Porn-Induced Sexual Dysfunction

Well I definitely don't have any mental issues haha. Yeah I have to physically stimulate myself while watching. It seems so long ago where I didn't have to do that. But I guess I'll give it another go. My semester just ended and I'll be home for a month and haven't stimulated myself or watched porn for the last week, so I'll keep this going for as long as I can.

It just sucks though at parties and stuff if a girl starts to come on to me I have to sort of disengage from her because I know what's going to happen.

There's a general consensus that too much porn dulls your imagination, yes, but it's also possible you just may not have found your fetish/niche that really gets you going.

To put that another way, EVERYTHING gets you going when you're 15, including sitting there watching the wall.

It's different when the hormones settle and your mind gets into its desired groove.

I've been having wet dreams too lately being as though I haven't masturbated, watched porn or had an orgasm in a month during this reset.

Well I'm jumping on this bandwagon starting today. I had this problem with the last girl I was with a few weeks back (though we managed to work it out). It was extremely frustrating as she was beautiful and active, it killed my ego. I was suspecting it was due to the porn intake and daily (often multiple daily) jerk off sessions where I start helping myself from a soft state. I'm glad this thread showed up.

Why not rather than stop all porn just cut it back to more "normal" porn? Like those Xart ones where it's 2 people having actual sex in a more normal way and more sensual rather than rough or misogynistic. If you didn't masturbate for say a week, then went onto that it would help change it, wouldn't it? And if you stop being satisfied by those videos, stop for another week.

Pretty sure I had this too and I didn't watch too much porn. Just enough to give me the problem. I cut out all porn this summer and my GF is here now I have had no issues and have seen a very noticeable improvement. Thanks, OP, for posting this.

Also, to those who think too much: I know it's hard, but you are causing yourself issues by worrying so much about it going "limp". Try to shut off your brain.

I'm gonna give quitting a go starting today. It will be difficult though as I live in a very secluded town, no chance to meet anyone. Wish me luck!

My collection is staring at me daring me to delete it, not sure I can bring myself to do it just yet...

I started having really lousy boners a couple of days ago while trying to masturbate, porn or not...i can't get it up like i used to, this has never happened to me before, so i'm panicking, this thread has eased me down a bit, though.

So does abstaining from masturbation really help? starting today, i try to get as far as possible.

Did you read the thread, dude? Almost everyone's said that cutting porn completely helps them.

Yeah, but they were mostly sex related problems, this is about masturbating alone.

And why does this happen now? i used to fap much more frequently in the recent past, like 1-3 years ago or something.

Well, I don't know your life or personal details, but presumably you're growing up and aren't going to be as hormonally-charged as you were during puberty. It's not really a surprise you'd be slowing down a bit.

Of course there could easily be other problems, like stopping exercise, gaining weight, becoming sedentary. We're not doctors here.

BUT generally speaking, lowering the porn intake should bring things back to normal.

I think the Internet has ruined virility of many men of this generation.

I talked to my cousin, which reminded me of this topic. He just turned 18 and just got his first girlfriend. His girlfriend is not much of a looker but at least it's a start. While I was talking to him I just couldn't understand why it took him so long to get his first girlfriend. He's not a bad looking guy and he's funny and likes have fun with friends.

But then I remembered how he joked about fapping twice a day sometimes more...

When I was his age, I already had several girlfriends and I began dating at 14. But back in the '90s, Internet porn was still just a novelty. We had Skinemax and Playboys but they were mostly softcore and still left a lot to the imagination. Also they weren't easily accessible for most. Heck, I hadn't actually seen a blowjob up close until I got one for the first time.

I think not having a daily porn-crutch to satisfy your desires, encouraged most boys back then to be more aggressive and confident seeking women. Also when we finally got to the sexual act, it was more intriguing and gratifying because we hadn't watched tons of bizare hardcore porn so our expectations weren't warped.

I don't think porn or fapping is evil. But I definitely think it sedates the sex drive to an extent. Who knows, sometimes you want to sedate your sex drive (ie. your SO's hot BFF is staying overnight at your place :lol ) but if you're a teen and you haven't had much luck with women, you really should lower your exposure to porn. A lot of teens and young adults seem to use porn as a crutch. For example, they won't build up the nerves to talk to the Asian girl in class because they'll just rub one out to Japanese upskirt porn later that afternoon. And when you finally get a girlfriend you may have trouble performing because the bedroom experience isn't replicating your various porn fetishes.

I actually think it would good if people followed the warnings and only watched hardcore porn if they were over 18-21. Not because it's evil, but because it stunts a man's sexual growth and virility if watched excessively at a too young age. My 18 year-old cousin can tell me every single sexual act and position imaginable but he doesn't know how to undo a girl's bra.

Completed.

Didn't even have porn induced sexual dysfunction.

Figured since I was gonna start weight lifting, I might as well give this a try. I win.

I've tried a bunch of times. The longest I've made it trying this was five days. I'm meeting up in Tahoe for a family vacation soon. I'll try to make it four days before that, and the natural buzzkill of the trip should slingshot me to nine days.

