Nice PSZ numbers I suppose. Pikmin ain't bad for a mostly-untouched last-gen port, and the AC figures are pretty good.

HFS @ Platinum, that game keeps selling.

I really hope Nintendo's paying attention to the incredible Kirby numbers though, and actually decide to, you know, finish that console game they showed off like six years ago.

Feels much longer, but its was only 3 1/2 years ago they last showed Kirby GCN. Lets hope we see it this year.

Gogo WKC. Let's see some decent US sales.

If PSZ and WKC keeps it up, I will not consider them a bomb. Theyve got to make it past 300k and 500k respectively.

...FF13 was shown less than three years ago. :/ Seems like so much longer, yeah.

In the meantime, I have yet to download anything other than Kirby's Adventure from the VC, so I have those titles to hold me over in the meantime.

So guys thinking of an heroing later is this win y/n?

that is OT

Seeing the PS3 sales perform the way they are because of price and possibly it being to big for JPN is not

Thanks. I guess that's not too bad then. It does seem like a weak number compared to psp / wii / ds games.

Yeah, it's totally in topic...

I guess some people just don't like hearing about it.

Ahem... I'm going to tell you a secret. Remember how the NES was filled with hate and negative propaganda from the "adult segment" the further into its life it got? It's the same thing with the Wii but not with the same audiences.

This year there will be another big split. To put it simply, what is probably gonna happen is this: They show their classic games and you don't like them, you definitely don't like them. I'm sorry but E3 2009 will be an even bigger split actually, after that I expect it to stop but right now it's not even close to over.

IDK. I think even Reggie felt bad when he was asked "Where are the hardcore games for Wii" and all he could answer was "The new Animal Crossing!" He knows we got screwed over last year, I think after all the hate mail that Nintendo got as a result will get them to at least show us at least a couple of REAL hardcore first party titles.

:lol doubtful, as long as sales are high and net profit is great I'm sure he doesn't give 2 shits what a small segment thinks

Reggie feeling bad about disappointing "hardcore gamers?" Get a clue, Nintendo only gives a shit about money. And hate mail is actually hilarious when you know the person writing it is spending money on your products anyway.

Reggie did actually apologize for the poor E3 showing. I know it's probably not a big consolation, but there it is.

In addition, I'm hoping this year's E3 will be a return to form (for the expo itself and Nintendo's conferences for it), but I have to stay grounded in reality.

The upside is that the worse Nintendo's E3 blows, the more its October conference delivers.

Two years in a row their oct. conferences rocked our faces.

Reggie's done some stuff for more "gamer" gamers. He was at the very least trying to get GTA on Gamecube for a period of time.

It's more that, right now I don't think Nintendo of America has much to do about anything at all. With Wii Play, Music, Sports selling boatloads NOA doesn't have much clout to say "lets make more "gamer" games.

I don't think NOJ has anything to do with Punchout Wii, nor Mario Soccer, which were both by Next Level games.

NOJ doesn't exist, it's NCL (Nintendo Co Ltd)...

The more you know.

He was also trying to get GTA on the Wii for a little bit as well.

I do think that he was a good deal of authority on what Retro does, I just hope we see what they're up to soon.

Yeah NoA is totally not to blame for our current lack of Disaster and Fatal Frame

Capcom is sure making a lot of money out of those Resident Evil rereleases. All those sales are pure profit.

Well, Resident evil Zero sold 50K right? This one is probably going to sell 50K. That does add up to make a couple of million in revenue.

It'd be more, my figure was RE this week only. Lets say 200k total at around 4000Y each, ~8.7$m in revenue. Its pure profit for what Capcom gets from there sure, but it sure isn't going to a main driver in Capcom financials, they are budget re-releases after all.

Yeah, I never meant to say it was the main driver in Capcom profits. Still pretty much risk free money.

These RE re-releases are clearly an investment in brand building. They'll make Capcom a small chunk of cash, but in the end the reward of building the RE identity on the Wii will bring in the bigger reward in the future.

Yup, not played much yet due to various festivities, but the graphics are some of the best on DS, the music's really catchy and the battle mechanic is...well, it seems quite run-of-the-mill just now. Fun on the whole, though, and the trackball control is quite interesting. D3 will definitely bring this to the US as it may well have more of a chance there.

You need a lot more space for using the balance board. Size is not really an issue as such. Of course making the PS3 smaller and sleeker could add to its attractiveness and will surely provide for a small boost. It won't catapult it forward though.

*cue PSP comparisson*

As for price: PS2 launched at 40k yen (GC 25k yen iirc), the same pricepoint the PS3 now sits at. PS3 was launched at 48k yen (they lowered it right before launch). PS2 launched well before the GC and had lots of different and compelling software over the course of that time, both things which the PS3 lacked and which hurt coupled with the relatively high launch price (although not that much over what PS2 debuted at).

Imo it's too late to achieve anything really significant with price cuts or redesigns, the 40G (internal redesign) with new colours and price cut alongside the release of one of the biggest franchises new iteration did not achieve anything in the long term either.

How many have they shipped? And apparently it's enough money for Capcom or else they wouldn't be porting all these games. Is it a lot of money like ksamedi said? Dunno, compared to revenue from other games apparently not, factoring the very low dev costs in probably yes. Doesn't matter all that much in the end I think.
