Eidos have secured No1 with ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum’, which is their biggest All Formats No1 since ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ back in 2000 (bigger than Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness).

The split was pretty close with 55% going to Xbox 360 and 45% to PS3 (the PC version will be hitting shops in a few weeks). Nintendo’s ‘Wii Sports Resort’ therefore moves back down to No2 and Codemasters’ ‘Ashes Cricket 2009’ stays at No3. Activision-Blizzard’s ‘Wolfenstein’ moves down two places to No4 followed by Nintendo’s ‘Wii Fit’ at No5. Activision Blizzard have a second Call of Duty game finishing off the Top 10 with ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ and Bethesda Softworks new expansion pack ‘Fallout 3: Game Add-On Pack #2’ comes in at No20.

Not surprising, as 1. cricket is far more popular than golf in the UK, and 2. English Cricket just won their biggest series of the year.
 
Layton does well ahead of new title. Market shrinks and Wii & DS perennials rise.

Both walking DS games have not done amazingly despite advertising proving that the casual market is way more price sensitive than the regular market. Goes some way to explaining why Sony & Microsoft's full price casual games flop all the time at launch, but sell OK once at budget prices.
 
I keep hearing a lot of praise for this Batman game, so word of mouth definitely helped. I want to try it out actually.

Wii Sports Resort still chugging along at a fair old pace too.
 
So Xbox 360 and PS3 are both $299 in USA, but in UK 360 is £199.99 and PS3 is £249.99?

How does that happen?

My daughter loves the programme on Nick Jr, but is thankfully only 2 so far too young for anything other than a plush toy. :D

I'm really suprised at Dissidia's numbers actually, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite had a much bigger marketing campaign in the UK and entered the chart at 27. Such is the power of the Final Fantasy franchise I guess. I'm glad to see a PSP title in the top ten that's for sure.

This is probably the right answer. Is Dissidia a sign of things to come or is a PSP game in the top ten a fluke? There a some top tier games coming out over the next few months.

Look for Soul Calibur next week - they have been advertising it all week on TV - tho i thought it was a GoW game for a while with the amount Kratos features in the ads.
