‘Zumba Fitness’ topples ‘Crysis 2’, moving up from No2 to become 505 Games’ first ever All Formats No1 and the first fitness title to reach the top spot since ‘Wii Fit Plus’ back in W49 2009.

Sales of ‘Zumba Fitness’ fell by 49% after a highly successful launch on Wii, but sales of Crysis 2 were down by 57% which, in a quiet week for new releases, helped the Wii-centric title’s rise to No1. The hot weather this weekend is perhaps a contributing factor to the heavy drop in sales experienced by most titles, along with customary declines from several new titles in their second week of release. One of these, ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters’ manages to climb 2 places to No4 despite a 32% drop in sales, pitching it behind ‘Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars’ (-45%) which is a non-mover at No3. EA now have 3 games in the Top 5 as ‘Shift 2: Unleashed’ (-45%) only falls one place to No5. THQ are also well positioned with ‘HomeFront’ (-46%) down one place to No6 and ‘WWE All Stars’ (-41%) holding on to No7.

‘Pokemon Black Version’ (-15%) jumps back into the Top 10, up from No13 to No8, overtaking sister title ‘Pokemon White Version’ (-27%) which is a non-mover at No9. ‘Dynasty Warriors 7’ from Tecmo-Koei is this week’s only Top 40 new entry, debuting at No10, while several titles re-enter the chart, boosted by retailer price promotions – most notably ‘BulletStorm’ (+37%) which re-enters at No17.

360 version of DW7 sold better than the PS3 one? Hmm might be a UK thing.

Had been out since March 25th. Nobody cares.

OUCH!

Saw a Nintendog + Cats advert last night. You know, one of those simpering ones targeted at teenage girls and rolling puppy dog eyes and soothing female voice.

Yeah, pretty desperate.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
3DS is fucked. Just put mine in the dumpster. Dont even give a shit. NGP for life.

Bulletstorm on both consoles got a huge price cut at GAME, £23 it was and Reach was also up for £24. KZ3 and GT5 are still £43 for some reason and Black Ops was also at that price, it's quite a shocker when you see the price of games in stores compared to websites. The one game I find weird is FIFA 11, every week since release its been £25 in shops but online it's much more costly, an exception to the rule.

LOL 3DS, LULZ.

It's actually pretty hard to find here at the moment. Two girls at work saw the adverts and couldn't find one in town after visiting multiple shops. I suggested ordering online but they wanted it that day. No idea if they found it over the weekend.

Easter holidays have hit now so expect oddly gift oriented sales over the next few weeks.

3DS top 10 is biased towards the games in deals now (including the shit Rabbids 3D and the short Monkey Ball) with Street Fighter as the core game of choice. It's odd only one version of Nintendogs is selling, and great that Ghost Recon:Shadow wars is still top 10.

I can't think of a reasonable excuse as to why there are no 3DS games in the top 40. A useful and recent comparison being the kinect launch which had several games in the charts for several weeks.

I think even Move held on longer than this.

Zing!

Call me crazy but it might help things if Nintendo put out some decent adverts with actual in game footage in them instead of those stupid adverts with vacuous smiling numpties saying nothing more than 'Ooooo this is so awesome', 'Ooooooo this is sooooo magic', people have little idea what they are talking about.

A lot of NDS titles are moving up or are back in the charts, I believe the schools are out for Easter holidays in the UK. So possibly 3DS stuff is being drowned out by a general rise in evergreen software sales.

Incremental upgrades of DS games and ports of others at £40 RRP and people are surprised 3DS games are not charting?

Come on now (you can't be living in that much of a bubble).

Interesting point, but of the NDS titles in there, only:

35 (__) NDS New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo)

Fits this pattern. Everything else (Lego, Art Academy, and Pokemon) would have been in the charts regardless.

But surely moving down, not up. I'm looking at Pokemon in particular.

Yeah, I understand that they can't show 3D footage in the adverts, but they could at least show you what the people are playing and have a THIS IS IN 3D ON THE ACTUAL CONSOLE disclaimer at the bottom of the screen.

Well, the 3DS games shouldn't be expected to hang around the top considering that the userbase is still very low. But to drop out of the top 40 entirely is somewhat worrisome.

It is possible that people are choosing to pick up DS software with their new 3DS console though.

Also, why on earth has Black suddenly overtaken White? That's a bit odd!

For Pokemon to push other titles out of the top 40 it would need to have been completely off the charts were it not for the holiday effect you mentioned. The Pokemon charting positions have gone up, but not in a way that would have effected the 3DS charting positions.

The Nintendogs+Cats advertisement does show footage but I don't think lack of sales is anything to do with lack of exposure.

What 3DS games?

They're not on the list week 3 because there's none worth purchasing anymore. Logic 101.

Were the Kinect and Move launch lineups any less shoddy? (actually asking)

Well Kinect had Kinect Sports,Dance Central,Your Shape and Kinectimals at launch hell even Joyride had it charms.

So i'd say that was a pretty firm launch lineup.

Concidering that the 3DS is pretty much a brand new system (this is the 3rd week as mentioned earlier in the thread) and that the 3DS is the succesor of one of the most popular gaming device in history, i'm surprised to not see one 3DS chart this week. I didnt expect the chart to be flooded with 3DS games, but not a single game, not even if 40th place, that is surprising to me.

Sure it is.

I have a 3DS but have yet to buy a 3DS game. I've only gotten a few through rentals because there's no games that I really want. I'm just a sucker for new hardware.

So week 3 and there's nothing in the All formats Full Price chart.

For Comparison, Duration of DS Launch titles in the All formats full price top 40 in 2005:

Asphalt: Urban GT: 5 weeks

Wario Ware: 7 weeks

Super Mario 64 DS: ~5 months?

Yeah I thought it was ok, but that's quite subjective, the best objective measure we have is metacritic, a quick comparison gives:

Dance Central 82
Kinectimals 74
Kinect Sports 73
Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 73
Joyride 52

Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition 85
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars 78
Ridge Racer 3D 74
Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D 73
Nintendogs + Cats 72

So the 3DS lineup is, using this measure, stronger than Kinects. I imagine Move performs even worse than Kinect in this regard.

Also worth noting, Kinect vs 3DS is all new IPs vs all established IPs.
