2014 Vita release Outlook for GAMES

I was looking through some of the upcoming VITA releases the rest of the year and I just realized I need a third job to pay for all the games I want. Despite just buying the
FFX & X-2 games for VITA that will keep me busy for a very long time, but there are a ton of other ones coming out:

To me, there is a great mix in the line-up between console/PSN ports, new Indies and localized VITA games from Japan. There is soo much to play I don't know how I can afford everything this year! I just picked out the larger releases that I have interest in, but there may be others on the Indie side I should be paying attention to? Am I missing anything from the big pub. list that I should be adding?

How many of these will you be getting GAF?

"Bigger" Pubs (poss. phys releases):

Conception II
Demon Gaze
BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma
God of War Collection
Borderlands 2

The first thing I notice when I look at that list- in the "big companies" category, there isn't a single US game that isn't a port of something that's been out on other things for a while

I'm getting a good chunk of those sometime down the line, or I currently plan to anyway.

Conception II (shipped)
Demon Gaze
The Sly Collection
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth
Hatsune Miku- Project Diva 2
Danganronpa 2 (preordered)
Disgaea 4
Tales of Hearts R
Atelier Ayesha
Freedom Wars
The Wolf Among Us 1-4 (maybe, if the ports aren't a mess)
Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines
Ratchet and Clank: Trilogy (not “official” yet)
Akiba's Trip (preordered)
Xblaze Code:Embryo (preordered)

Unfortunate, but NA Sony and other devs are treating it as an on-the-go port and indie machine.

What are western devs doing on the 3DS that is worth mentioning?

Too many big publishers in the west are too hung up on the Hollywood blockbuster mentality.

for me based on that list:
Bigger Pubs (poss. phys releases):

Conception II
Demon Gaze
Danganronpa 2
Disgaea 4
Tales of Hearts R
Atelier Ayesha
Soul Sacrifice Delta
Freedom Wars
The Wolf Among Us 1-4
Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines

Big Indies:(there are a ton of other indies coming out this year!)
Minecraft
Hotline Miami 2
Velocity 2X
Murasaki Baby
Rogue Legacy
Hell Divers
Frozen Synapse
Galak-Z
Mercenary Kings
Hohokum
Joe Danger

ah shit

I'm more excited by the indie list than the 'big' list.

My wallet trembles in fear. I reckon it's time to move up to a 64GB card.

Western devs and 'big' handheld games are like oil and water.

Depending on how good the port job is:

God of War
Sly
OddWorld
Hotline Miami 2

Maybe:

Mind Zero
Mercenary Kings (that quick look hurts though)

Honestly out of those the only one I really want right now is Galak-Z, but then again, as a new Vita owner I still have plenty of games to go through.

Akiba's Trip 2 and Natural Doctrine are missing in your list OP.

That's indeed unfortunate but I prefer my Japanese niche titles anyway.

Lots of games I'm interested in :D

God of War Collection
Borderlands 2
The Sly Collection
Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty
Soul Sacrifice Delta (I got over the cheesiness of the intro, I enjoyed the game)
Freedom Wars (looks interesting)
The Wolf Among Us 1-4 (maybe)
Ratchet and Clank: Trilogy (not “official” yet)
PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate (looks like an indie game, but interested)

Big Indies:(there are a ton of other indies coming out this year!)
Velocity 2X
Rainbow Skies
Murasaki Baby
Hell Divers (hmm)
Frozen Synapse
Galak-Z
Mercenary Kings
Joe Danger (could be fun, but rather have Trials Fusion)

Point is that western devs in general aren't doing much for either handheld, they are more console focused.

Mobile and Facebook. There are like, 20x more developers working on mobile and facebook than there are on console in North America.

They have learned how to leech more money out of people on mobile and facebook games than they have ever made on handhelds.

We were talking about the big pubs section and exclusive games from them, not mobile etc. devs.

I don't think Atelier Ayesha Vita has been confirmed for NA. Then again, if it's like the other Atelier Vita games, it could just show up on the PSN one day.

Feel free to add our indie game (Cosmic Star Heroine) to the list. :)

You were saying they are more console focused.........I was saying they are more mobile and social focused.

Tons of huge western publishers and devs on mobile. Almost all of them.

Atelier Ayesha isn't announced for localization yet and Akiba's Trip is missing from that list.

I added Akiba and Natural Doctrine to the OP and will note Ayesha, even though we all know it will come.. It's the last Atelier game using the Phyre Engine correct?

I added it there, I've only been seeing the trailer on the PS4 demo at Wal-Mart for a few weeks now, lol. I just forgot there was a VITA port as well, so since your an active gaffer, I put it on top, lol.

Pretty good and big list isnt it? I mean this is a reason why i want the vita. It gets so much niche titles and it gets so much support (from gamers and devs). Only sony seems to be kinda ignoring it (Multiple accounts on one vita please, memory card adapter etc).

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment

Apparently the Asian version will have some English in it (not sure if it's a full translation or just subtitles for story scenes). Also, the anime is pretty popular over here so I wouldn't be surprised if this one gets picked up for NA release as well.

Danganronpa 2, and that's it. Maybe Oddworld games just to support the franchise, but I'll probably play them on console.

There's a few other games here I'll play / have played on PC / console instead.

Who cares? You should have expected this. Western devs don't care about portables. It's the same situation on 3DS.

Big western game companies put games on mobile and Facebook all the time.

Okay but we are talking about Vita here, a dedicated handheld. That's why I asked in comparison to 3DS, another dedicated held. I'm not talking about the mobile platform.
