Darksiders 2 “Death”initive Edition galloping to current gen consoles

Nordic Games today announced that the Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition will come to current-gen consoles this winter.

The Deathinitive Edition will be a visually updated version of Darksiders 2, including all DLCs (Maker Armor Set, The Abyssal Forge, The Demon Lord Belial, Death Rides, Angel of Death, Deadly Despair, Shadow of Death, Mortis Pack, Rusanov's Axe, Van Der Schmash Hammer, Fletcher's Crow Hammer, Mace Maximus, Argul's Tomb) and running in native 1080p resolution. In addition to the graphic upgrade, adjustments to the game balancing and loot distribution have been made. The entire project is in the experienced hands of Gunfire Games, where nearly all staffers have already been working at Vigil Games and on Darksiders in the past.

Reinhard Pollice, Business & Product Development Director at Nordic Games: “We took over the franchise roughly 2 years ago and thought about the next chapter for Darksiders ever since then. Naturally (and extremely excitedly!), there will be a large-scale project based on Darksiders, but for now it is very important for us to take care of the existing games and make those available to a broader audience. Bringing Darksiders 2 to current gen was a logical step for us and the team at Gunfire Games know their trade inside-out, so we easily and quickly had lots of ideas that we wanted to realise for this specific edition.”

“It feels good to be working on Darksiders again, after a couple of years of hiatus”, comments David Adams, founder and president of Gunfire Games. “This project is a great opportunity for us to pick up where we left off two years ago and dig deeper into the game, which is close to all our hearts. Bringing the definitive Darksiders 2 experience to life is something that we hope a lot of people will enjoy and look forward to.”

Nice, I guess? Couldn't they have included the first one and made it the Darksiders Collection or something? Or am I missing licensing issues?

Awesome title, I must say. Who wants a Definitive Edition when you can get the Deathinitive Edition? That's metal as fuck!

Literally finished this game less than a week ago. I thought it was great, but probably won't go back for more. Glad they didn't announce this a week earlier or I would've held off for the "Deathinitive" edition lol

Speech impediments are in ya'll.

Also I love Darksiders but I dislike this re-release trend, I might buy it if it means another Darksiders game in the future though.

This would've been nice. I heard D2 was great, but I haven't played the first one and I just sold my PS3.

I guess I could use PSNow, but I still would've preferred a Warfinitive edition of the first one.

Not 60 fps apparently? Also, they mentioned making the Darksiders games available for everyone so why haven't they included the first one?

Another remaster that no one was even asking for, and only one game and not the whole collection? Very weird choice. I never played darksiders 1 , why would I buy a remaster if just 2?

Except no one really fears him, they just send him on side quests to collect 3 of a thing they want.

I'll be skipping this "Deathinitive" edition. Someone's giving themselves a handjob for that one.

Yeah, I was hoping for that myself. Maybe a free patch?

It took them a while just to patch the original buggy PC release, but that would be nice. There's no way they'd give us the DLC's for free, though.

It's a silly name but most games have silly, stupid premises anyway. Games are meant to be fun. Roll with it and lighten up

They are probably doing this to gauge interest for the next game and make easy money. They should have done the first one too. You're right about that.

Game was great but I don't need to play it again. Also is this finally confirmed for XB1?

Press release just says "current gen consoles" (it's plural, so), but the press pack only has PS4 box art. Press release also doesn't mention PS4 or Xbox One, specifically. But again, plural, so I guess, yeah!

I'd rather have a new game in the franchise really, this doesn't look that appealing. If they had released it as a remastered collection with both games, I might've considered the purchase.

Also, that title. Lmao.
