Past Event: From June 11 to June 26, 2012, English-language players will (once again) be able to acquire a special Victini from the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection that knows the move V-create. V-create is an extremely powerful fire-type/physical move with 180 power and 95% accuracy, and this Victini is the only one that knows it. This is the exact same event as the one from December 2011 (listed below), so if you got that Victini you will not be able to get a second.

ueq4U.png

Past Event: From May 8 until June 11, 2012, North American players could receive a special Darkrai from Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

ueq4U.png

Past Event: As a result of a recent popularity poll, from February 2 until May 1 an Arceus will be available in the Dream World via the Pokémon Global Link. It is level 100 and has no special moves or Hidden Ability. The password necessary to access this Arceus for all non-Japanese games is ARCEUSVOTE.

ueq4U.png

LN52W.png

Past Event: Starting on March 10 until April 8 for Europe and North America, there will be a Wi-Fi event for a Zekrom and Reshiram, depending on if you own Black or White. This will allow owners of either game to get the version mascot they lack; Zekrom for Black and Reshiram for White. When tucked into the Pokémon Dream World (see the second post), a short movie will play and you will be able to play a game with Victini. Win the game, and the accompanying C-Gear skin below will be available for you.

Past Event: From September 18 to September 25, 2011, United States-based Toys "R" Us stores will be distributing a level 50 Zoroark. This Zoroark is special in that it knows the Dark-type move Snarl, which it cannot normally learn and the Technical Machine that contains this move (TM95) has not been distributed internationally yet. Snarl itself deals 55 base damage, hits both opponents in double battles, and hits adjacent opponents in triple battles.

ueq4U.png

MxfH6.png

Past Event: Starting on April 27 and lasting until May 31, United States-based Toys "R" Us stores will be distributing a Mystery Egg containing one of three Pokémon based on the Pokémon: Black and White animé series. The three possible Pokémon are Ash's Pidove, Iris's Axew, and Cilan's Pansage, and have no special attributes aside from having perfect Individual Values (IVs) in Attack, Special Attack, and Speed.

ueq4U.png

vDOAw.png

Past Event: Starting on March 28 and lasting until May 5, players can visit the Pokémon.com Fun Zone and play a browser-based Flash game for a chance to obtain one of Eevee's seven evolutions through the Pokémon Global Link and Pokémon Dream World. These Eeveelutions will have their special "hidden ability" which is not obtainable in normal gameplay. These abilities are as follows:

  • Vaporeon: Hydration
"Hydration cures any status ailment that the Pokémon with this ability has after each turn when it is raining, even self inflicted status such as from using Rest."

  • Jolteon: Quick Feet
"Quick Feet increases the user's Speed stat by 50% when the user is inflicted with a status ailment. The speed drop of Paralysis does not occur."

  • Flareon: Guts
"Guts raises the Attack stat by 50% while affected by the Burn, Paralysis, or Poison status ailments. The Attack drop from Burn does not occur. In Generation IV, the Attack stat is also raised by the Sleep status ailment, even self-induced sleep."

  • Espeon: Magic Bounce
"Reflects the effect of all stat lowering status moves (excluding Memento), non-damaging Status ailment inducing moves, entry hazard causing moves, moves like Taunt and Torment, and so on back to the user. Does not affect targets with Teravolt, Turboblaze, or Mold Breaker. Magic Bounce will only activate once a turn. If two opposing Pokémon have this ability only the target's Magic Bounce will reflect the move (i.e. the move will only be reflected once). Magic Bounce reflects the same moves that Magic Coat does."

  • Umbreon: Inner Focus
"Inner Focus prevents flinching. However, it doesn't prevent loss of movement when the user is attacked whilst using Focus Punch as the user doesn't actually flinch, but rather the move fails."

  • Leafeon: Chlorophyll
"During sunny weather, the Speed stat of Pokémon with this ability doubles. This effect lasts until the Pokémon is switched out or until the sunny weather ends."

  • Glaceon: Ice Body
"Ice Body causes a Pokémon to recover 1/16 of its maximum HP at the end of every turn when it is hailing. If a non-Ice-type Pokémon acquires this ability, it will take no damage and still recover 1/16 of its total HP each turn during hail."
The game itself is a simple brick-breaking game called "Play to Befriend a Pokémon" and requires the use of a player's Pokémon Trainer Club account. The Pokémon chosen for you is based on how you play the game, and you can play it as many times as you like to get the one you want. However, once you make your choice, you will not be allowed to change it. You will then be able to take it back with you from the Dream World when you use the Game Sync function of the C-Gear after May 5.

