Bioshock, Uncharted, and the new Deus Ex argue otherwise. Ditto HL2 on consoles at least, no one plays TF2 PS360.

I think that all those having a story helps...

It's the supposed lack of content that hurt Vanquish, the idea of replay that isnt unlocking shit just doesnt seem to enter the minds of gamers these days.

Hardware increase imminent? Hope we hear something about this. Nintendo has been pretty quiet about sales in Europe lately.

Damm appalling placing i knew when i was looking at my friendlist this weekend that it was going to be placed low saw lots of people playing Fallout:NV and no one was playing Vanquish. :(

This should be an indicator of how low sales are outside of the top 10 and that Vanquish, EA Sports MMA and DJ Hero 2 have sold very badly.

From last weeks thread. The split is 44/38 so FIFA 11 PS3 is 28,281.

While it hasn't proven my point yet, it has already been given a AAA marketing budget (the first CGI trailer allegedly cost millions) and will likely pull Bioshock numbers when it releases.

Wii Party's sales decline is in line with Fifa 11 which isn't terrible. Both are destined for the Xmas top ten in the eyes of their respective publishers.

JD2 increased in sales this week, and is likely to do so next week too.

Shame there was no perspective on the numbers for the Layton release. DS games tend to do well in 2nd week, but I can imagine lots of pre-orders for Layton due to TV adverts so it could go either way.

The game actually did pretty badly in NPD. Most of its sales came from bundles. The sequel with multiplayer however performed very well in both NPDs and non-bundled total shipments.

Well, I'll agree that if you sell five games for $60 it is easier to sell a singleplayer FPS, but I don't think that's very doable for most studios. :p

So that would put Medal of Honor's first week at 197,835 and its total at 300,709.

Respectable start for Layton, I guess.

Did we ever get sales awards figures for the first two games? I know Nintendo are touting series sales of 1.5m in the UK in their advertising for the third game.

Yup. Competing on the shooter market is insanity, there's just no way such a barebone featureless can compare to Reach. They can try in action genre like they did with Bayonetta, but shooters are a big no-no at this point.

Besides, the demo was lackluster, I immediately called a bomb having played it.

It's like SEGA didn't want the game to sell at all. And if you don't want to market a game, you have at least to have an appealing cover to stand out in the shelf, but Vanquish cover screams "Budget game".

I think we've got monthly top 10 with hard numbers for 2 or 3 months in row now, that's much better than random speculation we'd had before. Yeah, no monthly awards hurts a bit as it allowed to track long tail of games.

Monthly UK top 10 with numbers exists for more than 2,5 years. It is posted at Famitsu magazine.