First time in thread but I do have to echo that my libido plummets and I feel more composed homonally and sexually when absolutely destroying myself at the gym.

I'm on a deloading week right now...

And my wife is on her period.

I need to schedule this shit better.

You can't do this by finding time periods where you won't have time to watch porn, otherwise you'll just watch it again whenever you get any free time. It has to be a conscious effort where you draw enough willpower to stop on your own terms. It sucks, it's tough but it's ultimately the only way.

Exercising is definitely good. Also, stay away from 'gateway' sites. Sites that while not technically porn themselves, are a first-class ticket to square one. Your brain will try to trick you and tell you it's ok. It's not.

great posting dude. i remember when i had my first kiss at 12. that shit was crazy

It takes 20-30mins/day if you do it daily and normally. That is about 1/50 of your life fapping.

I think I should quit doing that, I will try :) Going to dedicate my time for painting/animating with Photoshop instead.

20 to 30 mins? You need more practice! If I'm not in and out of a pre-nap fap in under 3 minutes, I get aggravated!

At any rate, I noticed a decline in my sex drive with constant porn watching and masturbating. I'm going on 2 or 3 months with no porn, and now I'm boffing the wife nearly daily...sometimes multiple times a day. There is no substitute.

You have to be gentle with your little buddy. 20mins is not the time of pulling, it just simply general time from getting "tools" to moving to the next thing. Also finding the right scene is not that easy... Sometimes it can take some time.

I was never too overtly sexual to begin with, but I think porn has had an effect on my sex drive. I have a friend who watches a ton of porn and has a ton of sex. I don't get that. I don't watch nearly as much porn as him, and I really am not out there looking for sex and I go pretty long periods of time without getting any. Maybe that's just how I'm wired. Eh, I don't feel like I'm missing much.

But is it good sex? That's the issue here.

Excellent thread and opportunity here.

Extremely difficult to practice, but totally worthwhile.

I have noticed in periods in the past when I hadn't masturbated in quite a while (up to a few weeks) I became far clearer mentally and had a lot more energy. Though there was an undercurrent of restlessness and agitation (welcome to testosterone).

When I don't play pocket hockey, there is some kind of fundamental drive pushing me to do things. Whereas after I "decompress" instantly there's this sense of relief, but also a sense of sloth and boredom. Like you're killing your motivation at the same time you're scratching that itch.

The french call orgasms "La petite mort", the little death.

In all eastern traditions working with energy ( yoga, hard martial arts (taekwondo, karate) and soft (heh) martial arts (qi gong, tai chi) ) masturbation is seen as a huge drain on the body's chi (energy flows and levels) and thus is highly warned against.

Whether you believe in chi or not doesn't matter, these findings are beginning to be correlated using the methods of hard science as we have seen in this thread.

There are married men that don't know how to do that. That shit is hard yo.

A good sex drive is healthy, but I don't think a person should be looking for a relationship solely for sexual gratification either. Companionship is a big factor too. The will and desire to seek out a partner should come from a place of comfort and inner confidence, not desperation. A relationship should be more than just an opportunity to unload pent up sexual frustration. No one should feel like they're under pressure to "perform."

Porn or not, everyone is going to have sexual fantasies that they can't fulfill in reality. That's just a part of life. But the feelings both people have for each other should more than make up for it in the bedroom. And who knows, maybe certain fantasies can be accommodated now if they seem less taboo in mainstream culture.

I honestly want to know where the bras=difficult thing comes from. If it takes you anymore than two seconds with one hand then I don't know what to say to you.

For years films like American Pie had made me think it was some rubics cube operation. Then I get to it and it's a simple pinch+twist. I was all "huh".

Because men usually can't see the clasp or their hands while they try to work it off. And also because being horny and distracted makes it difficult to think straight.

So did anybody pass the so-called "90 day period"?

This thread is 5 months old.
Yes, on my second attempt. Scarjo's leaked nudes ruined the first attempt.

Second attempt did include a couple of week-long meetups with the lover though, so it wasn't complete orgasm abstinence.

Cool!

Did you give up masturbation since or ...?

I would assume after this 90 days is up and you whack off again, the addictive cycle may renew itself, or is there some kind of fundamental weakening of that compulsion?

6 weeks passed. Still need to kill those fantasies but don't really want to as I take some mental pleasure in them.

You guys are giving up masturbation entirely for 90 days or just watching porn to do it? Isn't giving it up dangerous? I've heard bad shit can happen if you don't but maybe that's just blue ball jokes and aren't real.

I now masturbate and occasionally watch porn, but nowhere near my previous levels. Moderation is the key. Haven't succumb to the cycle.

It is indeed very healthy to orgasm regularly to 'clean out the pipes'.

but

You aren't going to get something just because you went three months without ejaculating that one time.

If you get regular exercise and keep your blood flowing naturally, you won't get "blue balls" since your body will be too busy distributing blood to other vital areas.