Past Event: For several weeks after release, the Key Item Liberty Pass will be available to download via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. For Europe, this means from March 4 until April 27; for North America, this means March 6 until April 27; and for Australia, this means March 10 until April 27. Happening Always: This event is in-game and will last indefinitely. In order to catch the dark-type Pokémon Zorua and its evolution Zoroark, you will need to transfer the Pokémon that were distributed to the Generation 4 games leading up to Black and White's release.

In order to do this, there are two options: the Relocator or the Poké Transfer (which is not available until you beat the game.) In order to activate the Relocator, you need to enter the left building on the northern-most street in Castelia City. Go to the 11th floor, and speak to the man on the right. When prompted, enter the phrases "Everyone Happy" and "Simple Connection." When you restart the game, at the bottom of the main menu will be the Relocator option. After selecting it, turn on a second DS and download the Relocator software from DS Download Play on the startup menu. It will then allow you to transfer over any eligible Pokémon and items, which are basically only the Pokémon involved for this event, as well as the unreleased TM95, Snarl.

To catch Zorua, make sure you have a spare Pokéball and an empty slot in your party, then take the fateful encounter Celebi to the first building on the right on Castelia Street in Castelia City. On the first floor, if you talk to the mysterious boy who normally only says "..." he will transform into Zorua and ask to join you! Then you can capture him, with no battling required.

To capture Zoroark, you need to take one of the shiny legendary beasts to the Lostlorn Forest which is located to the right of Nimbasa City. As you approach the mysterious trailer with the mysterious woman, she will suddenly rush out of it and attack you! Then a battle with the Zoroark will start and you will have the opportunity to capture her. Zoroark will respawn if you make her faint after you beat the Elite Four again, so no worries if you accidently knock her out.

The C-Gear lives on the bottom touch screen and is always present there by default.

Using the cartridge's built-in infrared capabilities, it allows for super-quick drop-in, drop-out battling, trading, and Friend Code exchange with local players. Using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you can use the Game Sync option (see below), and by using local wireless, you can use the Entralink (see below) and Xtransceiver (see below) options. By leaving the C-Gear on and closing your DS, you can also passively gain survey responses from players you pass in real life who have done the same.

In order to get your C-Gear, you must obtain the Key Item Dream Mist from Munna for Professor Fennel in the Dream Yard east of Striaton City. She will then reward you with your own C-Gear when you meet back up with her in her lab at Striaton City.

ueq4U.png

LfZ4a.png

The Entralink is a feature of the C-Gear that allows players to enter each other's games and complete missions throughout Unova using local wireless. Completing these missions will earn you Pass Powers, which range in features and usefulness. For instance, one Pass Power gives your Pokémon an experience-boost for a limited amount of time! This feature is similar to the Sinnoh Underground of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum and is only playable on local wireless.

The Entralink is based in the Entree Forest at the center of Unova. This is also where you can catch the Pokémon you bring back from the Dream World, using a special Pokéball called the Dream Ball.

ueq4U.png

aL3oK.png

The Xtransceiver is a Key Item and feature of the C-Gear that allows you to easily video chat with four people locally using any Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DSi XL, or Nintendo 3DS system.

It is also used in the single-player campaign when you are called by non-player characters such as Professor Juniper, which showcases Sugimori’s art for the character and brings Black and White closer to other Japanese RPGs in presentation.

ueq4U.png

8IWZS.png

The C-Gear also features customizable skins. These skins may be unlocked using a password then downloaded from the Pokémon Global Link. After connecting your Pokémon Black or White game card to the Global Link, you can go to the Promotions page on the Global Link website. There, you will be able to redeem the passwords you find for the C-Gear skins. After redeeming them, head to the Customize page and select the appropriate C-Gear skin, Pokédex skin, and Musical Show background. Then on the C-Gear in your Pokémon Black or White game, select “Online” and then “Game Sync.” Your new skin and settings should be transferred right over!

qrVKA.png

r0brX.png

The Global Link feature is a website that you can link your game to, and encompasses trainer rankings for online battles (the Global Battle Union, see below) and an interactive set of mini-games for growing berries and capturing Pokémon with hidden abilities (the Dream World, see below.) The Global Link also allows you to send E-Z Mail to anyone you have exchanged Friend Codes with, although you are limited to the in-game phrases available. Daily stats on Pokémon Black and White players worldwide is also listed on the Global Link website, such as how many Pokémon were caught, how many players rode their bikes, etc. Finally, you can download special C-Gear backgrounds from the Global Link website as well.

