Racing 4 (360, 2007) - 16:56 - COMPLETED May 1
More evidence for why Bizarre Creations' demise was premature. (full post)

35. Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty (PS3, 2008) - 3:09 - COMPLETED May 3
Not the best Ratchet & Clank, but a decent pint-sized outing nonetheless. (full post)

36. Forza Motorsport 6: Apex (PC BETA, 2016) - 3:14 - COMPLETED May 8
The Forza gameplay engine makes the leap to PC largely intact, but stripped of features and content. Still, it's free, so how can you complain? (full post)

37. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4, 2016) - 18:14 - COMPLETED May 17
If this is how the Uncharted series ends, it's a fine way to go. (full post)

38. Overwatch (PC, 2016) - 17:10 and counting - CONTINUING May 28
I never thought I'd love another multiplayer shooter. I assumed I was too old, too bad to compete. I was wrong. (full post)

39. Battlefield: Hardline (PC, 2015) - 11:14 - COMPLETED May 29
As Cops and Robbers: The Game, Hardline works, assuming your idea of Cops and Robbers is sneaking up on robbers until you get spotted, and then shooting them all with high-powered rifles. (full post)

40. Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book (PS4, 2016) - 46:59 - COMPLETED July 10
More than a month (and many many hours of Overwatch) later, I've finally finished another game. Sophie is a fine return to form for the Atelier series after the missteps of Shallie. (full post)

41. Ys: Memories of Celceta (Vita, 2013) - 34:02 - COMPLETED July 10
Yep, it's a Ys game. A pretty good one, at that. (full post)

42. Pokemon GO (Android, 2016) - 26:47 - CONTINUING July 20
GOTTA CATCH 'EM A--server down--LL! (full post)

43. VA-11 HALL-A (PC, 2016) - 8:10 - COMPLETED August 8
Mixed drinks. Changed lives. Made rent. (full post)

44. No Man's Sky (PC, 2016) - 64:46 - COMPLETED? September 4
A notorious game, now. Full of promise, but also disappointment. Not without its merits, though. (full post)

45. Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X (PS4, 2016) - 9:54 - COMPLETED September 9
My favourite Hatsune Miku game to date. (full post)

46. Doom (PC, 2016) - 16:35 - COMPLETED September 10
The second id revival project that wildly exceeds expectations, and early candidate for best first-person shooter campaign of the year. (full post)

47. The Tomorrow Children (PS4, 2016) - 17:54 - CONTINUING September 30
Makes me oddly nostalgic for another obscure but unique game that not a lot of people played. Glad to see some of that game's spirit living on here. (full post)

48. Fractal: Make Blooms Not War (Android, 2013) - 5:12 - COMPLETED October 8
A neat puzzle game that looks great, but maybe a bit too chaotic in campaign mode. (full post)

49. Rebel Galaxy (PC, 2015) - 26:59 - COMPLETED October 10
A fantastic spaceship-themed RPG with a hint of Firefly, but stretched too thin for its own good. (full post)

50. Civilization VI (PC, 2016) - 10:27 - CONTINUING October 22
As far as I'm concerned, Civilization VI is a return to form. Just, y'know, fix the crash issues please? (full post)

51. Gears of War 4 (XB1, 2016) - 9:19 - COMPLETED October 23
It's a pretty decent Gears of War game, but I wonder if maybe Gears of War games just aren't for me. (full post)

52. Flame Over (PC, 2015) - 13:14 - COMPLETED October 25
A really fun--and really difficult--firefighting roguelike. A unique premise with nail-biting gameplay to back it up. (full post)

OVERTIME
53. Watch Dogs 2 (PS4, 2016) - 38:34 - COMPLETED December 10
Forget the first Watch Dogs existed; like Assassin's Creed 2, Watch Dogs 2 makes the franchise its own. It's also a weird game to play after the year we've had. (full post)

54. Titanfall 2 (PC, 2016) - 6:06 - COMPLETED December 11
It'll be very hard to pick a winner between Doom and Titanfall 2 for most entertaining shooter campaign of the year. (full post)

55. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (Wii U, 2016) - 64:43 - COMPLETED December 18
Not quite a Shin Megami Tensei game, and not quite a Fire Emblem game, but something altogether different. A sweet and sometimes goofy JRPG about making it in showbiz and fighting mirages at the same time. (full post)

56. Homefront: The Revolution (PC, 2016) - 17:33 - COMPLETED December 28
Surprisingly not awful. But also, much less surprisingly, not great either. If you can ignore the awful story, it's pretty decent. (full post)

GAME 1. Child of Light - Jan 3 , 24 hours - Such a beautiful game - recommend for everyone. Its one of the most amazing art styles blended into a rhyming RPG. I wish it was longer but so good

GAME 2. Super Mario Maker - Jan 3 - this is one of the best things nintendo has done. Amazing game

GAME 3. Ark Survival Evolved - Jan 3 - game has huge potential but I hate restarting characters if i change a server but I only play with my brother

GAME 4. Boom Beach - I prefer this vs clash of clans

GAME 5. Fantasy War Tactics - play everyday

GAME 6. Brave Frontier - fun mobile RPG game

Game 7. Valiant Hearts: The Great War - January 17 - 9 hrs - i love WW games and this is of the few that are set in WW1. Oh wow that ending got me. Such a beautiful game

Game 8. Batman Arkham Knight DLC and Expansion - Jan 17, 10 hours on DLC - not bad DLC but wait for a sale - infamy was good DLC

Game 9. The Banner Saga - Feb 6 - this SRPG is amazing. If you love RPG and turn based this is a must

Game 13. Chess With Friends - simple but fun

Game 14. Quantum Break

I did 37 last year without trying so will have a go this year. *claimed*

I'm kind of a trophy hunter that likes RPGs so this could be tough.

5/52

1: Toukiden Kiwami - (Jan 6, 10 hours, 125 in 2015)
2: Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India - (Jan 15, around 5 hours)
3: Ether One - (Jan 18, around 10 hours)
4: Banner Saga - (Jan 23, around 10 hours)
5: Until Dawn - (Jan 28, around 11 hours)
6: Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel - (Feb 16, 110 hours)
7: Firewatch - (Feb 19, 4 hours)

I beat 65 games last year, and more the year before, so I'll try this. However, my time for gaming has declined a bit.

73/52

1. Halo 5: Guardians: I've completed the campaign, and also played a lot of multiplayer. Competitively, this is my favourite Halo game. However, the campaign left a lot to be desired.

2. Entwined: This one had been on my to play list for a while. Overall, it was merely okay. Too much frustration.

3. Actual Sunlight: An interesting game that tackles the tough subject of depression and does so well.

4. Uncharted: Golden Abyss: I slowly played through this one. It's my least favourite Uncharted game, but it's still pretty good, especially for the Vita.

5. Need for Speed: Most Wanted - A Criterion Game: I wasn't a big fan of this game when I first played it on consoles. However, I got into it on the Vita and beat it without much trouble. It was much shorter than expected.

6. Emily is Away: A strange game.

7. The Plan: The shortest game I've ever played. It's visually impressive, though.

8. Depression Quest: This is another game that tackles the tough subject of depression well. I thought a lot of it.

9. AIPD: A decent twin-stick shooter.

10. Oxenfree: A standout downloadable game that, despite having some issues, stands above a lot of others.

11. Gemini: Heroes Reborn: A better than expected first-person game. I enjoyed it, despite not being a Heroes fan. It's nothing special, though.

12. LEGO Marvel's Avengers: Just another bland LEGO game. Too many puzzles, not enough variety.

13. Unravel: A beautiful, heartfelt and standout game. Visually stunning.

14. Assassin's Creed: Syndicate (replay): My second time playing through this game. I liked it more the second time around, but skipped the cutscenes because I'd already seen them. It's a very solid AC game.

15. Dying Light: The Following: A rather good expansion to an already quality game.

16. Layers of Fear: I'm still not exactly sure of what to think of this game. It has its moments, for sure, and succeeds in certain areas. It also has its fair share of problems, though.

