Both Nintendo and Sony's decision to not change their ways in the handheld business is going to give more space for iOS, Android, Facebook and so on for years to come.

Then again, NGP does have Call of Duty.

3DS will start doing well when the games start coming. That's pretty much it I reckon.

I'm not so sure of this. I think a more permanent, structural change is taking place in the videogames software market.

Not only do you have relatively cash-poor teens and pre-teens who can now indulge their indiscriminate gaming appetites on household ios devices but you also have time poor adults who do have the cash but not enough time due to the vast amount of game content already out there.

I think this coming generation is going to be an absolute bloodbath. There will be no room AT ALL for mid-tier content and only your Pokemons, premium Mario, Zelda and premium content from Konami, Capcom etc will survive.

All the low-tier content has already migrated to ios, with Nintendo and Sony playing catch-up on their own downloadable services to round-off their respective game libraries.

April 2005 after the DS launch the only game in the UK top 20 was Super Mario 64 DS, I can't find the full top 40 though, but that was a full month after launch.

If you go to the 3rd week after DS launch (Week Ending March 26 2005) the top 20 had Super Mario 64 and Warioware: Touched!

The DS had the first party titles to do that, 3DS doesn't.

Sony has already changed with the Minis add PS Suite to that & the PSN games that will be made between PS3 & NGP what else is there for them to change?

The Nintendo system is once again doomed. Everyone knows that the 3DS is just the 3rd tier anyway.

I wouldn't say it's doomed but at the moment it has no particular point to it.

It's biggest rival ironically is the DS. Nintendo is going to have a very hard time getting people to switch over.

The new market they courted and captured with the DS will not be in a hurry to upgrade for a long while i think.

Yep, that's been my gut feeling for many months. That market certainly wasn't captured through flashy visuals.

Cyberbike WTF?

Okay seriously someone tell me what this game is and what's the deal. I have never heard anything about it, and clearly it's a France thing, since I don't think I saw it in any other charts.

I can't believe it, but it's a goddam excersize bike that connects to your Wii.

Sorry, no source on that. Not on the internet anyway, I know from a retail client.
A friend of mine works at a german Media Markt. He said literally the same thing.

Aww, that's cool. I think an early 2012 release of IE2 may not be completely out of the question if IE has good enough legs to constantly sell some okay-ish numbers.

Also, I saw a 3DS for 239€ + any game you want from the current library for free in a big, local electronics market today. Those offers are becoming really good.

Notes:
- CoD: Black Ops (ps3) #1 in the 22th week after release
- Since the launch of 3DS, not a single 3DS-title charted in the dutch top ten

If the US launch is anything like the Japanese and PAL launches, it will likely trail the DS and the 360, with only Street Fighter 4 putting up decent numbers.

Shostradamus strikes again.

The DS is selling as great as ever thanks to Pokemon in the West. It might be 6 months or more before 3DS sales start to consistently outpace it. Not at an ideal head start over NGP.

Press Release said:
‘Zumba Fitness’ from 505 Games takes a second consecutive week at No1, sales down just 8% overall as the new Wii version only drops 10% over last week (90% of the sales) and the older 360 version actually climbs 14% over last week.

Lucasarts’ ‘Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars’ climbs one place, back up to No2 (-12%) which is where it debuted 4 weeks ago. EA’s ‘Crysis 2’ drops one place to No3 (-32%) and the publisher actually has 4 titles in the Top 10 this week (one more than last week) – ‘FIFA 11’ climbs 8 places to No4 (+88%) thanks to retail promotion, ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters’ drops one place to No5 (-11%) and ‘Shift 2: Unleashed’ drops 5 places to No10 (-46%). Sandwiched in-between No 5 ‘Tiger’ and No10 ‘Shift’ are THQ’s ‘Homefront (-8%) stable at No6, Nintendo’s ‘Pokemon Black’ up one place to No7 (+17%), ‘Pokemon White’ also up one place to No8 (+13%) and Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ (+62%) up 4 places to No9. There were plenty of retailer deals to be had for the Easter holidays, such as Warner Bros. Interactive’s ‘Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4’ (+112%), up 12 places to No11 and Rockstar/Take 2’s ‘Red Dead Redemption’ (+458%) a re-entry at No13 and last seen in this chart back in week 4, 2011.

The only new SKUs within the Top 40 show as a re-entry, as Ubisoft’s 360 Kinect/PS3 Move versions of ‘Michael Jackson: The Experience’ join the late Nov10 versions on Wii/DS/PSP – the title re-enters at No15 (+324%) and the 360 version takes a commanding 64% of total sales, highest new entry on the Xbox 360 FP chart at No7.