The Global Link website can be found here.

ueq4U.png

tSW3o.png

The Dream World is an online website and feature of the Global Link that allows trainers to catch Pokémon with unique natures, decorate their own house, play minigames, interact with other trainers you've registered as friends, and grow berries. In order to access the Dream World, you will need to have the C-Gear .

In the Dream World, you can upload a Pokémon you have caught and have it cross a rainbow-colored bridge to the Island of Dreams. Once there, you can encounter Pokémon not from Unova, or with abilities not otherwise possible. You can then play minigames with these Pokémon, and if they like you enough, you can take them back to your game with you by visiting the Tree of Dreams. You can then catch these Pokémon in the Entree Forest using the special Dream Balls when your Pokémon returns to Unova from the Dream World.

ueq4U.png

nJ3xR.png

The Global Battle Union is an online website and feature of the Global Link that allows you to gain points by battling other trainers using the random online matches feature, and view your standing in comparison to other trainers worldwide. You can also apparently battle other trainers on the Global Battle Union website and participate in official Pokémon Battle Competitions that it hosts.

k9OIt.png

The Global Terminal, located on the upper floor towards the right of every Pokémon Center, is used to access the bulk of online multiplayer activities. From here, you can access ranked and unranked random battles, the Global Trade Station for offering and making requests to trade for any Pokémon you've seen in your Pokédex, and a service that allows you to upload Vs Recorder and Pokémon Musical videos.

xQn6O.png

  • Pokémon.com
The official site for everything Pokémon, including the games, anime, and trading card game.

  • Pokémon Black Version and White Version
The official website for the games this thread is about, and the site which I shamelessly stole the requisite media from to make this thread so good looking.

  • Iwata Asks: Pokémon Black and Pokémon White Versions
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata digs in deep with the head honcho trio of the Pokémon franchise -- Junichi Masuda (director), Ken Sugimori (illustrator and character designer), and Tsunekazu Ishihara (president of The Pokémon Company.)

  • Bulbapedia
Why buy a guide when you can use this? Infinitely useful, imminently helpful, Bulbapedia has answers to almost everything you can ask about Pokémon, including the anime and trading card game.

  • Smogon University
The de-facto competitive Pokémon website, with tips, guides, and an active community all dedicated to being the very best.

  • Serebii.net
Despite its early-90's design, Serebii is still a useful resource, if you know where to look.

  • Veekun
Considered by some to be the best online Pokédex.

Just finished with the Dream World today. I got 7 Pokemon with DW moves (5 of which I didn't get yesterday).

Those that were female had shitty DW abilities, and the only male one with a good move was Ponyta (Thrash) so I just went with him.

Fucking Hoppip and his pathetic DW moves... I was so happy to get a good score with Hoppip and then it's a fucking Helping Hand.

OMG WHAT

WHAT

WHAT

WHOAT

Dunno if it'll even be mainline, but hopefully it still supports the DS (or it's the Wii game, which makes more sense given timing).

No freaking way they'd announce the third version this early; there was a one-and-a-half year gap between D/P release and Platinum announcement. Nintendo can't possibly need the hype so soon.

Andrex, could you edit my FC in the list, the new one is 0862 3560 9885

thanks :)

And just got a dream world ability Dratini from GTS after 5 days of trading for it :p

There was a one year gap between the announcements for Platinum, HeartGold/SoulSilver, and Black/White.

Gray needs to come out this year because it will still be a DS game with DSi enhancements, and the DS is fading fast.

Rumor is Wii 2 is coming out this year or the next, I wouldn't be so sure.

Just look at how similar the circumstances are to the DS-3DS-Black/White ones. It's possible they'll go for the Wii.

OT3 baby!

It's WAY too early for a mainline game announcement. It's far more likely to be a Mystery Dungeon game, which hasn't seen a proper handheld release since 2008.

So I bought HeartGold!

Liking it so far only played around 2 hours and beat the first gym, the battle speed is a good speed just a tad slow but its good enough :).

Permanent running shoes ftw!

Keep in mind it's a VERY long game. I personally couldn't finish it and got tired of it after beating the first part, as going into the second part is basically starting a brand new game >.>

My OT3 is Ditto and 2 Haxorus. :p

So how stable is the Dream World site now? I haven't gone for it yet because of the long downtimes.

Also, has anyone gotten 2500 pts and gone to the Sky World, land of EV-reducing berries (allegedly)?

I'm at 1500 points and I skipped 3-4 days, so I'm sure someone has unlocked the Sky World.

Does it really matter which version (B vs W) I pick up? I'm a gen I/II-only kid at heart, really.
The real answer is to get Black if you have previous generations and will be importing Pokemon and get White if you won't.

I unlocked Windswept Sky earlier this morning.
Scored some new berries and an Aerodactyl. Fun times.