17. Far Cry: Primal: I came close to 100%-ing this game. It was really good. I'm a big Far Cry fan, though.

18. Tiny Troopers: Joint Ops: A decent, but unspectacular and easy to forget about twin stick shooter.

19. Amplitude (2015): As a fan of the original games (Frequency and Amplitude for PS2), I found the bland story and lack of interesting songs to be really disappointing this time around. I had higher hopes for it.

20. Gone Home: Console Edition: I'd already beaten this on PC, but decided to give the console version a chance and played through it a few times. It's still a decent game, but the ending is so anticlimactic.

21. Cel Damage HD: I missed this when I was younger and it was on Xbox and GameCube. I should have just forgotten about it, though, because this remaster is pretty shitty.

22. Shantae and the Pirate's Curse: My first Shantae game, and I loved it.

23. MagNets: Fully Charged: A not-so-fun 3D action game.

24. Kholat: I had high hopes for this one given its subject matter and inspiration, but it was a boring exercise in getting lost, not to mention frustration.

25. Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure: A fun, quirky and unique indie game that deserves attention.

26. Quantum Break: It's not as good as Alan Wake, but it's still a rather good game that also deserves attention. I hope more people will give it a chance. That said, it's more of a movie than a game.

27. Torchlight II: I'd been wanting to play this for quite a while, and finally got around to it. I loved the first one, and also liked this. Maybe not as much, though. It didn't take a big enough step forward.

28. Stories: The Path of Destinies: An interesting take on its genre, using a choose-your-own-adventure motif. I liked it, although it was a bit basic in certain ways.

29. Star Fox Zero: Shitty controls and a disappointing campaign left me feel wanting.

30. KOI: Relaxing, but boring and ultimately forgettable.

31. LOUD on Planet X: A neat take on the rhythm genre. I will go back to it. The music can be really good.

32. Letter Quest Remastered: A solid mobile to console port of a decent, letter-based RPG.

33. Masquerade: Baubles of Doom: A crappy beat-em up with lots of issues.

34. Coffin Dodgers: Awful. Technical problems and a lack of polish make this one to pass on without a second thought.

35. Superhot: I didn't like this one as much as some, but it's still a really interesting and good game in my books. It takes an old genre and puts a unique spin on it.

36. The Park: Good while it lasted, but ultimately too predictable.

37. The Walking Dead: Michonne - A Telltale Miniseries: Doesn't stand up to Telltale's core The Walking Dead games, but it's short and decent.

38. DOOM: It can get a bit too repetitive, but it's otherwise really good.

39. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan: Platinum really shat the bed with this one.

40. Fragments of Him: It can be really boring and plodding, but it still exists as an interesting take on the human condition. It helped me with my grief.

41. Hard Reset Redux: Decent, but unspectacular. I should have played it before DOOM.

42. Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition: It's just another fighting game. There's nothing special about it. It's not bad, though.

43. Among the Sleep: I had high hopes for this one, but even though you're supposed to be a toddler, it feels like you're a little person. How can a toddler lift boxes? The game, itself, was quite disappointing and rather boring overall.

44. Deadlight: Director's Cut: I'd played through the original version before. This one is an improvement, but not a major one. The game is decent overall.

45. Mirror's Edge Catalyst: Since I wasn't much of a fan of the first one (which got quite tedious after a while and had platforming problems), I didn't know what to expect from this sequel. But, I ended up enjoying it more than I'd figured I would. It still felt too short, and lacked variety, though, with an open world that felt lacking.

46. Costume Quest: This was a really fun little game.

47. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Definitely one of the better LEGO games. It's still a LEGO game, though.

48. Dead Island Retro Revenge: Surprisingly good. It's tough, but quite fair, and is one of the better endless runners I've played. I never thought I'd be able to beat it because of its difficulty.

49. Moon Hunters: Short, but interesting. A strange, but good game.

50. Gone Home: Console Edition (PS4): It didn't take long to beat this one again. Plus, it was free. I'm now sick of Gone Home. This is the third version I've completed.

51. DeathSpank: Although it drags a bit, this is a really fun, humorous and standout game.

52. The Stanley Parable: Unique and interesting. I'd watched a friend play it before, but hadn't played it myself. I got two of the endings, but I've seen others.

