From 'much weaker than the competition' to 'slightly faster but still much weaker than the competition' isn't all that positive.

If the thread gets few replies it'll be because it was already mentioned in the original rumour thread.

What positive light?, as I understand aren't the specs mentioned more or less confirmed?

This is only a rebuttal of the "downgrade" theory, that at some point Wii U hardware was more powerful.

There was a ton of scepticism expressed regarding the downgrade rumour and the clock speed increases were explicitly mentioned. If it didn't receive enough focus that's perhaps because the thread was busy discussing whether or not such a small form factor was worth it.

it just counters the claim it got downgraded from E3.

This is "positive" because it states the exact opposite of that other thread.

Bringing it software and all that stuff is whatever, but it really doesn't have anything to do with what the other topic/rumor was talking about.

More like incoming 1 page thread because, well, who really cares.

The device is out and in people's homes right now. We know what it can do and what it can't. What use is there in knowing this info when it's never going to outperform any of it's direct competitors anyway.

Anyway, the clock speed bump to the GPU and CPU was known. The "downgrade" refers to a decrease to the number of shaders I think.

Rough guess, but, if the downgrade rumor is true, it went something like this:

1. Original devkit
2. 320/x/x to 160/8/8
3. 400 Mhz to 550 Mhz GPU, 1 Ghz to 1.25 Ghz CPU

The rumor says 2 happened. Just because 3 happened doesn't mean 2 didn't, depending on when Shin'en got their dev kit.

I think I'll take Shin'en's word for it. Since they're actually a competent developer on the wii u, I think they have a better handle on what the hardware situation is than most.

Now thats a question. With the way people spin shit these days, maybe the first kits were fast, second got slower, and third landed somewhere between the two but less than the first :lol
