I always used to get really pissed when people referred to me as "Junior" or replied by posting my avatar. I always thoght, "what, you can't treat me with respect or give me an actual reply, asshole?" That was back in my Dyack days of taking this place seriously.

I was really lucky when I was a junior, IIRC I only got called out for being a junior once and I don't even remember the context. Having a Junior Member tag is probably worse than any of the other tags that are given out, even 'suckin dicks since '66'.

People usually don't care about a random tag, but when they see the tag Junior its like calling out raw meat to a shark.

I personally hope that I avoid a tag for as long as possible, let me hide in the shadows and speak when I wish GAF.

When everyone used it. It'll probably be back when E3 is over. Though, I'd suggest locking the boards down until after E3 for members only if things continue to get worse.

I personally think it's stupid to resort to the Junior insult. Everyone starts off with the tag, no matter what year or month or day they joined. I know that the mods were starting to get sick of it awhile ago and anyone who brought it up would get Junior Member status thrown onto them.

This is always brought up a million times, but it's specifically not done because we get TONS of visitors during E3, and the money evillore makes from the ads during that timeframe is what keeps this place going ;). Will never ever happen, even if it would be nice for us.

No money will be made if the site is in constant '500' mode. Any megaton (and I expect there to be quite a few) will send the servers crashing.

Yeah, I figured that was the motivation for not locking the place down. Whatever he feels is best though.

This. I stopped using NeoGAFs search function a while ago as it's slow and annoying to have to wait 60 seconds if I accidentally forget a term or misspell something.

Some forums I used to go to had a 30 second wait for searches, and I thought that was bad.

60 seconds is just ridiculous and makes searching a complete pain.
 
When are the guys going to upgrade the forum software? It's 3.5.3, but 3.7.2 is already out... Not very safe to run outdated software.

last night, around 3am EST I got the 'neogaf is down for scheduled maintenance' message. I knew it was an hour early because it normally goes down at 4am EST. When I went to check neogaf this evening I got the same message until I deleted my cookies and re-logged in. Thought that was odd.

Speaking of which. What will gaf do if we get attacked by aliens, or some other world catastrophe? Or if gaf itself is destroyed?