53. Moirai: An interesting social experience, and an okay game for what it is. Very, very short and basic.

54. DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue: I don't know if I like it more than the original, but this is another really good game from a great series. I had a blast with it, and now I'm in withdrawal, because I beat the third game at launch.

55. Ben-Hur: A short, and quite garbage, tie-in game. It was free, though.

56. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided: A decent game, but not the masterpiece I was hoping for or expecting. It's solid, but a definite step backwards.

57. Obliteracers: A decent enough party 'racer,' but not good for single players.

58. Ghostbusters (2016): Blech. This turd can't get back to the library soon enough.

59. Hue: I don't like the puzzle genre all that much, but this game is an exception. It's a smart and good game that doesn't overstay its welcome.

60. The Baconing: I'd played through this when it first launched, but wanted to do so again. I've played through all three DeathSpank games this summer, and enjoyed each one quite a bit. I truly wish they'd make more. This one was the worst of the three, though, but not by a big margin.

61. Dear Esther: I'd never played this before. It didn't take long, and the story was kind of predictable, but there's something hauntingly beautiful about it.

62. Virginia: What did I just play? (Not a bad thing.)

63. Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas: A Zelda rip-off through and through, but a rather solid one nonetheless.

64. Firewatch: A really pretty game, which had a good hook and some interesting mechanics. The ending was disappointing, though.

65. Firewatch (Xbox One): A better version of the game.

66. Manual Samuel: Frustrating and not so fun.

67. Uncharted 4: Great. Visceral. Fun. One of the GOTYs.

68. Mafia III: Buggy and really repetitive, but it had a good story and had its moments.

69. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition: A very solid and impressive remaster. It was fun to go back to it.

70. Battlefield 1: I haven't been much of a fan of this series since Bad Company, which I beat twice. This campaign had its moments, but the gameplay left something to be desired in several aspects.

71. Titanfall 2: A very solid campaign and decent multiplayer. It's short and takes some time to build up, but has some awesome final sections.

72. Dishonored 2: Fantastic game. A Game of the Year/Generation contender.

73. Watch_Dogs 2: A very big step forward from the first game.

I'll have the dishonor of reporting my first game beat: Life is Strange. Had all the eps beat before midnight, polished off the last one now. No spoilers: I overall really liked the game, especially the slower parts. I didn't ever really click with the overall gameplay however, I really disliked talking to people or investigating anything outside of my main objective, simply because I felt (false)pressure to move forward. SO I feel like I missed a bulk of the content.

full 2016 post
btw I know the OP said I could list these episodes separately, but I'm fortunate enough to have time to play 52 games without stretching, so I'd rather do it this way.

Claimed.

Pretty much zero chance I'll come anywhere near 52, but I'd like to be more diligent in recording my completed games this year, and this is a good incentive.

I just finished Monster World IV tonight, so I guess that's #1 for me.

Game 1: Monster World IV - 30 minutes played in 2016, several hours in 2015
I picked up the Monster World collection on XBLA a while back when I was looking for action-platformers for inspiration. I'd never played MW4 before, but it hooked me right from the start. Reminds me in parts of Super Adventure Island 2. Good classic 90s action-platformer fun.

Game 2: The Witness - too many hours played
I'm still working on 100%ing this one, but I did finish a single playthrough, so I'm calling it. [Eventually 100%'d it. Had to look up a walkthrough for two things.]

Game 3: Firewatch - probably like four hours played
A nice short narrative-forward change of pace after The Witness. Not even remotely what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it.

Game 4: Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin - 30 hours played
Skipped the DLC because DS3 is just around the corner. I had played the original on 360, so this was an interesting replay.

Game 5: ANATOMY - Under an hour
Short, stylish, and spooky. A really great indie horror game that is unsettling without leaning on cheap jump scares.

Game 6: DOOM - Maybe 12 hours?
Easily my second favorite game of 2016 after The Witness. Blown away by how good this was.

Game 7: Silent Hill - 6h47m
I've played every other main series Silent Hill game. Never had a chance to play this one until it hit PSN. Having played Shattered Memories, I was surprised how much that one deviated from this one, and also how closely the movie followed this one.