Seriously, the current storage situation has killed any motivation I have to play the game. What's the point in making a new team if I have nowhere to put them?

Roto13

Yeah, this generation definitely needs a Pokemon Box or Ranch or something. They added 150 new Pokemon and kept the same number of boxes. After getting one of each, there's two and a half boxes left.

How far into this brick breaking game do I need to get? I always sucked at these :(

EDIT: Lol, it says right in the instructions. 4 levels. I made it to 4 but died.

They really should have released an update to the Ranch by now. It's not even out in Japan yet.

I really dig this game! Got both versions (review copies) and the last game I had in the series were Pokémon Red for the Gameboy. Anyway, I just got the C-Gear and my Game-Sync code, should I just register it at the Global Link website now or should I wait?

Would really appreciate if some people would like to add me and let me add you to the Pokémon friendlist to see how that works. Maybe I'll be able to get you Pokémons someday, as I have both versions and eventually will be able to get them all.

I see I can trade and play online against others on the DS as well, it really rocks. I only got five different Pokémons for now, so there's some way to go before anyone wants to trade with me, but at least I'm getting started this Easter.

Any items you guys think are important in battles beside the obvious potions?

Another thing, when I connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi, does it save my game online or does it just connect my online profile with my savegame? My online profile is on the cartridge right?

I'm at 4710 pts right now and yes sky does have EV reducing berries, got speed and defense EV reducing berries so far there.

Something i've noticed though, there seems to be a cap on dream points per day of 600 and another cap on pokemon depending on the dream points you have got in that session. Once i get 420 points in a session, i can't find pokemon or berries in both the sky or forest :( I have to water and trade with dream pals to get up to the cap of 600 (beyond which trading and watering seem to have no effect on dream points).

Yeah, this generation definitely needs a Pokemon Box or Ranch or something. They added 150 new Pokemon and kept the same number of boxes. After getting one of each, there's two and a half boxes left.

No they added 4 new boxes. You just don't have access to all of them until you put a Pokemon in each one.

I really dig this game! Got both versions (review copies) and the last game I had in the series were Pokémon Red for the Gameboy. Anyway, I just got the C-Gear and my Game-Sync code, should I just register it at the Global Link website now or should I wait?

Doesn't really matter. I personally would wait so I don't get distracted, but then again it may give you something to do if you don't have your DS handy or don't want to play the actual game.

Would really appreciate if some people would like to add me and let me add you to the Pokémon friendlist to see how that works. Maybe I'll be able to get you Pokémons someday, as I have both versions and eventually will be able to get them all.

The general practice is to only add people when you want to trade or battle with them, otherwise you're just wasting Pal Pad space. (There are only 32 spots.) These are at the bottom of the OP, I suggest you check them out:

I see I can trade and play online against others on the DS as well, it really rocks. I only got five different Pokémons for now, so there's some way to go before anyone wants to trade with me, but at least I'm getting started this Easter.

Any items you guys think are important in battles beside the obvious potions?

Leftovers is pretty great. Erm, for the main game Sitrus Berries could help but berries are in short supply in B/W. Oh! Amulet Coin of course.

Another thing, when I connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi, does it save my game online or does it just connect my online profile with my savegame? My online profile is on the cartridge right?

When you use the Game Sync it connects your online profile to your game. So yeah, the second one. If you're just using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (aside from ranked battles) your game isn't connected.

Which eevee evolution should I aim for? Black version, grass starter, at the 4th gym. Thinking I got fire and grass covered.

Happening Later. Starting on April 27 and lasting until May 31, United States-based Toys 'R' Us stores will be distributing a Mystery Egg containing one of three Pokémon based on the Pokémon: Black and White animé series. The three possible Pokémon are Ash's Pidove, Iris's Axew, and Cilan's Pansage, and have no special attributes aside from having perfect Individual Values (IVs) in Attack, Special Attack, and Speed.

What a stupid event.

Thanks for your answers Andrex, I'll read through them here in an hour.
I'm signing up for Global Link just to secure my username as well.

Oh, and I tried watching if there were any gifts and to my surprise I just got the Liberty Pass, thought the event ended at April 10th and that it just wasn't updated in the OP yet. But I can't get Victini anymore then, right?

Yeah, just touch the online logo on your C-Gear and it's really obvious from there. You can tuck in most Pokemon but a few can't be tucked it because they don't have Dream world art yet for some reason.

I see intralink is a spot on the map... but how do i get there?
Click on Wireless on the C-gear.

Like the name suggests, to warp to someone else's Entralink/White Forest, you'll have to use wireless, so no internets.
