Ah yes, I remember reading some of those impressions. I guess the detractors missed Mario Kart Ds or something.

I'm not surprised by that anyways. Diddy Kong Racing was (imo) a far better game than Mario Kart 64 but general people will say no because it's Mario Kart. You just can't beat a Mario Kart. While i'm not excited for Diddy DS i'm sure its still underrated.

This screenshot alone gets me frackin' high and shows just a smidgen of the DS possiblilities. No more writing down in game manuals or memorizing patterns, rooms, or forgetting where to go next or where you came from. The fact that I will be able to practically play a handheld version of WindWaker is awesome.

Zelda, FFXII, DQ. Just three games and I am overwhelmed. When will I find the time?

February US Release Dates

Pretty good month coming up, with 11 known titles coming our way. The biggest and best look to be Lunar Knights and Meteos: Disney Magic. They both look great and really make the DS shine. Another big one but one that has received somewhat average reviews is Diddy Kong Racing DS. Still, it should be a big seller for the considerably large and growing audience. There's a couple turds this month, so watch out for 'em. They just make the good titles look even better.

FF12 RW is one of the best looking handheld games I've ever seen.

Lunar Knights I'm getting even though I never played any of the Boktai games..oh well
FF6 coming around the same time wooters.

It's actually not so bad. It's really short (8-10 seconds at the most) and it's really easy to beat the CPU without having to "go crazy." I can imagine some damage could occur when playing it with some friends though.

Seriously loving this thread, been checking it since I first started lurking on the forums. And as many have said, amazing FFXII:RW screens. Seriously, I've no idea how a 2D game could possibly look any better at that resolution.Good to see some companies not shoveling out tripe on the system.

Just a heads up PantherLotus, you labelled your Bleach DS 2nd screens on the previous page as from the original game. And it's out Feb 15th in Japan, more Treasure goodness. Also many thanks to those that've contributed pictures :D

Time Ace looks really surprisingly good given the shitty resolution of the DS screens. Like what Star Fox Command COULD have looked like (I really enjoyed the game, but it was VERY visually underwhelming).

Hopefully it plays well.

I'm liking Time Ace a lot as well, the video seems very smooth. It looks as though it follows the same Time Pilot mechanic of killing so many drones, then fight the boss. Simple and fun, if they stick to that then it could be an excellent title to just pick up for a few minutes at a times.

This is about "Lionel Trains: On track"

Well, I got it too tonight on an impulse. Amazing how a 15 dollar game can do that. Anyway, I haven't been able to play too much, but I think so far it's worth the 15 bucks.

It looks pretty simplistic and it might be, but there does seem to be some depth (at least 15 dollars worth). You can invest in the construction of buildings which help gain better profits in certain products, plus you can have a single super structure in each town which give bigger boosts. And of course you research for new trains and boosts to current trains (extra cars, faster speeds.) there are 6 maps, each map having 12 cities.

Anyway, I'll know if this all works together when I play the game more. (If it's actually good, I might start a thread about it in case anybody's interested.) Shidoshi wasn't kidding when he said the game isn't helpful in showing you what to do, if you ever get a used copy of this, make sure you get the booklet!

Chrono cross had the best 3D background and overall textures for a PSX Game IMHO.
The battle against Fate is awesome, that boss is outstandingly good to see

I think it looks like a cool game and its already been proven the DS can do some great 3D when the company takes the care needed. Star Fox, Mario Kart DS, Final Fantasy III, Mario Hoops 3 On 3...I'll still wait for video but the overlying theme of this game looks awesome. Its also well known that DS 3D never looks so hot in still shots like this and always looks better on the system and in motion. Then again, what can I say...Graphics aren't everything for me.

Anyway...A 3D Time Pilotesqe game done in After Burner style by Konami?

What is NOT to love here?

DS has simply become an incredible system, console or portable...This great thread just proves it even more.

the screens of the FF12 spin off made me think(looks cool) - what GBA and DS game do you guys think has the best story?


i heard that golden sun and ff3 are considered to have the best stories? sure... storytelling is limited on the handhelds, but a good story is a good story. dont matter in what form it is told.