Game 8: Until Dawn - guessing 8 hours ish?
Reminded me a lot of Telltale games, but without the occasional breaks to solve puzzles. Constant tension, lots of QTEs, lots of chances to make mistakes, but no total failure cases (that I encountered, at least). Really good horror fiction via games.

Game 9: Mu Cartographer - 2 hours
Odd, unique, fascinating indie title. I think I finished it. I found something that felt like a conclusion, anyway.

Game 10: Dark Souls III - 31:45
I dropped this one for several weeks after getting to the final boss. Finally came back to it and killed him. Still a bunch of optional content left, but whatever.

Game 11: The Park - 78 minutes
A short, slightly maudlin horror/drama walking simulator with some decent jumpscares and shades of PT in its latter half.

Game 12: Virginia - like 1:45 maybe
Another walking simulator. Very filmic. Very short. I liked it. Expect many won't. How am I only up to twelve games?

Game 13: Awkward Dimensions Redux - 52 minutes
A short walking simulator, which seems to be all I have time for anymore. A little bit too much cringey teen angst at times, but I can appreciate the earnestness behind it.

Game 14: Islands: Non-Places - about an hour
Wasn't sure I was gonna love this one, but I did. As much a surrealist art piece as a game. Really terrific audio and visual design.

Game 15: BioShock Remastered - ?? hours
This is probably like the fourth or fifth time I've played BioShock. The remaster is good. Don't have the patience to 100% it this time, though.

Game 16: Gone Home - probably an hour this time
Second time I've played it. The house is bigger than I remember. The story is still good.

Game 17: The Old City: Leviathan - 69 minutes (nice)
Yet another walking simulator. Didn't really grab me. Slow walk speed, levels that somehow managed to both be linear and have unclear goals, and too much vague, metaphorical talking around what the game was supposed to be about and never really getting to the substance of it.

Game 18: BioShock 2 Remastered - ?? hours
This is the third time I've played BioShock 2, and large parts of it still seem fresh and new to me. I guess I haven't committed it to memory as much as the first. I'll be playing through Minerva's Den soon and counting it as a separate game.

Game 19: BioShock 2: Minerva's Den Remastered - four or five hours
Also the third time I've played this. Other than the story beats, I remembered very little of it. It good.

Game 20: Frog Fractions 2 - 8 hours
Had to look up hints for a couple things near the very end, but otherwise I was totally engrossed by this.

Completed

Life is Strange
Start Date: 12/26/2015
Finished: 1/3/2016
Thoroughly unimpressed with Episode 1, I fell in love with both Maxine and Chloe through episodes 2, 3 and 4. When Episode 5 failed to deliver on the emotional investment I'd developed, largely due to a rats nest of unfocused narrative design and unclear ending goals from the developer, I was near heartbroken. I was near to writing off the entire series after the ending. Ultimately I was wholly unfulfilled by the experience as a result, but that doesn't change how meaningful Dontnod's efforts in character building and theme were throughout the series.

Ori and the Blind Forest
Start Date: 1/3/2016
Finish Date: 1/3/2016
Best Metroidvania of 2015 by far, with inspired visuals and solid little story that reminded me of various fairy tales and folklore. Platforming and combat is very smooth, but a bit flighty. Where many Metroidvanias tend to require larger amounts of precision and coordination as the game progresses, Ori felt rather the opposite. The various power-ups and methods of traversal allowed me to just run and jump as I please, and the huge pool of health made me fear very little. Still, for what it was Ori was excellent. Never a moment where I was disappointed throughout the entire game.

Oxenfree
Start Date: 1/14/2016
Finish Date: 1/21/2016

Move or Die
Start Date: 1/16/2016

Notes: I have officially bought everything in store, as well all of the remodels. I will continue playing in an attempt to get all of the mementos, but am considering the game "complete" just for the sake of my sanity. KITTIES.

Games I managed to play that are not Team Fortress 2 or CS:GO!

