As of April 1, new regulations in China require video websites to seek approval to stream foreign media. At the time, the ministry began blacklisting titles that "include scenes of violence, pornography, terrorism and crimes against public morality." Websites hosting this content were put under investigation.

List is not finished, more Titles are said to be added according to Senior Ministry official Liu Qiang

It's...a intresting mix to be honest. Also with such a vague wording, pretty much anything could be blacklisted in the Future.

What do you think?

so they can still pick up the Violence Jack and Devilman OVA tapes if they so desire. You can try to shut down Go Nagai but you'll never defeat him completely!

So they're banned because there are zombies or ghosts.

Gotcha.

Also: Good luck enforcing this China. You'll need it.

Parasyte had a Chinese character?

EDIT: So its shows that depicts public massacre. Funny how the first series of Tokyo Ghoul is allowed while the second (superior) season is banned.

Considering the prominent role of violence, pornogtophy chinese mobsters and government corruption in Black Lagoon I'm honestly surprised it is not on the list.

How could they ban Another?

Real talk? They are doing the citizens of China a favor given most of the shows on that list. All that being said, censorship sucks and I'll never understand why the Chinese government is so anal about things like these and is so censor happy.

Too bad the US doesn't do the same thing.

Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
I think the funniest part of this is that it implies they have a "Anime Control Division" staffed by middle aged men (and maybe women?) whose sole job is to marathon anime and approve them for broadcast.

AnimeGAF "hatewatches" a lot of drek, but this is a new level of dedication.

I pity the "endless shounen" sub-division. Probably still watching Naruto/One Piece.

I'm sure they'll find ways to watch these anime or read the manga if they so desire but still

fuck censorship, man.

If these are the factors then this list is gonna be far too long. Where's Kill La Kill?

Sword Art Online deserves to be on that list. Friend of mine told me it was a great anime and having not watched one in a few years I gave it a look.

Fantastic concept ruined by being author self insert masturbatory farce exemplifying everything crap about the medium.
