Hmmm, then I'm not convinced we'll see Cooking Navi pass a million, unfortunately.

It shan't. :( Famitsu is even lower than MC's total for it. It wouldn't surprise me if it's actually stopped being tracked now.

Dare I say that Wii Sports Resort has underperformed in Japan relative to its performance elsewhere? I mean, obviously, 1.8 million is a huge number, but...

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Between Wii Sports Resort, Animal Crossing Wii and Wii Music it's best not to be Katsuya Eguchi right now.

So, combined probably about 20-30k? That's not too bad, I guess. At least bette than the original release and probably even higher than its LTD (if you combine the SKUs).

30k is not likely. Last week Mario Kart Wii sold less than 9k, and Wii Fit Plus sold about 15k. I'll say 15-20k is about what we should expect.

NSMB Wii is just insane

Two consecutive weeks @ #1. It's terrible. It's like seeing a one-hit wonder artist hit #1 during a lull months after they did anything worthwhile.
Still hoping Reginliev comes to the U.S., though.
I guess somebody has to be #1, though.

Hey donny, remember some time late last year when I was discussing how I felt certain major titles in the future would do, and you said that you didn't believe that a majority of MGS fans would believe or see Peace Walker as "MGS5" and hence there is no reason for you to believe that it will sell as well as a mainline MGS game? Just curious, do you still feel that way? :)

I believe I said that they would have to convince the MGS buyers that MGS:pW was actually MGS5 to get the first week sales that you were saying. I didn't think it likely that that would be the case. They've certainly done a lot toward that now, though. I don't know if I'd change my mind on the likeliness of your first week sales prediction, but I am very interested in seeing how it does first week. :)

lol @ MK Wii at #10. It'd be funny if this were the beginning of somethting akin to that revival MKDS experienced sometime in 2008.

I don't even remember what I predicted for the first week. Was it 350k? 400k? I still feel pretty good about it, and I think it could be even higher now, since the game is coming out later than expected, and on golden week.

DQM J2 vs. PW will be interesting.

DQMJ2 should win that one.

I remember mentioning my disdain for predicting hard numbers when PW's potential sales were discussed. PW ended up being an example of why I feel that way, funny enough. We could reasonably predict a release period, but who the hell saw the MH tie in coming? That changed everything, IMO. PW could sell a million if the MH tie up were exploited at max.

Wow, I really bombed out on EoE and Valkyria 2! The rest look pretty good though. Peace Walker will definitely do over 400-500k in the first week imo. That EoE 360 prediction is soooooooooooo off. :(

Damn the PSP version is showing itself. Quite surprised how well its done being the first one (guess they got it very right quality-wise?). Now that Konami has seen that good pawapuro signals on PSP also applied to PYS, I wonder if they will finally try pawapuro on PS3. Still have to do the yearly comparison, bad month illness after illness, so sick (pun intended) of it :/

Yeah, the psp version scored one point higher in Famitsu.

The PES team could learn some things from the PYS team about doing good portable versions

Wii Sports Resort isn't underperforming. The proper comparison is with Wii Sports.

Media Create after 41 weeks:

[WII] Wii Sports (Nintendo) - 2.083.000
[WII] Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo) - 1.833.231

A LTD of at least 2,5-3M when it finally stops selling is nothing but disappointing.

Same goes for Wii Fit Plus.

Media Create after 28 weeks:

[WII] Wii Fit (Nintendo) - 2.189.779
[WII] Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo) - 1.817.855

I am surprised that the LTDs are so close at the same number of weeks. What would happen if we pulled the weekly sales from 31-41 to compare trajectory?

A LTD of at least 2,5-3M when it finally stops selling is nothing but disappointing.

Obviously I wouldn't argue that the number itself is disappointing, just the relative performance to other regions. WSR really took off in North America and it seems like it's much less of a thing in Japan, that's all.

We don't have Media Create numbers for Wii Sports Resort for all these weeks (outside top 10) but going by Famitsu they are very close and after week 42 Wii Sports starts dropping in sales rapidly.

I said a similar thing about NSMB Wii's performance in the UK. Apparently the absolute numbers are quite respectable, but it's still underselling Wii Fit Plus and WSR week after week (whereas the reverse is true in Japan and America). And then there's Just Dance, which is an absolute monster. :lol

Just so you know, this statement implies that it would be disappointing. If you want to convey the opposite, replace "nothing" with "anything".

Nintendo's starting running new commercials for it, Nintendo's business model is just so bloody intriguing this business cycle. treating games as something that last the life-time of a system like DVDS, that can be sold at any time. ahh how life should be.

There are still plenty of advertisements for NSMB Wii in Japan. Train videos, CMs, billboards, etc. Hopefully Nintendo can find a way to work SMG2 into this effort.

Also still wondering if NSMB DS can hit 6 Million.

Ah, wait... http://garaph.info/softwaregroup.php?grid=80

So "Michigan" started off around 15K, as well (keeping in mind that this number is Fam but the link above is MC, would that be right?). It would be kind of funny if this week marked Suda 51's first and second highest release weeks. Are there any titles that garaph is missing above?

Garaph numbers are complete from when they start until about a month ago, Josh is a little behind *nudge*