Game 1: Wolfenstein: The New Order - 7 hours on "I am Death Incarnate" difficulty
Till Last Mission
Wyatt Timeline

System Played On: Xbox One/PC
System Beat On: PC
The game is good, I started playing it earlier this year, stopped, sold it, bought it on steam during a sale and then beat it. Only got two complaints though.
1. might've been on my end during the last few missions I was getting error messages after every load and cutscene, also the depth of field was wonking out so bad that I couldn't see 10 ft. infront of B.J.'s hulking frame.
2. Shotgun Shrapnel is by far the most annoying thing in the world. Things are basically frag grenades, they do 20 damage to you (5 hits and you die) on Death Incarnate. They can bounce around walls and go through most cover. The dudes using them go down in 2 clips of the assault rifle and overall they aren't fun to fight.
These two problems killed me so much during the final 3 missions that I bitched out and dropped the difficulty down to baby mode to beat the game.
Outside of those two issues (1 of which being most likely my fault for not noticing easier methods of killing) this game was fucking good.
Verdict: I give it 4 Mechahitlers out of John Carmack's Twitter account

Game #1: Azure Striker Gunvolt - 6/10
a quick megaman-lite game from inti that does what it does alright, but falls short in level design and meaningful content. the bad PC port also didnt help it much. baffling end to the story, id be on the fence about recommending this to anybody

Game #2: Crypt of the Necrodancer - 8/10
im marking this game as completed as i am going to continue coming back to it sporadically and im making slow as fuck progress at actually getting farther. unique as fuck and forces quick thinking to get around enemy patterns

Game #3: The Talos Principle - 7/10
a game that flew under my radar mainly because of the stupid banner image that doesnt represent the game at all. a great podcast game, just casually working out puzzles whenever i could. talking to the AI was really intriguing, though i was not a fan of the mandatory star collecting for the true ending. theyre almost all incredibly obtuse. would recommend to people who need a chill out game.

Game #4: Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen - 8/10
if i had to compare it to a much inferior game, this is everything skyrim isnt. the combat and all the systems under it are incredibly well thought out, the dungeons are mazes and the areas beautiful, and i really do never want to stop adventuring. the only downsides exist in the story (the lover shit is dumb), and i didnt mean to end the game before i did, thus missing the entire post game and my progress. this is the perfect outline to a sequel, and if they could ever get the chance to improve on this beautiful concept ill get in line day one. big rec, everyone should support it.

Game #5: Metroid Fusion - 7/10
its no super for sure, but fusion does do enough different with its formula that i can respect it. SA-X and all of the set pieces in this game are genuinely fantastic, and the movement feels as good as ever. unfortunetly, lackluster boss fights and a linear "go here" focus hindered it. you cant put down a great metroid thats this short though, so i would recommend everyone take an afternoon out of their lives to play it.

My 2015 completed games

1 - Year Walk - PC
Really nice small puzzle game similar in ways to The Room, puzzles were mostly solvable with logic except a couple really hard obtuse ones, highly recommended.
2 - Detective Grimoire - PC
Phoenix Wright type of game, the puzzles are really easy but the game is super charming and the voice acting and game in general is amazing, highly recommended.

Great point and click adventure game, really charming and mostly solvable except a couple a little annoying puzzles, highly recommended.
4 - Dark Matter - PC
Sci-fi/Horror Metroidvania, it's a nice little game with multiple flaws, the game is really buggy, controller support is not very good and the ending is really abrupt, overall a very rough gem that could have been much better, recommended if you can cope with the issues.

Started this back in 2014 when it came out, got distracted by WoW expac. Played it for around 30 hours then, restarted since my save got deleted. Love the new trails options they make a huge difference on playing area's that you would out level too quickly before.

Game 1: Ultimate NES Remix - 6h
This game taught me I am really terrible at classic games. I liked the variety, but some missions had me stuck for longer then i felt they should. All in all, it was worth the play through

Game 2: Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call - 12h
I enjoyed the upgrades from the original. The quest mode is fun, and the game play is still great.

Game 3: New Super Mario Bros. 2 - 6:30h
quite disappointing. there was nothing really new at all except the coin aspect. the level design was nothing special. it was just really boring.

Game 4: Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed - 9:30h
This one was surprisingly short, but it stayed interesting the whole way. I enjoyed the writing and the combat didn't get old. beating baddies with keyboards and laptops while decked out in suits was fun times.

Game 5: Cooking Mama: Bon Appétit! - 9h
just like all other cooking mama games! fun little pick up and play
